July 8, 200620 yr I have been wondering for a while. Why is the Usergroups section there? There is only one usergroup "tech_heads" and I couldn't find a way in which to start my own. So it seems pretty useless. Is there somthing I'm missing about it? Is there a way in which you can change it so we can make our own usergroups and make it a feature of the boards? :? For those who don't know what the "Usergroups" is, its in the links up the top, just above the "Logout button." ~~ Eelspremiers ~~
July 8, 200620 yr Good point. You should be able to add your own atleast. Im guessin its a given with the fourm software. Currently going for 76 fishing
July 8, 200620 yr At one point the Tech Head position was open, but that was months back. I was actually thinking of making a topic like this as I always pondered why it was still there. Offline and unavailable.
July 8, 200620 yr The usergroups section serve a great purpose, trust me... The usergroups are a great way for the admins to control what people get access for, what their ranks should be, what avatar etc... So instead of going in and added a new crew member to ranks, board access, rankcolour, avatar and so on, they can simply add the person to the usergroup which has all of those things already added ;) So yes, the usergroups might seem a bit useless for the average user, but for the admins it's a very important feature...
July 9, 200620 yr Oh I understand now. Thanks Ks! Is there anyway that we can start our own usergroups? Or is that just a private feature for the admins of the board? :?
July 9, 200620 yr Unfortunately users cant start their own groups as there really wouldnt be any purpose to it , as you wont have access to the Administrator options to set up the groups permissions. July 9, 200620 yr Tech_Heads just happens to be the only other one you can see, there are others can be seen in the section saying what groups you're a member of. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
July 12, 200620 yr Yea some of the usergroups are hidden so people don't know they are there, and others a visible so at times people can ask to join them. -Bloodangel "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale."
