Make armor reduce damage instead of avoiding it

I think armor should reduce damage instead of help avoiding it.

Thats what armors suppose to do.

The defence skill will raise your dodge rate and enable you to wear armor.

Wearing armor lowers your dodge rate.

The armor im using is rune full helm, rune plate body, rune legs and rune kite.

Heres how the armor works:

Armor:

Attack

No effect

Defence:

Stab-+207

Slash-+209

Crush--40

Magic-40

Range-+205

The armor will lower your attack bonuses in magic and range too.

Now I'll tell you how this works.

Stab has a bonus of +207. Lets make so that every 40 points or something 1 damage is reduced. This means with a +200 bonus in Stab Slash and Range will reduce the damage of other melee weapons by 5 and arrows by 5.

I made the crush be a minus so that warhammers, maces and staffs will be useful against armored fighters. When you have a minus bonus in anything it increases the damage you recieve from an attack automatically. So if a person is using a warhammer against this guy he will get a plus 2 damage bonus same with magic.

Maybe this will make the combat triangle be better.

I'm pretty sure...positive...that all armor does is reduce the "accuracy" of your opponent. If your opponent hits 10s, and you have full rune, he still is able to hit 10s, just not as aften as he would if you had no armor on...

Quality posting at its finest.

Yes, definitely, please! When you go to a better weapon you can hit more - I went from addy pick  to rune sword and started hitting 10s instead of 8s. So why shouldn't it be the reverse with armour?

When I attack eg: ice warriors, I get hit 0s for ages and ages with me hitting nothing on them too. Instead, I would like it if I got hit 1s or 2s instead of being in a stalemate. It would still take the same amount of time to kill someone, but instead of hitting a large number followed by lots of 0s or 1s, you hit lots of small numbers. That way, you might get hurt a bit more in battle, but every warrior takes some scars in a fight! And there would be less of those high hits that suddenly come out of nowhere and really damage your hp. Plus there's none of that boring hitting 0s for ages and ages.

I helped on the Black Knight's Fortress Quest Guide. Stop messaging me in game! All I did was say BKs are lvl 33, not 31!

All skills to level 30!

Changing something like that would be a huge change to the way the game works, and id say jagex would be unlikely to change it. RS has been around for a while, so if there was a more efficient combat system, id say they would have thought of it by now

I see where youre coming from with this, but it would mean someone who has mabye str lvl 30 attacking someone wearing barrows or something, they would never do any damage at all

That makes sense, but it doesnt make the game fair

Nice idea, but i cant really see it happening

Well said. It's just too late to change that now.

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.
