Darfur, and what can be done.

You seem to be under the illusion that the UN actually has power... if only!

I can understand that frontline infantry doesn't feel happy about the situation in Iraq. However, since as I can only speak about British soldiers, I will do so. And there have been major cases in the UK about the US-lead coalition (led by Bush and Blair) not equipping soldiers with decent armour, and not having a proper exit strategy! This is a direct result of G. Bush's foreign policy, which under the US Constitution, the president does have the right to dictate. Thus it IS G. Bush's fault the situation in Iraq has turned so bad.

Well that's fair, it's clear that that particular soldier wants to stay and fight. He seems to hate Democrats though, and glorifies his "commander-in-chief" (which I would point out is actually G. Bush). I would question his political alignment, if he's a Republican, he's almost certainly gaurenteed to dispise the way the Republican Bush is a sitting duck because the Democrats own Congress, regardless of his situation in Iraq.

Anyways, this is going off-topic...

lol, not to turn this into a flame war but, WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT WAR! this war in iraq is screwed, yes, but not due to g bush or the US army. this war getting out of hand because the liberals keep telling the army, navy, marine corps, and air force how to fight this war from the comfort of our capitel. ill put up a post telling how the average front line soldier feels about iraq.

anyway, victor, good post, but the only way africa will be helped is if we kill (did i say that! #-o ) all the UN leaders and find some guys who will take charge and get things done in th UN.

It is my personal belief that these events are a form of natural selection. I believe that countries who have risen above the level of such atrocities should completely isolate themselves from countries that cannot seem to get it together. In every way, any country involved in the UN should withdraw any form of contact with countries that can't seem to shape up and ignore anything that happens in them.

This is the reason I have strongly opposed any form of intervention in Iraq despite Saddam being a mass murderer, and its the same reason I oppose any intervention in Darfur. I don't believe it is any country's responsibility to act as the World Police.

Next time I walk by your house and a robber has a gun to your head, Instead of calling the police or comming in trying to save you, i'll just say and think.. "Oh, this is just natures way of natural selection".

Wake up, its people killing people, not nature killing people.

Exactly, Darwin's theory of evolution may work when people are killing to survive, but when they're killing to kill, his theory is void, and that has been proven.

Some things I've learned after reading this thread.

Thanks MyPurpleCrayon and Not for contributing...well, nothing.

At least Bloodredsword related his post specifically to this topic.

Post counts mean NOTHING:

Go through this thread and find the most intelligent posts, most people with 2,000+ posts in this thread have proven to be uselss to the thread.

Flame me for flaming you, I dont care, most people posting here aren't educated at all if they think that this is happening all over the world, or that nothing can be done, or they have to fend for themselves.

Lets go back in time why dont we? To World War II, from what I remember there was a genocide going on, with a person named Hitler in charge. At first it began on a small scale of just discriminating, but the escalated to mass killings of people for no real reason besides race, religion or 'inferiority' to his view of a 'prefect' person. This is called genocide, it got out of controll and what did we do? We intervened. Most of the time you learn from your mistakes, when a country or group is growing because of force, something is wrong, I guess that doesn't apply in this case; we've learned nothing. We're going to wait until it is out of hand and millions have died before we finally get that swift kick in the [wagon] and say "Woah! What the hell were we thinking?!" and then when it's all said and done, I'm sure the same thing will happen another 50 years or so from then.

Last time we decided to get rid of the genocide before messing up and begininning a very controversial war, I guess we flipped it this time. <.<

I Support Whats Trendy? This genocide is rarely known about, you obviously know nothing about it.

Spelling helping a case? No, his points can still be 100% valid, spelling and grammar don't dictate intelligence, look at our own president. He's not the greatest with words as you should clearly know, but that doesn't mean that he isn't smart, he went to both Harvard and Yale, and is the president of the United States, of course he's extreemly bright.

Rarely known about? Are you kidding me?! I can't walk down the halls of my school without some obnoxious hippie shoving a jar of money in my face screaming at me to give money! You're an idiot, I have gone to the rallies, I have watched the movies, I KNOW about it. You are assuming I know nothing about it, and you're wrong. Kids are dying, it's sad, I'm sorry, I can't help it. Kids are dying here in America too, kids are dying in South America also, the Dominican Republic, Asia, it's hard to believe right? I thought Africa was the only place in the entire world that needed help! Who knew? How about those obnoxious idiots not only help the smallest part of the world, but supply the rest of the world that needs help too instead of being so damn hypocritical. I give to charity, I do my share of helping everyone that I can, not just Sudan and Darfur.

The rest of the world needs help with food, and luckily, that's gradually getting better, but how does war affect a country? Well, it destroys it, we know that from the past, look in the past and you'll see rations on everything during the harder times of war, if a poor country is at war, what happens when they dont have the supplies? They loose, and who wins? Joseph, another terrible dictator.

I thought we were done after Saddam? No, we arn't, great, we got rid of one, and are beginning to set of a stable government, but heck while were doing this, were ignoring the another terrible dictator's rise to power. Joseph thinks he will rule the world, and who's to stop him if he can take 2 countries in less than a generation, it's the new age Hitler or Saddam.

Rarely known about? The TV commercials I see about it nonstop beg to differ. And, how exactly were you able to assess MyPurpleCrayon's knowledge about the situation like you have?

thank God I got MyPurpleCrayon to contribute...there's still hope for the rest of you...

You didn't get MyPurpleCrayon to contribute, you got him to show you how wrong you were in your initial post. Do you consider it to be an accomplishment when you have people prove that you have no idea what you're talking about?
