fgfuyfyuiuy0 Posted July 7, 2006 Share Posted July 7, 2006 Well, If some of you may have read, in other posts I've made, I was supposed to go to Arizona for 3 months. Well, I'm in Arizona and it's montth 1 and 1/2 and for the past 3 weeks, my Aunt's cat has been real sick. He has aids and all that good stuff (Just making a point of what it is, because it isn't actually good). Well, my aunt treats this cat like her kid basically because my Uncle can't have kids, so she never had. So she calls up my dad and gets my to leave today! I'm eally happy, it's been hell here. But here's the part to go with the title. My Uncle is a big God lover and well, I'm athiest. So my Uncle starts talking about God and where the cats going and stuff. After he finished I said," I don't believe in God though." He looked at me like I was on fire or something and then he was like,"Then what do you believe." M= me and H= Him M: "Well, that whole god thing sounds crazy, but I like to stick with the scientific theory." H: "And what is that." M: "I believe that like atoms and all that crap mixed together and made the solarsystem and we evolved." H: "Then what made that stuff." M: "I don't know, I'm not a scientist." H: "Well, you have to believe in God, he's going to save your sorry -censored- one day." M: "I just don't believe in stuff like that. Who knows what the world could be like. It could be like the Matrix, where we are all hooked up to machines and then everything is fake." -He pinches me- H: "Is that fake?!" M: "Ow, but in the Matrix they make you believe pain, like it's all in your brain." -He leaves and starts talking to my aunt- H: "Well, if it's fake, then I guess you don't need dinner." -I come inside and I'm going to my bedroom- H: "You, me, your aunt, and her cat are real and if you're going to think everything isn't then you won't be loved. Good luck finding your way around the airport tomorrow.' I said it could be like it, but I like the scientific theory better. I don't think he got that because he's all mad and is dropping me off at the airport today, and I don't know my way around. So, that's why you think before you say. But I didn't like how he pushed all that God stuff on me, but people get so angry about religion. Well, I have to leave in 2 hours to enjoy a nice, 2 hour drive to the Pheonix Airport with my Uncle. Even though I disagree with your beliefs and such, I really don't think he should get that mad about it... Good topic to read, though. Yeah, I wasn't even mad the slightest bit. Ragen Posted July 7, 2006 Share Posted July 7, 2006 Yeah your Uncle shouldn't have gotten so wound up about it, but at the same time you probally shouldn't have pushed your Matrix stuff on him. You said yourself that you didn't like it when he pushed his views onto him. I think you should have been sympathetic and continued the talk on cat heaven. He was obviously emotionally insecure at the time so you shouldn't argue against his beliefs and upset him like you did. Try to be a bit more sympathetic and comforting rather than confrontational when someones loved ones are dying. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar! Here is the thing about "God" whether he is real or not, he is a good thing. 1) He makes people not feeling alone, because "God loves everyone." 2) He makes people feeling more confident, becasue "God will be there for you." 3) All religion provoke people to be kind, love etc. Nothing is wrong or can go wrong with that. So when you try to prove God doesn't exist, think about those benefits "God" can bring to people around the world. and a word of advice, don't say smart comment at the wrong time. That's true but it's more about how his uncle reacted than what was said. It wasn't really changing what his uncle believed anyway, his uncle just took it upon himself to try to make him Catholic.. If you dont believe in god and he IS real- you just wasted an eternity. I believe in god, i respect your opinion and im sure your a good person but whatever.
