September 10, 200619 yr Hey, I recently got Photoshop, yay, sadly I can't work it for {I don't know if I can say what I'm thinking}. Anyway, I was playing around with it today after reading a couple of tutorials to get the basic idea of the commands. I then went solo and made these rather random 8 signiture backgrounds. Please give me some CC and advice on them. Thanks. PS: They are in no order of my preference. They are just listed. Thanks for the cool signature Kobbo ;)
September 10, 200619 yr Those are pretty neat. This site could help some more: http://www.photoshopbuddy.com/tutorials.html

September 10, 200619 yr Urg, filter piles. They seem great when you start out (I know, they did for me) but you really must get out of them as soon as possible. Get some brushes from Deviant Art and learn some basic brushing tutorials. I have my own somewhere. Just read a few tutorials on how to get good colours and effects without filters (or as little filters as possible) and kind of merge them to your own style.

I disagree, brushes are not the best way to make a signature, and filters can really add to a signature if you know how to use them.

TBH, if you cant brush, you cant do smack. i started with filter things and rubbish animation and advanced to brushes, and then other stuff. im still not much better( :( ), but i can do bits and peices when i need to. September 11, 200619 yr My only advice is to realy just keep learning photoshop. It's usualy good that you find out what everything does (through filter piles) before you get to working on actual stuff. :) So just keep practicing realy.

Which is usually brushing or smudging. Smudging is alot harder than brushing. But really, if you're saying if he knew how to use them you may aswell tell him to get C4Ds or tell him to use curves and gradient maps. Basic brushing is ideal for beginners, it gets a better effect than filter piles and isn't really that hard.
