icecube
No matter what you smith, you always get the same amount of experience per bar. It just tells you have many bars you need to smith.

pedrahm5
If you're going to alch what you smith, you should always make platebodies though
compfreak847
Regardless of what you alch, platebodys are better. Each item takes the same time to make, regardless of if it is using 5 bars or 1. So, you will smith a load much faster making platebodys then things that use 1 bar, such as daggers. Drops: 1x Draconic Visage, 56x Abyssal Whip, 5x Demon Head, D Drops: 37, Barrows Drops: 43, DK Drops: 29GWD drops: 14,000x Bars, 1x Armadyl Hilt, 2x Armadyl Skirt, 4x Sara Sword, 1x Saradomin Hilt, 8x Bandos Hilt, 8x Bandos Platebody, 9x Bandos Tassets, 4x Bandos Boots, 43x Godsword Shard, 82x Dragon BootsDry streak records: Saradomin 412 kills Bandos 988 kills Spirit Mages 633 kills - Slayer Sucks

From my experience (which isn't much, but whatever) it's best to make platebodies and then just find a nice place you enjoy being around and alch like mad :P

Ya but the reason I said that for alching is that each item would also be taking up 300gp (1 nat), so you'd lose the least amount of gp if you alched more bars per nat. Doomster
Platebodies also have the highest alch value per bar. Also, making 10 items of 3 bars or more uses up most of your inventory in one action. PS. Another example... steel plates alch for 1200 - you need to get to a Mithril Kite before you beat that, but a Mithril long is the best 3 bar item if struggling for levels. In value per bar terms, Platebodies are best (except Rune, valued at about half what it should be on the same scale), followed by legs and two handers (3 bar items)
