Not
here's the whole story http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14280416/ Government mouthpieces in the US, UK and Israel are all hyping the inevitability of a Hezbollah nuke attack on a major western or Israeli city, which will provide the perfect justification for Neo-Fascist bloodsuckers to expand the war from Lebanon into Syria and Iran. http://prisonplanet.com/articles/august2006/100806redalert.htm Well I live in the UK and have not once heard this Hezbollah nuclear claim once. Its all very well claiming that corporate new sources are biased or even fraudulent, but then proceeding to quote some sort of underground 'news' source that makes such laughable claims makes your point worthless. http://www.netscape.com/viewstory/2006/07/28/fox-news-says-hezbollah-certain-to-nuke-major-city/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.informationliberation.com%2Findex.php%3Fid%3D13797&frame=true I used to be an avid listener of the Alan Colmes show, though I can no longer stand him. Oy_the_Great
Read: those of us who think our way of life is best. People who live in developed countries do have the better life. No we don't. Why is suicide rate higher in the rich countries? Why on earth would our lives be better?? Because we have a thousandfold of luxury goods compared to poorer nations? What are the standards for you to say such a non-truth? Materialism? Patriotism? You probably have never ever been to a poorer country, so please don't say something as stupid as that. I've been to India, Indonesia, Marocco, Turkey and every European country apart from some eastern European countries and the one thing that struck me is that poorer people often have a happier life. They don't worry about so much as we do, they have a lot of time to spend with eachother and they don't fear eachother. Many of us are actually afraid of people, afraid of being socially engaged. But poorer cultures still have a group-feeling that's worth so much more than our wide-screen televisions, our i-Pods and our luxurious houses. I'm sure you're a good guy Shadow, but don't talk bs like that; it's just not true. Sure, they have their problems, but so do we. They have different lives, not worse lives, unless they're extremely poor, or at war. Bill Hicks":dhj2kan9]Since the one thing we can say about fundamental matter is, that it is vibrating. Just because a guest goes and prophecises a nuclear attack doesnt neccessarily mean it has any basis in fact, I could go on CNN today and claim to be God but that just isnt so (or is it? ). Also the article you then quote even discredits the claim as an overdose of 'duck and cover' type fearmongering . ------------------------- Anyway I keep going Off Topic recently so lets all just get back to the real point here. Faux
Oy, I... I don't even know where to start man. If you called my post stupid, then your post is a first class ignorant post. I still can't get over how you tried to lecture me how third world countries work... seriously. Whoop-dee-do, you toured a bunch of countries and you're telling me that they live a better life? I'm gonna spare you a bit, I know you tourist types. You think it's cute how people there live their life like that, don't you? And the best part was how you said "You probably have never ever been to a poorer country." That was... pure gold. Unlike you, I was born and lived twelve years of my life in a third world country. My life was decent in the Philippines. It was great actually. I wouldn't change my childhood for anything. My dad was an engineer for a cement corp. and my mom didn't even need to work. The only reason why my parents wanted to leave the Philippines was because for me and my siblings' future. Just because my life was decent doesn't mean that I was blind from the country's problem. I was lucky to live my life as I did, the majority isn't as lucky. If you get a serious disease, you're dead. During New Year's Eve, thousands are in hospitals with decapitated bodies due to fireworks. Corruption filled the government and the police force. People hold up groceries that's worth nothing. Landslide? Wait for a few days til the government does something, for now, use your hands to find the dead bodies. Young girls get molested and more than half of the cases are never even reported. Middle class and upper class people? When someone gets sick, you know what happens? They fly to the US to get treatment. People drink water that's probably as dirty as a toilet. People live in houses made up of plywood. Women? You can get them for something worth 10 dollars. AIDS? If you live here, you can get help from the government. In a third world country, do you think there's something like a health care even exist? Organizations such as the red cross help, but not enough. Need glasses? Good luck. Braces? LOL Enough of the news. How about personal experience? The lady that used to be our maid had 5 children in total. The first two died from malaria. You know what they did when their kid had malaria? Hopsital right? Woops, no can't do. Too expensive. An old guy with a towel in his head and some herbs will have to do. I was lucky, I never had to experience that because when a family member gets sick, the company that my dad works for foots the bill. Heck, my sister was able to occupy the top class room in one of the best hospital in the whole province once just because she had a simple skin irritation. None of us ever experienced having to share a hospital room with anyone. No fee for us. But unfortunately, the majority doesn't have that kind of option. A huge majority doesn't have that option. You want decent education? Pay up for it and you get a school similar to public school in the US or Canada. You don't even want to see what a public school there looks like. If you lived in a third world country for as long as I have and watched the news there as often as I have, then you wouldn't think it's great to live there. Or if you've personally met people there and understood their positions in life, you wouldn't think that it's great living there. These kind of things are broadcasted on the news daily. And the funny thing is, of 3rd world countries, Philippines is actually decent compared to others. I don't even want to imagine what the hell happens to countries worse than that. You lived a sheltered life, I didn't. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::

Make7upu101
I know this was discussed awhile ago in the topic but I didn't see it. The way I see it, we're all free. If we wanted to, we could do whatever we want whenever we want. Maybe instead we should be using "able to avoid reprecussions." I'm not sure if I made that clear or if what I said is just taken for granted.
