November 2, 200619 yr You could try something more useful to your effort, like calling your Senator or Congressmen. I would reccomend not blaming the Federal Government, who has no say in criminal laws. Why don't you try your State government which has all the power to prosecute criminals in your state. November 2, 200619 yr I'm confused. So by sitting down during the pledge which claims "liberty and justice for all" - aren't you saying you don't support "liberty and justice for all?" It seems to me that if you wanted to fight for "liberty and justice for all" you would stand up during the pledge and scream that line as loud as you can. That's what I did in high school. I screamed the words "one nation, under God" at the top of my lungs so everyone knew I was fighting for that. I know people who sit down during the pledge because they don't like the words "under God" in the pledge. You sitting down might look like you're doing so because you don't like the words "for liberty and justice for all" in the pledge. Maybe you should try shouting the words "liberty and justice for all" in order to let everyone know that's what you're fighting for. It might be more effective.
November 2, 200619 yr When you say you sit down during the pledge - it's not going to do you any good. If I say you doing that I'd think you were against liberty and justice. Try a bit harder. Different approach, maybe? Or if you really care stop blaming the police and go find your own dang evidence before complaining. That might really help.
November 2, 200619 yr We are actually reading a fictional book about something with this in it. The book is called Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. In the book, I believe Stargirl says the pledge like this I pledge alligence to the United Turtles of America and to the Fruit Bats of Borneo. One planet in the Milky Way. Incredible, with justice and black bean burritos for all Now I know that sounds quite childish, but it's in the book (about a conformed high school, with only 1 non-conformed student AKA Stargirl). Tis' a great book. I'm a guy and I'm throughly enjoying it. I'm a guy but I still like Romances :3> . I love it, it's a fantastic book. I would recommend it for Middle-High School. Although I'm sure an older elementary school student would enjoy it as well. I really underestimated this book, by the name of it :roll: , but it's fantastic. Pick it up, it's great!

So you're implying that people should be locked up without evidence?Would that in itself not be a constraint on peoples liberty and against the whole ideal of justice. Last time I looked everyone had the right to be innocent until proven guilty beyond all reasonable doubt (as is the case in most democratic societies). Personally I feel that sitting during the plede of allegiance is a pointless protest, you as an individual isnt going to be given a platform of any importance to air your grievances with the state of the legal system by protesting in this way. If you have a serious concern you should try raising it with a politician or joing some sort of organised protest group to make your point instead of making yourself seem like some one man crusade. Those methods in my opinion will be taken more seriously also.
