October 28, 200619 yr Well, I decided to make a pixel and with eckered's assistance I came up with this, Please rate and tell me what I could improve on.
October 28, 200619 yr When I look at this piece the first thing I notice is the castle. It's a bit blocky, but it is your first after all. The biggest thing you need to do with it, is get it off of the horizon. Move it down some so that it seems to be sitting on the ground, instead of having to use your imagination (pretending the castle is on a hill, behind the one you can see). Nex thing.. Shading. I can see a little bit, but it's very subtle. And I'd suggest dithering instead of pillow shading. ;) That's all I'm going to say. I don't want to be harsh since this is your first. I suggest making the moon a bit brighter, so you can more clearly see it's the light source. Or something like that. And aye, bringing the castle down a bit. Winsauce, we aren't harsh, we're just not leading the poster into a false sense of achievement. We don't say do more and post them all, we ask for them to practice by themselves first then post their best one. From there we can help more. Seriously, first signatures are never usually good. Pixel, abstract or 3D - their rarely good for a first time.

October 30, 200619 yr The shading isn't too bad for a first try, the stars are a little ugly though, make them a light blue rather than bright white. To be honest it's just a castle at the moment... you need some sort of focus point to make this picture mean something.
