I've just recently started doin stuff like this and here is what i've come up with

Ok there are the 3 versions of this i've done so far,

 

 

 

A: Is the first one I made

 

B: I tried to do a little more for the background

 

C: I used plain white text to make it more legible

 

 

 

 

 

 

And here is one i made just messing around with bart and homer \

Try saving it as a PNG. If it's too big JPEG is ok I guess (I don't know how ot lower quality) but never, ever save as a GIF.

If you're using Photoshop, go to Save for Web, and use the GIF option, quality not as amazing as PNG but not as horrible as JPEG, just perfect for forum size.

 

 

 

As for the signature itself, it's interesting and intriguing but not amazingly eye catching which is pretty nice after staring at some violent colors for a while. I do like it, but the background is rather unintriguing. But as I said, good job, I do like this. Maybe next time try spicing up the bg and using some nice subtle colors.

the swords were an image then i changed them fadded them and some other not so hard stuff, but i did make the background using artRage (some program i found on the web) and then smudge tool thats why it looks like crap :lol:

 

 

 

oh and sadly i dont have photoshop, I use fireworks MX which i dont think is as good

Hehe, filesize is no problem with me. I save all my photoshop work at 100% quality and then open it up in GIMP. GIMP is, so far, the easiest thing for me to lower filesize in. That's the only reason I use it anymore.

ok i tryed to make it a gif but the only program I have the supports it is ms paint, and when i convert from png to gif, well... just see for yourself

Indeed, never trust Paint for anything except making pixel signatures.

 

 

 

 

 

I like this signature a bit more, it's still quite simple but it looks good.

 

What's the viney/crosshatch texture across/behind the sword?

 

 

 

My main improvement point for the signature is the text, it isn't very legible. Just set it to a solid white text.
