wzzl
I am always trying to find the fasted method of training in any skill. Now I did a little research on leveling hunter at a fairly high level. I started at lvl 60 and tried out which was faster xp. Red salamanders or red chinchompas. So I hunted them both for exactly an hour of non stop training. This may not be realy realistic due to that it's crowded sometimes, but it is the best way to actualy compare the xp. So here are the results: Hunted: red salamanders Lvl: 60-62 xp: 58k Bait or smoking: no notes: the 58k xp may not be realistic because of random events which will cause you to lose nets, trap stealers and crowded words. But the populairity seems to be diminish. I would say 50k xp is archievable. A disadvantage is that you can't set up more than 4 traps. =============================================== Hunted: red chinchompas lvl:63-64 xp: 42k Bait or smoking: no notes: Obviously this is not as fast as the red salamanders, but it is not as crowded as at salamanders. Also you dont need extra inventory space for the chinchompas as they are stackable, so you can take a full inventory of extra boxes for when you lose some. An other major advantage is that you get an ownage ranging weapon! :) I got about 160 in one hour. =============================================== Conclusion: It is up to you what you want to hunt. They seem good both. I think the red chinchompas will be better experience at higher lvls because I failed A LOT at my lvl (I failed about 3 of 4 traps). When I got to level 64 I already saw a signicifant difference ( only fail about 2 out of 3, lot for 1 lvl). Also at lvl 80 you can set up 5 traps what is not possible at salamanders. =============================================== Red Salamanders with smoking traps: lvl:64-65 xp: 51k notes: a litle disapointing, Thought it would be more than without smoking. Maybe the 58k is too high? I might retest that... =============================================== I smoked some chincompas for an hour. hunted: red chinchompas lvl: 65-66 xp: ~40k Smoking or baiting: only smoking notes: Smoking is bad for you health irl, and it bad too in runescape. So don't start smoking! =============================================== Submitted by un1kmage (thanks! :)): hunted: dashing kebbits lvl: 69 xp: 42.8k Notes:failing a lot, might be more at dark kebbits. =============================================== Submitted by Nuke Marine: Hunting Level (50-52) Orange salamanders, 3 traps, using smoking and bait. (wearing Ghorak cammies) Laid 150 traps, caught 90 (60% catch rate) in 30 minutes Xp per hour - ~40k I'll do this once more then head back to green lizards. I was failing often on orange salamanders without the bait but I did not track the rate though. Could make for a nice chart of failure w/ and w/out smoking and or bait. Baiting salamanders is ok as it's stackable. As for time, I look at it like this: If it's failing too much, I'm not getting xp. Better I take extra time setting up a trap to increase xp than to quickly go through traps and not catch anything. On the other hand, if the gain is not high enough, I'm better off saving time not setting up the trap with smoke or bait.
NukeMarine
With Salamanders and Chinchompas, you may want to try: 1. With smoking - most will smoke their traps anyway though. I assume you were smoking your traps for this? 2. With bait and smoking - Getting 1k tar takes about an hour which will last you A LONG TIME and is stackable. Chinchompa's bait is not stackable. Anyway, I think it'd be worthwhile to see how much experience you get with bait Learn how to Learn Japanese on your own - Nukemarine's Suggested Guide for Beginners in JapaneseStop Forgetting Stuff for College and Life - Anki - a program which makes remembering things easyReach Elite Fitness - CrossFit
wzzl
I was NOT smoking or baiting, mainly because You don't realy have time for it, when you have set your trap anotherone has already collapsed or closed. At least this is at salanders. At chinchompas I have a little more time so I'll try smoking (not baiting becoz it is not stackable) Actualy i will try smoking at salamanders too. Now actualy. :P

I trained on red chinchompas, and either they all get caught at same time, or they disable all traps, but anyway, i had no free time. Only smoking the traps, no bait, ro rest. :P edit: I personally use falconry, it is more relax. I should count how much xp i get an hour catching dashing, I'll be back with the info. un1kmage
Allright, so after an hour of Dashing kibbit catching (lvl 69+) I have gotten 42.8k xp. But I think I would get more xp catching dark ones, because I've been missing a lot on dashing, due to my level (I think, I'm right on 69) I think that catching dark kibbits, I could get around 46-48k xp/hour, but that's just a guess. You can add that in your first post :)
wzzl
Ok thanks I'll add it. I have been catching red salamanders with smoking the traps. I got 51k xp which I found a litle disapointing. I thought I would actualy getting more. Maybe the 58k xp without was a little too high? I might retest it after I try smoking at chomps, tomorrow though. Now it sleepy timy... Keenie
I havn't really tryed the red sallys, but the red chimchompas seem to be the easiest/best xp I've found so far. I usually get around 50k xp/ hour. Last time I kept tracked I needed 113kxp, and i got it in 2 hours, so thats about 57kxp/hour. I'm also 77 hunter atm, can't remember the xp at lower lvls. wzzl
Oi thanks for all the responses while I was gone. I am inclined to follow the high level hunter and say that red chinchompas are better xp. But I still fail to much, so I would say red salamanders up to lvl 70 and then red chinchompas all the way to lvl 99. I am not sure though on What Uular said that The Hate catches dashing kebbits. They seen pretty slow at lower levels, but maybe when you are 80+ thay are better. I can't test it because I'm only lvl 65.
Keenie
ah that post just reminded me. I used normal chinchompas, basically from when I could catch them right up until lvl 69 before switching over to the red chinchomps til 77. It was way easier since you don't have to compete for spots really.

wzzl
I just saw the current #1: Thehate hunting red chinchompas. This confirms my theory that red chinchompas are faster xp at high lvls. BUT I think the only reason Darkforest67 has about TWICE AS MUCH XP(!) is that there is another, better spot. One that even Thehate does not know. I mean. I cannot believe Darkforrest67 has played twice as much as Thehate... That is just impossible. So now we only have to search for that secret spot 8-) By the way, did you notice Zezima has given up his #1 rank? He is currently lvl 57 Hunting... So when the highscores stabalize Uloveme would be ranked first with about 710M xp. Dunno who would be 2nd...
