  1. Actually he didn't play for ranks. He didn't care that he lost his rank to Elias. Get your facts straight kid. How is that a fact exactly? First of all neither you nor anyone on this thread truly knows whether he cares or not. Considering the whole back and forth battle for #1, where he kept switching from slayer and buyables (correct me if I am wrong) every time Elias came close tells me that he cares on some level. Actually I talk to both Telmo and Elias on a daily basis. I know why Telmo is quitting if he fully decides too. I know what he cared for. Telmo loved the competition also. It's not just all about he cared. If Telmo wanted too he could've done Crawlers also but he didn't care for it. Telmo has the money to keep up but he didn't care. Don't tell me I don't know my own friends that I talk too on a daily basis. I could also say I talk to those players all the time and contradict everything you've said. Claiming you know all this information with no proof has as much validity as the post that said he only plays for ranks. Just saying. OT: I remember back when farming first came out and Zezima was not #1 on the high scores for a period of time. People made such a big deal out of that. Makes me feel old.
  2. I don't think limited items is the answer as this would just be repeating the cycle. One thing to consider would be high level, untradeable items that require lots of time/effort to get. Lets say there's a monster that costs 1m+ in supplies each time you fight it (not counting any items lost on death), and it takes hundreds of trips to get all of the items in the set. This set would be better than all other respective items in the game, and rightly so, but players can't sell it. It'd be a choice for players to get it or not. You'd have an advantage over others, but it would also take lots of time and money. This is one conceivable money sink since 1) players have to come up with the money for supplies to kill it and 2) all the time spent killing it is time they are not making money elsewhere. This is just an example of a money sink that could draw money away from the discontinued items market and towards the high-level items that players can get as drops (spirit shields, Nex armors, etc.)
  3. Any item released, no matter the levels required to use it, will decrease in price unless it is only obtainable for a limited amount of time. The problem with that scenario is there are many more players now than when party hats and the other rares were first released. Any tradeable discontinued item released now will never have the same rarity and value of the old ones.
  4. I'm in favor of micro transactions if they're done the right way. I've played games where the developers have pulled this off pretty nicely, specifically Lord of the Rings Online. For example, you can offer P2P benefits for sale to F2P players. This enables them to pick and choose which benefits they want instead of getting everything for the membership. Overall, it'd be less beneficial to buy all the perks seperately and would most likely not affect the number of subscribers but it gives casual players a certain amount of freedom. I'm also not against selling items that are cosmetic. For items that can be gotten in game, I don't see much of a point in buying them from a store since we have the Grand Exchange. I guess they could sell bundles of items like an extreme attack, defense, and strength potion set or shards, pouches, and secondaries for a certain familiar. Additionally, they could offer something along the lines of an xp booster for a set amount of time. A book that boosts your experience by 50% for 30 minutes or an hour would not have a huge impact on leveling unless a player has large amounts of real money but could be useful grinding out that last xp for a level. To combat giving a rich player an advantage, these items could always have a cooldown period where you can't use them all the time. Quest rewards should still have to be gotten in game and players shouldn't be able to buy items they don't have the skill level for. I don't think all items should be offered since players can buy them from the store and sell for gp. I'm totally against selling straight gp. I also like the idea of offering credit at the online store for in-game achievements. In LotRO, completing certain activities gives you Turbine Points, which can be used at the store. You can only get the points once per task per character, so it's not like a player could realistically milk the game for points. This offers players who don't want to spend extra money a chance to recieve the same perks. This is just my two cents though.
  5. Found this picture from March 31, 2007. No clue how much this was worth back then. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  6. I don't think you actually understand what skill is... I still don't understand why one wouldn't pray in the first place. It gives you an advantage over the other person OR if you put on the same prayers then you're evenly matched? No one cares if it's easily matched when neither side can "win" due to lack of KO potential for both sides. That's why more and more pkers are switching to hybridding and tribridding. You can KO someone relatively easy as long as you are better at switching styles, which takes skill. No one hybrids in edgeville or normal pkiing worlds when it's ridiculously crowded with claw/korasi rushers everywhere you look. Don't pk in Edgeville then. There are plenty of other spots that are pretty popular.

  8. In the original wild, completing clue scrolls was not hard. I never took more than three good items (four if I used protect item). I would maybe risk 50k if I died trying to do a clue. Pkers generally left you alone because you were not really worth the effort. They might get a set of black dhide and a strength amulet. Don't go out in all your best gear and you'll be fine. Drop your clue before you die and you can go back and pick it up. Things weren't difficult. Clue scrolls should be a null point for this argument.
  9. I fished there for around 200k xp but left because I couldn't stand it. I find it really boring there.
  10. Thanks for all the replies. After 99 fishing I'm not sure what I'll do. I will probably get 99 cooking or fletching so I can get the trimmed fishing cape.
  11. I always have my private on. If I get a strange pm I'll just put them on my ignore list.
  12. I've been fishing off an on for easily a year now but I don't know any exact numbers. I would say they're decent at 80.
  13. I started sharks at around level 80 and I will probably fish them til 99.
  14. Right now I think I'm going to just keep fishing til I get 99.
  15. Somewhere between 200 and 300. Most people don't say they have them.
  16. Great job so far =D> Are you going to pk after 99 strength or do you have other things in mind?
  17. And here's what I've been going for all along Now it's time for 94 fishing.
  18. Less then an hour after that I got this 8-) I'm less than 25k from 78 defence so I will be getting 1600 total off that.
  19. I'm definitely going to get 80 def there so I'll probably take a break after that and get a few fishing levels. Thanks for the replies so far :P
