Then whats the ponit of calling them "Holiday" items? Why not "Items that were dropped" I think it should stay because it shows how long you've been playing.

It is their problem, not JAGeX's. It is like saying, "What if I can't play a lot so it will take me years to get to level 99 Smithing?"

Why do you resist? My experiments are only helping humanity push the boundaries of the Art of Toxicology... you should be proud to be one of my victims.

That's the problem right there. these items are in the game so people can show how long they have been playing runescape. If you missed one, that's too bad. They don't have any special advantages, they're just for fun.

i would really like to say "i want a scythe!!!"

but yes, it's totally impossible. Jagex won't do that. sigh. yea, maybe they can give us something similar to previous holiday items, like chocolate eggs in this year's easter.

but yea, they do get better at holiday items.

i still luv scythes, i was one month slower lol. if only i had discover scythes one month earlier.

they could have diffrent coloured scythes. lol. haha.

basically, what i think Jagex is trying to do is to just, show other players, the benefits of being loyal to them. Yea, and how long their loyalty is!

loyalty = rewards

but im not jagex, so i cant speak for them.

This kind of thinking is why we don't have new, good, tradable holiday items anymore. People complaining that they deserve one, because they didn't log in on the holiday...ridiculous. I played during all old holiday drops, but never logged in on the actual holidays. Do I wish I had now? Of course. But, who do I blame? Myself and myself only...not Jagex.

I really wish Jagex hadn't bowed down to all the complaining.

That being said, they never stated that holiday drops would occur that one time only, so if they wanted they could drop Phats or Santas again...would be kinda funny actually, but they never will.

I think it's a nice idea, but it simply would not work. The old drops are 'rewards' for people who were playing then. If Jagex were to do this, then the rare market would be gone, people in rare bunny hats of scythes would just be another player. The people who have been playing longer deserve to be recognised as veterans, and these drops are a good way to achieve them.

And 200 mogres later, I got some flippers.

The untraderble holiday items are there to show how long a player has played for and to show the celebrated that holiday in game, if they were freely avalible to anybody who starts playing runescape they would just lose there novelty factor and be very pointless.

but my suggestion is to make able to get untradable holiday items and complete that holiday events.it can be some kind of holiday quests. if someone just start playing rs he can get eg first untradable christmas item( im dont sure, it is probaly yoyo) and complete that event, then he can get next christmas item and then next just like completing quests.

but if someone have some holiday items eg he have items from years 2,3,4 and dont have from year 1 he can first get item from year 1 and then item from year 5. (sry for my correct mistakes)

please people think about it

This is just a quick note to say that there aren't going to be any RuneScape items dropped at christmas. I really don't like having to say this, but I can't see any sensible alternative.

This is because the last few drops actually caused a lot of upset, and resulted in a *huge* number of complaints from players who didn't manage to get an item (or didn't get as many as their mates). Many players seemed to get really upset about the drop which is of course the exact opposite of the intended effect.

These drops used to be fun, when we started them - because they were a suprise, and nobody took them too seriously. They were just a little bit of extra fun for people who were around at the time. However nowadays many players seem to expect the 'suprise' drop to happen, and so it just doesn't work the same.

Please don't go complaining to customer-support or moaning on the forums about the christmas drop. It won't change anything. Of course I'm expecting we'll get lots of complaints whatever we do :-( Which just goes to prove how horribly wrong the whole holiday-drop thing has become. The more complaints we get the more it proves to me that we really need to just stop the whole holiday-drop thing before the situation gets even worse.

On a more positive note, we are instead going to focus our time & efforts on improving the game in other exciting ways, and working on getting RS2 ready for launch early next year.

Ok, this is from the December 22, 2003 news article on the Jagex site. In other words, you're wasting valuable disk space complaining about an issue that isn't going to get changed. I recommend that a mod lock this thread.

The holiday items would lose some of their uniqueness among newer players if anyone could simply just aquire the item at any time despite not being around when it was first released. It's an ok idea but I'd rather not have it implemented, so it's a no from me :shame: .
