Changing membership style

Featured Replies

Hey,

I hope this hasn't been dicussed before, but I have a suggestion in terms of membership.

The current membership is one "real time" month, this method is adequate, but I think that it should be one "game time" month.

This would benefit the players and Jagex wouldn't loose any money. If you just got your new subscription, and then had to leave for a holiday for 2 weeks, thats 2 weeks wasted of membership wasted!

Jagex should change this to one month "in-game time", so you only use your membership time when you're playing, not when you're off on a tropical island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

I'm sure this would work, but feel free to discuss any faults.

I disagree.

Player A and Player B both subscribe same day, same time. Player A takes the normal month to spend his months worth of subscription, and resubscribes at the end of the month. Player B does not get on very often, so it may take 5x as long for his membership to run out then Player A's. That is 4 months worth of subscription that Jagex is losing.

Sorry, no.

I agree with your comments but if every one used this new method, they would all be getting 1 month game time so it would even out to the same time (depending on each players access tmes).

i thought of a simular idea myself: namely: like getting a membership for 100 hours or somthing, because some player only play 1 hour a day an some 5 hours aday, so you can deside what type you want, i think a lot of f2p people get member then

im a member myself

If you actaully think about it membership is done by minutes. When your logged off Runescape the game keeps you in the same place as when you logged in doesn't it? Yet if membership was only done by the amount of time you were logged into Runescape you would have to log in at Lumbridge all the time because that's were you end up when your membership ends. And thats what having Runescape membership done in minutes is - your only a member when your logged in so every time you log out your membership cancels.

And heres another problem - the Runescape Offical Forums - if your not logged in the game then your not a member so you can't post on the forums. Or if you don't have to be logged into the game just logged in then your losing time on your membership while your on the forums.

So basically it won't happen and I don't want it to happen.

This would more than half Jagex's revenue. Even if you play for 12 hours a day (cough, N0valyfe!COUGH cough, ahem!) your membership wouldlast twice as long as it does today. If you play for 2-3 hours a day, which I would guess is about average, your membership lasts up to 12 times longer. Tha means that Jagex would be getting on average as much money out of you in a year as they currently do in a month.

Somehow, I don't think they would favour that idea...

A better idea would be to be able to 'suspend' your membership for a minimum time of 7 days. This would allow you to be able to take a holiday without continuing to pay membership fees.

Yeah dude, this is a dumb idea. It takes me 24 days to finish about 24 hours of game play. Times that by 30 and it takes me exactly 2 years to use up my membership  LOL. Do they make money now?
