stevepole
everyone can download the beta and use it for a 2 day period, but if you bought cs2 or some of the other new adobe products you can use your serial code and get a serial code for cs3 beta for unlimited use i believe. pryomancer
Oooh CS3! I didn't know it was out yet, I don't look at the Adobe site regularly enough. *runs off to load up site* EDIT: found some basic info- Adobe is exploring offering two versions of Photoshop CS3, a Standard version and a Premium version. According to one plan under consideration, some principle new features, such as Camera Raw 4, would be available to both versions, while other functionality, such as Vanishing Point 2, would be available with more advanced options in the Premium version. Still other features, such as rotoscoping that was introduced in CS2, would be moved exclusively to the Premium package. Sources have also disclosed that Photoshop CS3 will include significant improvements to non-destructive image editing and that the software is prepped to receive a rather significant interface overhaul that will better organize tools and options. Tablet users will be pleased to learn that Photoshop CS3 will adopt a number of features Corel currently packs into Painter, including an easily rotatable canvas designed to mimic drawing on paper. Vanishing Point 2 will also improve Photoshop's perspective-based editing, introduced in CS2, by allowing objects to wrap around multiple surfaces, measure distances, and export to CAD applications. Photoshop CS3 will also deliver significant performance improvements to Camera Raw and include new measurement and scale tools. Synopsis: Basically some new features for camera raw files and some new features for tablet users, as well as some new measurement and perspective tools. pryomancer
Photoshop 7 is still the industry standard, it does everything you need anyway, all the other following versions have things that we probably won't need like the perspective tool thing. I had it for a long time until I got the chance to upgrade, so I thought I might as well.

Me too, until I hear some really good things about it. I won't bother. I didn't see much difference between 7 and cs2 enough for me to want to get cs3. Protect the Light... zerosouls
Anyone know how much RAM you need to run these smoothly? I use CS1 and it works perfectly but when i tried CS2 it ran so slow, it's like they packed it full of junk.
pryomancer
You can mess around with the Preferences, like reduce history states etc, those eat up RAM like the hungry caterpillar I tell thee.
