maximu160490
Starting a little debate here. When will you upgrade to windows vista? have you tried the beta versions and is it worth the $100-250 dollars (approx) or the ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã100-̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã250 uk price? I will wait for the first service pack, or wait to find a good crack on the net after :-w
x76
I never used it besides in Best Buy and Staples. Honestly, It isn't too different from XP from what I saw. I'll never upgrade because I run Gentoo Linux and I prefer Linux over Windows as I'm a Perl programmer.
Olgath
Not for a long, long while, unless they install it on my work laptop. I use Ubuntu Linux on my home PC.
JoeDaStudd
Im going to either wait till its need by a game which I really really want or if I get a DX10 card. Otherwise I'll stick with Ubuntu and XP Pro. All those bugs and gaming issues need combing out before and gamer thinks about whiching though :wall: [hide=Drops]Dragon Axe x11Berserker Ring x9Warrior Ring x8SeercullDragon MedDragon Boots x4 - all less then 30 kcGodsword Shard (bandos)Granite Maul x 3Solo only - doesn't include barrows[/hide][hide=Stats][/hide]

FuriousElf
I got a new pc a few weeks ago and got Windows Vista along with the pc. If I compare Vista and Xp there isn't really a big difference, besides the look. I've been told Vista is more safer, so if your pc gets infected by a virus it doesn't have a change to spread out throhough your whole pc.. I'm sure the ones who create virusses will find something for this someday. Btw, I have the basic version, better versions will have some more features. Worth the money? I'd say no. michiel2
Just upgrade when buying a new pc. At least, I think that.
coltm4carbine
I've got Vista ultimate. I've also used the ultimate beta. Unless you really like Aero, I would say no, not worth it.
blade995
I upgraded to Vista Home Premium 2 weeks ago. I don't notice it any slower in program performance than XP. I have not noticed any glitches either. Yes there are some problems, but it's not Microsoft's fault. It's the driver makers fault, if they don't release drivers for Vista or release bugging drivers, obviously there's going to be slow downs and bugs. Lucky for me, all of my components have Vista drivers available, except for my printer, but the built in Vista driver worked perfect. Another thing which is really useful is that you can plug in a flash drive and it will use space on the drive for the page file and not the hard drive. The access times are almost non existent., unlike a normal hard drive. I did see some speed improvement when I did this. Only think about upgrading if you have MORE than 1gb of ram. Celt23
I'd like Vista alot but I think it requires 3 times the hard drive space I got now on my own computer.
WutangFlu
never, vista is terrible, i read an article and its consumes 3 times as much memory as XP ill go to the next Apple OS, or wait til the new MS OS comes out in 5 years or so.
dsavi
I haven't really used it that much, but I like it. Maybe because I'm a 'Alll Things Microsoft' kind of person, or because it completely rivals Mac's We-Actually-Have-A-Sense-Of-Graphical-Layout-and-Design idea. Anyway, if you get home basic, you get nothing with. Just look on the back of the box. BTW, I wasn't around when XP was released. Neither was forum.tip.it. What did people say about it? It would be interesting to compare what they said while coparing Windows 2k with XP with what we are saying now...

The Observer
Yea. The only problem with macs is that when something goes wrong, you can't go inside and fix it. The only thing you can do is turn it off and on... And I would recommend buying Windows Vista when all the bugs are out of it. I heard some horrer stories about how its too secure. It shuts down Windows itself because it thinks its a virus, it won't let you go on the internet, and once, it shut down somebody's game.
Cruiser
I heard some horrer stories about how its too secure. Sorry, that just made me laugh. Vista isn't 'too secure', it just annoys the hell out of people asking for the same password over and over. Most people will adopt the same click before reading mentality they have now or just shut UAC off entirely, making the whole system useless. They don't accept unsigned drivers. I don't like it when people think they have to choose for me. I know how to keep a PC secure and that thing was bugging the hell out of me. I'll probably be buggered when the latest uber worm comes out, but until then it can stay off. Vista is actually quite complete, nothing about the OS seems buggy. My only problem the now is incompatible IDE drivers which are causing a system wide slowdown on multitasking. Pain in the arse when you have 3 monitors and can't use them. :? Notoriously Trollish.

Will H
This is what happened in a computer store: Dad: Hi, we were hoping to look into Vista, how much is it? Guy: It's ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã95. Me: Is it any good? Guy: Uhh... Well... You see... -- Says it all. You see, he later explained how it was incompatible with the majority of decent firewalls, and several other programs. Seeing that really funny vid explaining how crap the voice recognition is, it seems that XP is a cut-the-crap version of Vista which in my opinion is actually better. I'm keeping with my trusty XP until it become compatible with more programs, and several bugs are fixed. ~ W ~
