  3. I had Vista Ultimate from my MSDN subscription, I've formatted my pc now and gone back to xp, vista was eating at my ram and was very hardware incompatible especially with microsoft products!

  5. Have you scanned with Lavasoft Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy? Also make sure you have updated both programs, and try doing an immunize in spybot search & destroy.
  6. If you want Internet Security definately go for Kaspersky Internet Security. If you get it, under file options select scan installation packages that just makes it ownage. :D http://www.kaspersky.com
  7. Try using a proxy service, search through google and try all the links for proxy sites. They can bypass filters but your school might not be very happy about you using them, so use at your own risk.
  8. Do you put your laptop on your knees when using it? If it's not on a table it should be on a piece of wood so that the fans can blow the warm air out, if they can't it will overheat and the fans will go faster. Causing it after a long length of time to break.
  9. I like firefox most, my main reason is because i have not yet came across an unsafe extension for firefox, and most it's extensions are useful. I can't say the same about Internet Explorer because about 50% of it's extensions are malware.
  10. Yea, I basically feel like a dork now...Re-named it.... There. Sorry...You guys told me to do so much crap I just forgot, lol. I see some new crap on there that I don't remember putting there, so I'm sure you'll find bad stuff. I just wish I knew how to stop getting this crap on my computer. I have security all over the place and it just keeps comin'. Ok, open up Windows Explorer (Press the Windows Key, and Press E), then in the adress bar at the top type this: %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\, now locate the file names hosts, open it, when prompted to choose a program select notepad, copy the contents of the file (the text in notepad) into this conversation and i will tell you what to do then. Also, in the hijack this log, remove these entries If you didn't place these here then remove these entries "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\scan[Caution][Caution]" If you use software called "Washer" and know its safe, keep it, otherwise remove these. O4 - HKLM\..\RunServicesOnce: [washindex] C:\Program Files\Washer\washidx[Caution] "Owner" O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Washer] C:\Program Files\Washer\washer[Caution] /0 Remove these R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost O2 - BHO: (no name) - SOFTWARE - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {B3319D74-D897-46C2-A25F-6CCEA23EC7Ca} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\fiammpiy.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {3FD6B99C-A275-46ea-8FD1-3D63986E51E4} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\oplktbob.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {3DEE4ADA-01F5-4392-9AE0-B26B3025A21F} - C:\WINDOWS\Drivers\atskajva.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {46A4E9D9-B30E-452A-8157-DBBEC8573B03} - C:\Program Files\VSAdd-in\VSAdd-in.dll (file missing) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RealTray] C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay[Caution] SYSTEMBOOTHIDEPLAYER O20 - Winlogon Notify: winfon32 - winfon32.dll (file missing) O20 - Winlogon Notify: cfgmngr32 - C:\WINDOWS\g441304625.dll (file missing) O20 - Winlogon Notify: atskajva - C:\WINDOWS\Drivers\atskajva.dll Then post a HijackThis Log (again yes!), and as above was said, run VundoFix
  11. It could also be caused by corrupt system files (update gone wrong etc), press start, click run then type "cmd" then a window that should be black will appear, type "sfc /scannow" just not in quotes, and wait for it to scan your system files.
  12. Go to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\, then locate the file called hosts, right click it, open, and select notepad from the list (untick always use this program for this file type), If you see this.. # Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp. # # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host 127.0.0.1 localhost Then i can't think whats wrong, maybe try re-installing your browser, if you see anything else, copy and paste the contents here, and i, or another computer techie will tell you what to do (runescape might be being redirected without you knowing).
  13. Try using this tutorial i wrote to improve your computers performance, note: changing the visual effects like i suggest in the tutorial will change the appearance of your computer but boost the performance. http://www.codemonster.co.nr/YaBB.pl?num=1166959202/0#0
  14. On your keyboard, press Control+Shift+Escape, task manager will come up, click the processes tab and then click image name (to sort them by name), look for any processes named firefox, if you find any, click the process, and then click end process for each one found. Now try to uninstall firefox, if successful, go to http://www.firefox.com, and download the latest installer, install that and when it starts running it might start downloading updates. This time round, just let it update itself, and don't click cancel. Also one tip, never click cancel when something is updating, on windows updates it could trash the entire pc, on a program updating, it could trash the program.
  15. Also theres a function in hijack this that lets you delete a file upon reboot.
