New Rap = Funny, not Good

No offence to you, but the songs you posted consist of mindless drivel full of the same-old rhymes. Bojangles? Have you listened to the words in that song? "If you don't know her name, it's cool call her this, jigga jigga call that girl Bojangles". Uhm... what? Now I listen to a lot of hip hop music, but I have to say, I've ceased to buy any new release cds for quite a while because of this.

And for the record, there's more to life than women and money. And although I haven't really heard much rock and metal music, I'm pretty sure they don't all sing (if any do) about cutting themselves.

thats a great song :D such a good beat.

No. It's not. Nowhere near being considered a great song.

well its not great like mozart or beethoven but i mean i really like it.

I wasn't even comparing it to stuff like that, I was saying it's not a great song compared to other rap songs.

the rap nowadays (dunno how 2 spell it) is all about cash, chicks and cars.

plus, they always rap about the ''hood'' and how poor they were, but i think most of em weren't born in such place. (just an opinion)

and people say rappers only sing about women and money and drugs. well thats because those are the good things in life.(not drugs)and rock songs sing about drugs. wat do other song sing about cutting yourself?

Rappers do only sing about that, and you're right, some of those are the good things in life. But when every single mainstream rapper sings the same exact thing to a slightly different beat with a different rhythm? That's lame. I rarely listen to rap, myself, but when I do, it's always Eminem or Ludacris. Eminem for his amazing talent with words and emotions and Ludacris 'cause he's hilarious...

I listen to loads of rock and metal, though, and there is no rock or metal about cutting yourself. That's emo. Unlike rap, emotions go into rock songs, not bragging, not attempted "thuggishness", and certainly no "gangsta" posing.

As for new rap, even I have been sorely unimpressed, and I rarely listen to it. Kanye West has a few good songs, but comparing himself to Jesus shot him down for me. Diddy? No. Nas is one of the few good recent rappers, even though he's been out a while. Most of your others I've never heard of, but song titles probably tell me enough.

Chris Brown isn't so much hip hop as he is an Usher wannabe with all his songs about wooing women rather than buying them. I like the song "Mr. Lonely" by Akon, I thought it was relatively original for today's rap scene.

What it all boils down to, though, is that even the rockers on this site know that rap died a while back. And it's just not what it used to be.

Yeah raps lost a lot of respect. Trying to take it from a broad minded point of view here as tbh I dislike rap a fair bit, but all the proper rap music died years ago. it's all just so. manufactured these days.

I myself don't know much, if not anything about rap at all, but I (think) I can say this: I'd rather have them talking about funny inapropriate things than killing cops and taking drugs.

I personally hate all rap, so my opinion could be completly wrong. :-s
