caligula101
I heard they were bringing out a movie about 9/11. You can see the trailer on the imdb homepage anyway. I'm not sure if this is the correct board, but what are your opinions on them making this movie? It's a bit early for making this movie, I mean it was only 5 years ago. I personally find it a little sick and just more proof that Hollywood is scraping the bottom of the barrel.
____
Being an Australian, I really have no problem with them making a movie on 9/11. Although I can understand how a lot of Americans would feel otherwise. I probably wouldn't see it since it's not really my kind of movie, but perhaps later. Mercifull
The same points come up for agument and dicsussion as did with United 93. This isnt the first time a film has been made about a disaster such as this. The first Pearl Harbour film was released very soon after the event and take a look at how many Vietnam films cam our while it was still going on. Those two things were far more tragic in regards to human life than 9/11 was. That said, it will be very sad if the movie isnt done well. It takes great skill on behalf of the writers, directors and actors to ensure that full respect if given to the events of that day without turning it into a farce. Bring it on i say and ill decide my opinion after i see it, not before... Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. deloriagod
I think Hollywood needs to give things time before they go and make a movie about it. Something huge happens and then Hollywood suddenly wants to make a movie about it. Do we honestly need a bunch of movies about a terrorist attack on America? I feel that at least one was appropriate, but if you watch the Discovery chanel they have some good programs about 9/11. I think Hollywood needs to stay away from things like this. I didn't lose anyone close to me in 9/11 but how would you feel if you lost a close relative in 9/11 and then they decided to make a movie about how your family member died? Personally I would hate to have to relive that.. Internet Marketing For Newbies
indy500fan
they could have started making the movie the next day after the attack, and released it a year later, and i wouldnt have minded it. im not going to see it, because i dont really think its going to interest me all that much. Ragen
I wouldn't mind the movie as long as it portrayed the entire thing as sad and a waste of life. And that it didn't try to support the following wars in anyway. I think that if they do make a movie it should be from a a fathers point of view and about how he will never see his family again. Or they could try to show how brave the firemen were, just as long as it isn't an insult to the dead in anyway. Like Merc said, let them have a go and if they muck up then I'll critise then. Not till then. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!
How2PK
It's not entirely new, they made movies about WWII shortly after the war as well. I don't see why we shouldn't get to see these movies. The pain will stay anyway, weither you see this now or over 20 years. I think it's good movies like this are made already. Though I doubt it's going to be as good and real as UNITED 93 which was a more than great tribute to those died. But that's only based on the trailer and a bias towards Oliver Stone. Oy_the_Great
The movie is going about flight United 93, and the family of the victims agreed on making the movie. Paul Greengrass asked them before starting the shooting. Some of the closely involved people actually play in the movie, like the chief of the control tower during the events. The relatives and friends of the unfortunate people aboard the plane all agree that it is a beautiful movie, not at all Hollywood-ish. There's no overacting, just realistic heroism of the people who try to take back the plane from the terrorists. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475276/ IMDB's reviews in the lnik! caligula101
Well I suppose you guys may be right. As long as it doesn't say "God bless America" or "Long live George W Bush" I might not commit suicide while watching it.
Oy_the_Great
Well I suppose you guys may be right. As long as it doesn't say "God bless America" or "Long live George W Bush" I might not commit suicide while watching it. It certainly does not. Humo, probably the trendiest and most left-ish magazine here commented on it that it was a fantastic movie, without superhuman bravery, but rather realistic acts of survival. In the real flight, a guy also says "let's do this" or "let's roll"; the same quote comes back in the movie, but not in a typical Hollywood way, more something in between, nothing heroic. That only is pretty much enough evidence to say that this movie isn't about spectacle, but more like a true documentary of what happened inside the plane. I'm looking forward to see it.
