This is kind of fun to think about. Oftentimes, people differentiate between good and bad reasons to dislike someone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For instance, we all agree that it is a bad reason to dislike someone because of their skin their color. It is not a bad thing to be one color or the other - and they didn't choose to be black, white, or whatever color they may be. The same goes for physically handicapped people. Maybe you get annoyed that at amusement parks people in wheelchairs seem to get to cut in line. But they have a hard time and didn't choose to be handicapped.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So what is a good reason to dislike someone? If someone is rude to you, is it something they can help? How mean do you have to be before it becomes something that "is just how they are" to something that you can not like someone for?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Or maybe you think that anything someone does - any choice they make - is a reason to dislike them. Maybe voting Republican is a reason to dislike someone? Maybe Michael Jackson's skin color is a reason to dislike him because he chose to do that.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But then again, Michael Jackson's skin color doesn't affect you in a negative why. Voting Republican, however, could. So is that a good reason to dislike someone?

It takes a LOT to dislike some person, at least for me. I can name very few people I know personally or have talked to, if at all, that I "hate".

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I do despise a lot of people, a good example being those who will purely judge a person based on his nationality, skin color, language, handicap or any other factor which the person can't personally effect. I feel sorry that a human should live his/her life in such an illusion and not realize he's being a *.

I dislike people that follow large crowds and do whatever it takes to be "popular", and despise everyone else that doesn't do what they do because of their low self esteem.

I dislike people who consistently make decisions based off emotion instead of logic. I'm sure there are a few others, but I can't think of anything else right now.

I dislike attention seekers who get their attention by putting other people down. I can get along fine with most people but someone who just attacks random people for something superficial like their clothing or hair-do and expects me to be impressed gets a fair few rude words forced down their ears.

i don't really dislike many people. I am a likeable guy, most respect me IRL and if they do not it's simply jealousy...or they lack a reason

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I get along with almost anyone i come in contact with...there are only a few people I have ever disliked

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

for instance...i dislike my calculus college TA for giving me a 0 on a quiz for being absent (i had the measles). when i asked to take it, she said it was policy that I take a zero. "Don't worry though, I drop your lowest grade". I emailed her the day before the next class asking for the lessons i had missed and she refused to give them to me but rather to "Get in contact with a classmate, get the notes from them, and teach it to yourself in 12 hours for the next quiz..."

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

i found that situation completely unreasonable, and this is not the first time something like that happened with this woman, so i choose to dislike her as a teacher, and a person for being unreasonable.

I have only truly seriously disliked one person, he was a racist **** and did whatever possible to make me feel unwelcome, uncomfortable and as small as an ant. He was outrightly mean and downright nasty, and as far as I know the only reason he did what he did was because of my mixed race background. But yeah I told my university about him and he was moved from my halls and I haven't seen or heard from him since. I hope not to as well.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Other then that, people annoy and irritate me, but I wouldn't really call it dislike. And yeah the common theme of people striving to fit in somewhere because they are too insecure to just be themselves gets my goat, but yeah it's only a petty annoyance. If that's what they want to do they can go ahead and do it, as long as I don't follow.

If they don't annoy you in any way, then you can't dislike anyone.

There's not much people who I dislike. People who generally aren't really honest, aren't very high in my book. Neither are people are too like, too much in the foreground when they haven't really got a reason for. And what about people that always think it's necessary to look down on people that have lesser education. And for some reason I don't like people who choose their music on what fits best with their new jeans. Or people who act like they actually know something because they've seen an independant movie or something. It's so easy to see trough, but they don't really notice it for themselves. It bothers me. But it isn't so dramatically as the first few things.

I totally dislike people that think they are far above other people because of their 'superior opinions that are always right' or because of their wealth.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Is there really anything that could annoy more than arrogant people?

I dislike people when they call other people by what their religion/race are. Like theres kids in my grade who call other kids by "mormon" "christian" and "native." The kids being called it dont care, but it just bothers me.

Before answering this question we need to differentiate between hating someone and hating who they are. :wink:
