Too much gold

Featured Replies

O.K., here's the scenario - i have almost hit 4k gold bars, using goldsmithing gauntlets for lots of lovely exp, and have realised something: i need to do something with these bars

i have 3 ideas,

1.smith into golden helmets, 50 exp for 3 bars

2. craft into gold ammy, 30 exp per bar

3. sell (note that no one buys gold bars, or at least no one that i know of)

can anyone think of which idea is best or any other ideas pl0x?

Gosh, I never even thought of making helmets or bowls (legends) from gold bars - way to think outside the box!

So are you saying we get smithing xp for those two (since it's anvil and hammer) versus crafting xp? Kinda kewl, tho 50 xp for 3 bars pretty much stinks, heh.

Yeah I don't think anyone buys gold bars, unless by some weird chance they have a ton of unused gems. Can't envision it.

Too bad we can't smith gilded ...

it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.

I had 1k gold bars that I sold on F2P for 300 each. I turned that around and bought 1k gold ores for 350k. You can try and sell it on F2P because it is a good source of crafting xp for them.

I'm in the process of combining smelting gold bars with stealing gems in the rogue's den.

Makes for great smithing, thieving and crafting (and magic, if you enchant) experience in one round. But it does take a while, to put it mildly

Every once in a while, someone will want to buy gold bars, when that happens, sell them.

I have had some success buying rubies, emeralds, and sapphires (by advertising on the Runescape forums) and then making recoil rings, duel rings, rings of forging, and games necklaces. None of these items "sell like hotcakes", but they do sell, you'll get crafting and magic experience, and you can make a small profit.

In my experience, rings of forging are the easiest to sell, followed by the duels and recoils. I don't bother with diamonds, they're too expensive and the jewelry doesn't sell well. None of the amulets sell in bulk, don't make them.

Be patient when selling. Sometimes I think I'll never sell my rings, then *boom*, someone buys 100 at once. I always advertise duel rings when I'm fletching at castlewars, it would probably be effective to advertise forging rings while smleting at port p or another popular furnace. Always advertise on the Runescape forums.
