I win the internet....

Yup, I won it. Beat it, smacked it to the ground.

Incase you are wondering, the past week I have been having problems with my internet connection. I still managed to post a bit (in sprees, in the computer lounge) but the internet wouldn't work.

it all starts off as me just waiting for the tech guy to come and repair it. So, it takes like 4 days but he finaly gets there. After about 30 minutes he says "****, I don't know whats wrong...".

So, I did some more investigating, on my own. I looked online in the PC lounge and my roomates computer until I finaly found it out. My "network card" on my motherboard was a gonner.

So, I called my mom and asked if she could order over a network card to me and send it over nightly shipping. So, she does that. It was suposed to get here Saturday (today).

Well... I than read that mail doesn't get delivered here on weekends or federal hollidays. I'd have to freaking wait until tuesday then!

So I finaly say screw it, and start looking for computer store locations near me. (keep in mind, I don't have a car =P). I finaly find a radio shack, walk down there, grab a USB 2.0 Network adapter and make my way back to the dorm.

And, here I am, actualy typing this up on my own PC. I thought i'd just say that "hey, i'm alive again!". to all of you around here. Hopefully you can get a laugh too out of my sad story =P. Sadly, I need teh internets. :(

I feel your pain. Whenever my internet provider decides to, for some reason, shut down our internet, I go into breakdown mode. I feel so issolated from the world.

Dang you Charter! Argh! I wish we got Comcast around here... :(

You had almost a same problem as me. :uhh:

I have a Belkin wireless lan interwebz connection. It's pretty fast and everything, but the main hub would go down every few hours. That was the first week, but by the end of the month, it was going down every 5 minutes. That meant every 5 minutes I had to get off my chair, stroll downstairs, go to the hub, unplug it, re-plug it, go back upstairs just to use the internet. Considering it takes about 1 minute to re-connect to the hub, I was getting about 4 minutes out of it. It wasn't too bad, my dad is usually downstairs aswell so he just reset it for me. But the killer was for downloading things, my interwebz would cut out and i'd have to start the download again.

But anyway, the hub had a gaurantee on it, so we just traded it in for another one. This one hasn't crashed once in a week so far. ::'

But, yeah... welcome back.

The same thing happened with my wireless router lol. It would just seemingly randomly disconect. And I mean randomly, there wasnt anything in general that seemed to provoke the dissconect. Sometimes it would be fine for 6 hours w/o a disconect, sometimes it would disconect 3 times within 30 minutes. >_<.

Anyways, yeah this adapater is just going to be an extra thing i'm going to keep around (just in case :))
