Price drop on Obby capes?

Featured Replies

You would expect that since the 99 skill capes came out, people would be dumping alot of these capes on the market. Thus dropping price. But no !

I just got 99 str and got my achievement cape and wanted to sell my old obby cape. I checked forums and wham, same prices !

Is there that few people with 99 skills? Are the capes not being dumped?

Is it being off-set by new players wanting the old capes? Hmmm

Geaux Tigers ! Congrats on a great year !

Contrary to popular belief, it is stil the case that a very small percentage of the ACTIVE RuneScape playing population has a 99 in any skill, let alone two.

This, combined with the relatively large amounts of Obby Capes on the market mean that there is a low demand for skill capes (namely because so few people can actually earn one).

The reason there has not been a big shift in price is that, simply, not very many people can earn a skill cape.

You act like the game community is like the stinking bowels of hell.... In all reality.. its much.. much... worse.

im not so sure about that, there are thousands of people with 99 cooking and fletching, and alot with 99 in cb stats. I think there are plenty with the capes I see them everywhere i go.

However, there must still be plenty of lower lvls who keep the demand steady.

Well, yes, in absolute magnitude there are a lot of 99's, and we also have to think about quest capes, which are far more prevalent, (just my experience, not necessarily true). However, when you look at the vast majority of members who do NOT have a 99 or 222 quest points (or whatever), we see that the achievement cape population is quite an elite club indeed. I can back this up with math, if you'd like.

A lot of people with 99 capes have a lava too, meaning they got rid of obby cape a while ago.

first of all that maybe true about the FIRE CAPE because you have it you ditch the old obby cape. yeah whatever. but still obby capes are brought into the game daily where as 99 capes arent as much, i bet 1 person gets 99 fletching everyday you know generally but on the average its probably 5 a day. but its clearly easy to get 1 obby cape a day.

i think the amount of people with skill capes isnt big enough to impact the amount of people that have obby capes

There may be quite a few people with a 99 skill buy some of them have multiple 99s. Lets say there are 70,000 people with a 99 in a skill. 20,000 of these have multiple 99s. That leaves us with only 50,000 different people with a skill cape. Those 50,000 aren't going to make as much of an impact as the 70,000 would have. Take into account how many people are innactive or F2P and you have a much smaller number.

this cus obby capes still own

I totally agree, but what about quest capes? My highest level is magic 72, still light-years away from any 99 cape, but I do have a quest cape! There are possibly twice as many qp capes out there as there are skill capes, and they have the same stats, you'd think that would affect it a little?

Meh, I like my mage cape :P But There are probably isint enough people that have 99s to affect, a 99 is a lot harder to get then 200k (or whatever) and lot of people probably don't wanna waste the time to spend all the time getting a 99, because in a lot of skills, they top off before 99, and getting anything higher then necessary is just for ranks/looks.

I dont like the obby cape Period. I dont see the point in spending 200k - 250k+ on a Cape Only..i'd rather wear my god cape or Legends cape..it has more meaning and appeal than a obby cape.
