March 2, 200719 yr i've been having my bass a while now (I love it ) and i found that there are more than just one tuning. i know the "standard" tuning is E,A,D,G, but in many songs i'd like to play i found that i have to tune my bass to "high to low-tune"; F#, C, G, C. How do i tune it that way? I have access to a electric bass/guitar tuner. anybody help?
March 2, 200719 yr Seems like a pretty weird tuning, the song example would help. La lune ne garde aucune rancune.
March 3, 200719 yr It sounds wierd to me. The octave number of those notes would help. Bass standard are these notes (from high to low) and thier octave numbers: G3 ------------------string 1--------------------- super funky D3 ------------------string 2--------------------- happy time A2 ------------------string 3---------------------- bass finger E2 ------------------ string 4--------------------- plucking zone Guitar pro always helps with this kind of stuff. I reccomend getting it.
March 3, 200719 yr I'm thinking he's trying to play qotsa, thats the only band i've seen with that tuning, i've seen alot of DADG tuning OT: Luring is sooo easy to avoid. That's what those nice signposts are for.

March 5, 200719 yr Bass is so much different than guitar as far as alternate tunings go ... really the only productive alternate tuning is tuning down. ANOTHER QUALITY POST BY JAKE. :funone: jake on last.fm
