Snowboarding - Love it?

I enjoy snowboarding. I wouldn't say I live for it or anything like many people around here, but it's something I do for goof times. I guess I'm kind of spoiled though, it's only about a 20 minute drive to the local mountain (not hill, mountain) which is a lot of snow to ride. Lake Tahoe is a nice place, and maybe 40 minutes away I'm on the next biggest mountain should I get sick of the nearby one.

I'm going to try and make it up at least once a week this year due to getting a new job and basically during the winter they don't make exceptions on days off. I usually only go up for a couple hours at a time and it's just a great way to forget about stuff that you have to do when you get home.

Thats awesome I really wish I lived near a mountain  .

Oh yeah. It got really cold here today in Chicago and it actually snowed! We got about an inch, maybe. For like 5 minutes it was coming down so hard you would have thought it was a blizzard lol. But its kinda strange having snow before Halloween because we usually dont get our first snow until mid-late November. Even though I don't really mind the snow, I mind the bitter cold temperatures and the brutal winds. I also had to play a soccer game today in 30 degree weather. That is not very fun...

like from some LOTR movie (though the coldness is stunning too, so beware).

Ever been to New Zealand? Thats where the LOTR trilogy was filmed :P. My uncle is from there, I wish to go there. All I know is that when I move out, im going to some place with very few people. In a nice forest. Some place in michigan maybe? Or Arizona.. Ohhh lol.

Waste of time... how so? And I know what you mean by hoon culture (long hair, skummy, skuzzy, failure, druggy) but you have to realize not even 1/4 of the people that snowboard are like this. I personally am the complete opposite. I have short hair, get pretty good grades, and I have never done drugs or drank a beer. Even though I am only 15, so what. Just don't stereotype people when you have never done it, expecially if you think it is a waste of time, or even never have been to a hill to see what it's like.

I suggest you read my original message. If you did, you would of realized that my 'thoughts' are completely unjustifiable and are based on a very narrow and selfish view of snowboarding.

Where did I say I have never been to a hill?

Alright, uh I dont want to start fights on fourms. You said you've never tried snowboarding, so I have assumed you never have been to hill to try snowboarding, but you could be a skiier. Sorry for the misclarification.

I think I'm going to road trip down to Aspen this winter sometime. Find a three-day weekend, then take one day off on either side, and I've got five days, then it's a 15 hour drive straight through. Two young bucks hopped up on Redbull with some clothes and the boards on the roof rack and I think we might be able to have a good time. We'll stay with family in Denver. Yeah that should be fun.

Yeah sounds like fun! Me and my friends are going to try and do it over winter break senior year. We are Sophomores now so we have lots of time to plan :). If you do it, you should have a blast, hope you have fun.

Woot skiing this season at Manning park is going to be fun

I go to Manning Park every year! :D It's getting a bit small but I enjoy it.

I'm a skiier myself and I have no interest in snowboarding. As far as the sterotypes go the majority of snowboarders I have met are jerks. Thats not to say all of them are but the majority are. Of course just because your a snowboarder dosn't mean your a jerk and they're are plently of jerkoff skiiers out there but I've had some pretty bad experences with boarders.