Oy_the_Great
I still can't get over how you tried to lecture me how third world countries work... seriously. Whoop-dee-do, you toured a bunch of countries and you're telling me that they live a better life? I'm gonna spare you a bit, I know you tourist types. You think it's cute how people there live their life like that, don't you? I find it odd that you make the same mistake as I did. I assumed you knew barely anything about something you know a lot from. You think of me of the average HawaÃÆÃâÃâïan t-shirt and shorts wearing tourist, taking pictures of poor people while thinking "what a beautiful country". You don't know me at all, nor do I know you. But anyway, I'm sorry if I offended you. The one thing I'd like to point out, is that I said They have different lives, not worse lives, unless they're extremely poor, or at war. I classify Indonesia and the Philippines as extremely poor countries, but in Indonesia, despite a lack of medical care, education and so many other things, the people we met were living a rather good life. There are of course exceptions, the very poor, who starve to death, but those people are on the streets in 'civilised' countries as well. Thomas, my friend whom I travelled to Indonesia with, is born in Jakarta, but he was adopted when he was 3 months old. The people there were of course a bit jealous to see that 'one of them' was able to wear fancy clothes, get a very good education, live in a nice place and above all, be wealthy, for that of course is the most important difference. But they were all enthousiastic people that enjoyed life in a whole different way then we do. From what I've seen, they take pleasure in listening to music, watching TV etc. as well as we do, but the atmosphere is completely different to ours. Watching television isn't a solo-occupation, it's still a mass-event, where an entire family sits gathered in front of the screen. I often saw girls singing an American song on the radio with their friends. The men went out fishing at 5AM together and when they came back, their wives were waiting for them to cook the fish, while those same men sold some of their catch, together. Anyway, we live in a very closed society, a lot of people spend their time at home, alone, while they don't, because they don't have the luxury to do so. But that doesn't mean life's worse; or at least it does not mean so to me. There are things that are vital to what we call a good life that they haven't got. Important things, like all the ones you mentioned. No security, a lot of crime, little health care, little education, barely any carreer opportunities in life, if any. But still I don't think their lives are miserable or even worse than ours. It's, like I said, different. Perhaps you hated the circumstances in the Philippines, most likely I know too little about it, but I'm convinced there are a lot of people in the western countries that have worse lives, as long as you don't compare our standards to theirs. You lived a sheltered life, I didn't. Entirely true, but I do have eyes. Bill Hicks":dhj2kan9]Since the one thing we can say about fundamental matter is, that it is vibrating. Faux
Nope. Actually, no. I think of you as the average tourist with the huge hiking bags and khaki shorts. The average Hawaiian t-shirt wearing tourists with fat bellies don't really tour, they just build mansions by the beach. If you think Philippines is an extremely poor country, I'd hate what you'd think of countries like Laos and Ethiopia. And I don't hate the circumstances in the Philippines. I actually love it, but I just know the facts about the country. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
