smithing from lvl 60 to 65

Featured Replies

I have recently finished alching all my fletching stuff (lvl 71) and now would like to finish raising my smithing from lvl 60 to 65, for devious minds.

I am p2p, have around 1.5mill to spend and have opened most useful quests like dwarf cannon, blast furnace, port phasmis etc. My mining lvl is 67, magic 61, rc lvl 47. (ie i can mine mith, craft nats and high alch). I ahve about 500 coal, and 200 mith ores in bank, but no iron.

I would like a smithing/smelting solution that is the most time efficient, and that does not lose a lot of money.

I have considered smelting gold with gauntlets, but that would mean me doing family crest quest and the quest to get ring of chronos?( i dont like paying keldagrim boat dwarf for gold transport) Mining and Smelting 2722 gold would give me the lvl as well as enough gold to raise crafting, but i would have to do a lot of mining (and more on gems in shilo) to do this, and mining gets boring after a while. (but does raise lvl 51 crafting)

I have also looked at cannonballs(3549 smelts), which definately allows me to break even (or profit), just buying ores and smelting etc, but that is so so slow.

Anything I have missed?

To double your money [aside from the cost of rings], buy iron ore, smelt it [with rings of forging], then make it into knives. Iron ore = 100 ea., knives = 20ea. :)

EDIT : Sorry, I meant 40 ea for knives.

Cool.

Knives are *cough* 40 each *cough*

Like what Intriguing has mentioned, making iron knives is a good method too. That was what I did when getting 60 - 65 smithing.

You would need around 4.7K iron ores (around 100 - 110ea) and 34 Rings of Forging. Assuming you make your own rings, you would spend about 517K. If you want to make your buying and selling easier, buy 5K of them (about 550K).

Smelt and smith into bars, and sell them on the offical weapon forum. I have sold them for 40gp ea without any problem. That will earn you 940K, a profit of 423K.

Shouldn't take you too long to smelt and smith this amount.

to me iron knives would be slow xp, but if you decided to do it , use Blast furnace. All you need to bring is money. You can buy ore there, always in stock, people but up coal and mith. You can stay as long as money holds out.

But for faster xp you make the highest plate bodies you can.

Since you like Mithril and Fletching, Mithril Arrows sell well at 60gp each, meaning you can recover 900gp per Mithril bar.

PM me to have any potions made or crafting done

i'm just thinking whether to raise my smithing to 70 by smithing my iron bars to knives or just selling the bars 200 ea...

wtf

sorry for the post above, accidentally pressed post reply instead of new topic... embarrassing

can'y even edit it because of my slow computer :wall: :wall: :wall:

wtf

i used blast furnace for a new hours to get my smithing from 60 to 63, then i used a mature dwarven stout from "forgettable tale of a drunken dwarf"

(note: drink a normal one to make the normal mith 2h at 64 smith, dont waste your time with your +2!)

well, at blast furnace i brought enough stuff for 800 steel bars (800 coal and 800 iron ore) then i alched steel plates (brought a friend :D )

then afterwards i did iron knives since i had left over iron and bought them at the blast furnace shop...

(btw, devious minds is worth it for the cut scene ::' )

True, except with platebodies you smith 5 bars at a time, with knives, its one bar at a time.
