Parental Control - Getting out of hand?

^Annoyed, but they'd probably stop talking, which is the point.
How would you like it if I was annoyed by you whenever you wanted attention, so I zapped you?

I wouldn't. That's the point. For dogs, it's not like it really hurts them; it's just a quick zap to tell them they're not supposed to go there or do something that they did wrong. Basic training.

This is kind of a stupid reason to go OT though :-s . I mean, it was a joke earlier in the thread, and my response was more or less a joke as well. No one's going to put some frikking zapper on their kids neck... it was a joke.

What they did wrong was talk.

Actually, looking back at the posts, they were simply talking about dogs, which is a completely legitamite argument. Dogs barking keep the whole neighborhood up at night, or could scare a kid, or just annoy people in general. Not only is this very different from humans' actions when speaking (generally...), but no human deserves to be put into a position of total submissiveness to another due to fear of pain. Dogs are taught to avoid pain, which is why they are given collars. The collars are never used if the dogs follow a few simple proper guidelines- (generally) they aren't just shocked at will, and if they are it's for a very blatant and right reason.

As Celt said, dogs and humans are not the same, and definitely do not share an equal relationship (spare emotionally, for anyone who wants to bite my head off for saying that). It is this master - pet relationship that makes this argument totally pointless, 'cause dogs ain't humans.

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

It's not talking, it's called barking. They do not communicate as you think they do - they communicate through physical (like tail wagging) and smelly ways. You are again comparing them to humans - that's just an invalid argument.

I understand internet/TV regulations. There are 5 year olds out there with acess to the internet, and they may find some...eh....adult material...that parents don't want them to know about until they are ready. But the "microchips in shoes and cars" thing is way out of hand. It's just messed up to do that to anyone. If my parents did that to me, I'd jack some money from them, throw out my shoes, blow up the car, and run to one of my friends places...after buying new shoes.
