Err no not jail. Jagex would/may just ban the account or give you a warning, or possibly just return the money and return it to a non-members account. I've honestly never heard of anyone getting in trouble for this. Hehehe

In addition to violating a rs rule, you need user/pass in order to purchase membership, so you're running a risk of losing your account to some stranger.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also, if you ever lost your pass, jagex use the payment information as one of the checks before giving your character back.

When you sign up for membership, they do state if you are not paying for someone in your immediate family or yourself, they can prosecute you. So technically it is a criminal offence (at least in England).

However, it can be done.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To minimise the risk, you can have a RL friend pay for you. After all, JaGEx want the money and don't really care who sends it. I think the rule is meant for your own protection.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you have membership activated, change the password, pin and recovery questions and you should be fine. There's always a risk, however, so it is NOT recommended. If it's a RL friend, at least you can beat him up :twisted:

it is possible..i originally bought membership for my main but decided not to use it on my main and tried to use on my pure and it worked.

If you wish to purchase membership for someone outside of your family, we recommend you give them the money to allow them to directly purchase the membership for their account.

well you could just call the Runescape Pay by phone place get the pin and give it to your friend.. along with the phone number u rang it from.

Depends.. Real life is okay, but those guys who sit in free worlds saying "Free membership!" are just scammers. Even so.. Why not just do the pay by mail thing once a year?
