AeonSan
Ahhh....Websense, the name that strikes emnity to many freedom of speechers. First of all, i need help on getting past the blasted firewall in order to access research sites for many of my schools papers, i.e. http://www.pbs.org, where there is streaming content that will help me out a lot. Also, i need to access blogging sites and forums where current political issues are discussed. Blasted government class... :wall: So far, i have tried programs, i.e. packeters, ssh, http-tunneling, circumventor sites. So far, only 3 sites that i currently found have worked, however, 2 were recently blocked. Command prompt is available in Area 2, but disabled in Area 1. Also, rightclicking in start menu and possibly desktop is disabled. External programs aren't allowed to install and don't even work. Javascript is enabled though. Also, taskmanager is disabled and no way to reach safe mode on these compters. And ip-blocking is enabled including domain blocking. I hope u guys can help me with this cause Websense is becoming a pain in the neck.
Celt23
Ask them to turn off the filter while you get what you need?
AeonSan
Things is...network admin still don't. Friends and I tried this to no avail. They say "If its blocked, its blocked."
Bloodpure0
go to google.com (If THATS blocked, do your homework at home) search "babel fish" click on the first link http://babelfish.altavista.com/ or just go there, but google is less suspicious type in whatever page you want to go to, then click translate from spanish to english sometimes pictures and what won't load, but overall its pretty sweet also sometimes when you follow links, those will get blocked too, but if you type the exact link into babel fish, then you should be able to see it...can get tedious I know, but all in the name of defeating websense right? hope that helps
Cruiser
Your net admin is an idiot if he won't unblock legitimate research sites. Regardless, talking about how to get around web filtering has always been shunned here because of the other implications it has. Even if we did have way around the annoying pile that is Websense, it probably wouldn't last long with a net admin that refuses to unblock sites for legit work. You're better off just doing the research off site and save yourself the headache.
AeonSan
Theres a problem, my internet connection speed is, at the highest, 46.6 kbps, regular speed at 35 kbps (I play RS on Low) and loading speed is incredibly slow. File download speed for pictures on websites, 20 secs+ per picture, download speed is never at 35, but at less than 4. Second, campus library isn't very big, also been through their small selection of books (which aren't very helpful). Also, nearest public library is far away and that my parents can't drive me there as they have to work. Also, no nearby school buddies or neighbors that we know =/ (major bummer). Tried translation technique, does not work. Only good thing is that campus computer lab internet speed is 100 mbps which makes me wonder how they managed it. :-k
Mercifull
Speak to the head teacher about how important the research site is and get it unblocked. I cant help but think you want to evade the blocker for something else though as i find it incredibly hard to believe that your net admin refuses to do it. alexrider1234
Try using a proxy service, search through google and try all the links for proxy sites. They can bypass filters but your school might not be very happy about you using them, so use at your own risk. RSN: dbferrariLevel:

They can bypass filters but your school might not be very happy about you using them, so use at your own risk. Websense already blocks well known proxy services and websites (Ex: The ones you find through Google). That's one of it's major functions. Regardless, telling people how to bypass filters has never been allowed here.
