I think the general problem people have is when they have to take extra time to figure out what someone is saying due to poor spelling or grammar - most people don't get irritated or comment about ridiculously minuscule mistakes.

Writing, "I have a cat and also a dog" is terrible. The sentence is wordy and poorly constructed.

"I have also" generally refers to an action, as in, "I have also graded all of the exams." You would use "I also have" in terms of possession, such as the example you gave.
