Microsoft Word Formatting Question ARGHH!

Heya!

I've just got a small question to do with some work I am doing in Microsoft Word which is driving me nuts not to know how to figure it out and change it! So I'm asking you guys! ::'

Below is a screen shot of the work I'm doing (Just some sample questions I need to prepare for German Class). And I've got to add answer lines, but my problem is I want the lines to be aligned and look neat at the end of the line (like the red lines I have added). And I've tried everything but they are all slightly off (only by a little but still it annoys me not to know how to fix this problem). I've tried a fair few methods like aligning the text, and stuff like that but it nothing worked. By the way if I try just adding another underscore "_" it makes the line go to the next one.

So can anyone help me out here please.

Oh by the way its got to be in 2 columns.

Here's the Screen Shot Below.

Doing it in html would be much easier (tables are out of the question though! CSS ftw :D) but I had a fiddle in word and came up with this:

It's 4 columns and the 2nd and 4th columns are just the same number of underlines. The bit udnerneath is the same thing, just with non-printed characters turned on (or whatever word calls it.) It's an ugly way of doing it, and takes a bit of fiddling to get the column widths right, but if you want, this is all I can suggest. There ought to be a better way though :-?

Surprised nobody noticed the nice little "Table" button on the options bar at the top. :P

Under Table you can either "draw table" and drag it out, splitting cells to fit your use, or you can go down to "insert" (in the table menu) and "insert table", selecting the dimensions. Much easier than writing it in HTML.

Just turn on the Underline and use the Tab Key. It'll add a large space that takes it to the next 1/2" mark. This will line it up exactly where you want it each time, because it can't stop or be specific lengths.

don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?

I'm not sure if you can in word, but you can in openoffice.org (openoffice is fweee!!! I used to use Microsoft, and love openofice now. Even though you can save it in microsoft word compatible documents i still keep a thumbdrive with openoffice on it so i can run it off any computer.

Cool thanks heaps!`

I've fixed it now! :D

Just to answer Mr Putters question, you can but as the length of the words are all different it would be too much fiddling around just to change the lines so that they are all even, and then when you want to write more text below the lines move and everything causing to much of a hassle.

Oh and also I tried doing it by inserting a table but I couldn't figure that out and it didn't work. So I tried just putting the underline on and pressing tab and that worked perfectly! :D

So thanks once again!
