ixfd64 Posted September 1, 2006 Share Posted September 1, 2006 One of the major criticisms of RS is that skills are often tedious - players do the same thing over and over again. However, people don't seem to get too bored of combat. I guess that it's thrilling that there's always the chance of getting a rare drop. Since most people won't mind getting a rare item or two, why don't we make more skills have the chance of giving rare items and letting players earn money? Here's some of my ideas: Thieving: Some items could only be obtained from thieving, such as: Helm of Alertness: From guards (1/15000 chance) - same stats as rune medium helmet, but protects player from things that temporarily lower defense Holy symbol of Saradomin (m) (1/20000 chance) - holy symbols made of mithril, these can only be obtained from thieving knights. Gives +3 prayer more than regular symbols. Holy symbol of Saradomin (g) (1/20000 chance) - from paladins, gives +6 more prayer than regular symbols. Enchanted crystal sphere - allows player to enchant their seeds into crystal bows and shields. One use only. The spell should be called "enchant crystal" and require level 90 magic, along with 500 cosmic runes. Woodcutting - Players would be able to get an extremely rare piece of uncut amber. It requires level 70 to cut, and level 85 to craft into an amber periapt (requires string). It protects the player from disease and poiso. Prayer - when players dig holes to bury bones, they have the chance to discover treasure (from coins and gems to armor). The better the bone (hence bigger hole), the higher the chances of getting treasure (with better treasure). Also, the further into the Wild the player is, the better odds there are. Construction - when building things, players may discover the posessions of the past owners. Herblore - like brewing, players could randomly make "mature" potions with more potency. Sorry, I couldn't come up with reasonable stuff for other skills. Sorry, I couldn't come up with reasonable stuff for other skills. I like your thieving ideas, we need something to improve what you can get from pickpocketing, as we already have the random chance of getting a pharaoh's sceptre in the pyramid raiding so why not expand to the whole skill? Not too bothered about your woodcutting since we already have nests, how about a use for Bird's Eggs instead? Prayer- Typical you dont exactly bury bones deep enough to find treasure, also its just another thing to get in the way while fighting and bury bones as you are fighting. Construction- Doesn't make sense since all houses are brand new when you get them in game. Herblore- Doesn't make sense that they would "mature" since that can only beales. seanite Posted September 2, 2006 Share Posted September 2, 2006 maybe like mining chance of getting 2 ores -1/12,500 chance of finding runes (nature, cosmic, law, and maybe astral for members) 1/30,000 runecrafting (aren't any random events for this) attacked by a mage- 1/7,500 (drops include runes magic armour, essence, possibly give runecrafting xp) smithing (none here either) chance of making an item that has extra +3 stats- 1/100,000 Maybe if working at Doric's he says how good of a smither u are and gives you gloves of smelting which increase your smithing lvl by 2 but lowers ur attack, defence, strength, and maybe crafting and mining for as long as you wear them- 1/20,000 you crack the bars maybe reveling that a different ore was incased in it and bar could become bronze-rune (not including the bar that it originally was) and if it was a 5 bar item then 5 bars would become a new bar -1/75,000 Prayer Well this is more of a suggestion than a random but, maybe if you dig a hole with a spade and then bury the bones (only in wild to prevent diggers showing up in Fally and digging up the garden and stuff like that) and you could get more xp for burying more properly instead of making a tiny hole and covering it so the bone is just on the surface Okay here's a real one okay so your burying bones some place and while burying bones a god of runescape shows up and says I see ur worshipping me by burying bones here (wild Zammy, outside Sara and a small chance of Guthix both places or just no Guthix) and they give you a ring of prayer it has five uses, like you use it to summon the strength of whatever god u got and it hits like 15 damage instintly and stuns the monster or human and it gives u a small prayer boost and some attack if Zammy and some defence if Sara-1/20,000 rule the seas is a cool mmorpg register through here: http://www.ruletheseas.com/index.php?r=50338 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
