The only thing I want to know is how they uncovered the plot.

I don't know if this has been answered, but were they going to bomb the planes, or bomb something after they landed? I've heard that they were going to bomb the planes, but the second option is possible too...

They were sitting above the fuel tanks on the planes so that they could detonate them mid-air and the whoel plane would blow up, apparently.

The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past.

- Me!

It woudlnt really matter where they were sat to be honest. If they blew a big enough hole in the side of the plane then the decompression would be too great and it would tear apart mid air anyway.

send them over to the US and give them 25 years in Guantanamo bay then the death penalty afterwards, that would ne nice for them.

Its good to see that the security services were on the ball this time, Ive been a little critical of them in the past but this time you have to applaud them.

Could you imagine if this hadnt been prevented though, BBC news was talking about 10 or more planes this morning - that would most likely make it the single biggest act of terrorism ever.

Im not trying to be funny but for some reason when I heard the details of this plan I thought of the Die Hard films;

Liquid explosives - Die Hard With A Vengeance

Plan centred around an airport - Die Harder (Die Hard 2)

And people wonder why im opposed to Islam and plan on voting BNP...

So all Muslims are terrorists then?

No the BNP think that anyone who isnt White and English is scum.

Lets not have this argument again though.

That is simply disgusting. I don't see how a human being can possibly vote for them. It's just awful.

To the author, I hope your family reaches you soon and I'm extremely relieved something like this has been prevented. As much news coverage as we get, I feel I'm really too ignorant on the matter to form an intelligent input into the debate, so I'll leave it at that.

Terrorism - the buzzword of the 21st century.

You can't turn on the TV without hearing about terrorism this and evil that. Perhaps they all just need to be sent in for re-education.

"Islamic fascists... will use any means to destroy those of us who love freedom"

I hope people don't interpret this as all Muslims are fascists. I know that's not what Bush meant, but someone is bound to. :(

Linking to a corporate media article and reffering to it as "the whole story" is quite amusing.

I don't put it put governments to attack it's own citizens to further their agendas, wheather that is money or power, I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure that "the big one" has not happened, and when that one goes off it will immediatly "known" that it was perpetrated by Iran and we'll be at the start of a new conflict with no turning back.

Government mouthpieces in the US, UK and Israel are all hyping the inevitability of a Hezbollah nuke attack on a major western or Israeli city, which will provide the perfect justification for Neo-Fascist bloodsuckers to expand the war from Lebanon into Syria and Iran.

Read: those of us who think our way of life is best.

If Bush was really free then someone could run up to him, kick him in the goolies and there would be no repercussions. No one in a civilised society is totally free and it is just a case of which freedoms you value most. Such pontificating pisses me off. And it doesn't mean I commend acts of violence to others, including 'terrorism'.

Depends on your definition of freedom I guess. Locke definitely believed that the idea of freedom and liberty encompass the idea of not having the license to do whatever you want. That is, freedom in itself contains the notion that you can't do unjust action towards another - you don't have license over them as they don't have license over you.

Maybe we aren't free - I'm not trying to say we are, but people have attempted to define freedom and liberty for years and no one can agree. So depending on your definition, we are free.

I very much believe in not being able to do whatever you want, and I will still call it freedom - however not everyone else does and so it is arrogant for someone like Bush to imply that his version freedom is the only acceptable one. Many of the people in the countries we might not consider free are perfectly happy with how they live and would have it no different.

I'm saying Mr. Bush isn't the world authority on what does and doesn't amount to freedom. As you said there is no universal definition and that is what is important when he accuses others of trying to destroy freedom.

Well I live in the UK and have not once heard this Hezbollah nuclear claim once. Its all very well claiming that corporate new sources are biased or even fraudulent, but then proceeding to quote some sort of underground 'news' source that makes such laughable claims makes your point worthless.

>Perfect freedom can't ever exist without it turning out to be anarchy. We need laws, the problem is that some of them are dubious, and can be interpreted in many ways, often wrong ways, that result in wrong juridical decisions. The other side of the constitutional organization is that there are too few laws; with every change to our community come new ways to commit crimes. Internet for example brought hundreds with them, so we needed new laws for it. I'm sure there still are a lot of loopholes in this part of the law, but eventually they'll disappear.

What I'm trying to say is that humanity cannot be in control without certain standards and especially values that both result in laws.
