Should i get --- round 87 cb -- 60 att 80 str 60 def or Stay where I am? Also wt should i bring for rune mining? I was thinking --- ful d-hind, rune pick, tele? Sorry Posted January 13, 2007 Share Posted January 13, 2007 Hi, great that you have almost made that huge achievement. On topic: I always brought a rune plate and rune legs, plus the pick ofcourse. I also brought falador teleport spells, its quite an easy and calm road. I also brought 5 swordfish, and for the rest some salmons. I mined until I had 20 ores, dropping the salmons. I take rune plate and legs, because I want a nice balance against defence and speed, and if I get killed (which I never got) keep an ore, and besided the extra defence of a shield wont help you much. I didnt choose for dragonhide because you will be able to flee from lone mage pkers at all times, you will never encounter a mage clan. The only time you can get killed is because of a clan, which you should avoid by using a scout (however with the great number of pures lately, using scouts could be a time consuming method) Clans use magic and melee most often, but the melee will damage you hardest, with rune you shouldnt have much problem escaping a small clan, I done it many times. Good luck with runemining, don't get disappointed when rocks are always grey, and pures are bugging your scout, it'll happen, but you'll still be able to gain from f2p's greatest money making method (through production) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have seen them in deep wildy more than enough times. But, if you keep watch on the area around you, if you see a lot of dots coming towards you, simply log out, better to be safe than sorry. Walking along the west side of the wildy is a lot safer when leaving because its not multicombat. lymnli Posted January 13, 2007 Share Posted January 13, 2007 When you are able to mine rune, my tactic is bring only teles and a pickaxe and at least 5 lobs lobs remember to recharge prayer recharge your energy (if its low.....just walk for abit or merchant) Never run (waste energy) until you see someone attack you dont walk up near the castle or hill giants unless you have a death wish.. :-s because you have so little items, you dont loose alot when you die and its light weight. if the rune rock pker or some random guy is ranging or magic you, you then start running to the west where ice giants and worrior are. they are aggressive and they will attack this pker. if they are melee, run the opposite direction and log out.. *dont log back after 15 sec..... =.= HAPPY RUNE MINING "The death of one man is a tragedy. Sorry Posted January 14, 2007 Share Posted January 14, 2007 You don't need to level combat up, extra defence and HP gives you minor extra protection. But about the mage clans, when I mined rune for about a year ago, I never encountered a mage clan in those weeks maybe it is different now, but most of the times, magic is less powerfull then melee, except against armor. aznmidget448 Posted January 14, 2007 Share Posted January 14, 2007 If it were me, I'd bring monk robes + prayer amulet + pick axe. You would lose almost nothing because it's easy to obtain that stuff, and you could protect prayer giving you a nice shield (but still able to hit through it). Your points go down so slowly so you can also use other prayers (defense). Lastly, if you happen to be low hp, you can just turn on protect item for three ores + pick axe. I'm thinking of not getting def up cause i heard that the 10 lvls don't really make a difference. I might as well get the str lvls, cause 1. I'll be a better pker in general :thumbsup: , and 2. So getting any other stat then defence up won't increase your chances of escaping, especially, because the only way you can get killed at runemining is when a clan attacks you, and fighting back won't help you then at all. When attacked, run with protect from melee, super defense, and protect item to 20 wildy, then tele. Your prayer should last the run if it is full. rusty_073 Posted January 14, 2007 Share Posted January 14, 2007 I've found the offensive tactic to be pretty effective. I usually go with full mith (because i can smith it), str ammy and scimmy and a full load of lobbies. This means I can usually mine the rocks when no one is there and scare off or kill lower levels. However whenever a higher level or a team comes I just log. Make sure that you always have the logout screen up so you can quickly log out when trouble comes, its a good tip. Also if you do get attacked, try to lure them over through the agressive red spiders or ice giants which may give you a chance to get away and log.
