lord krohn, where did you grow up?

miami and ocala florida, miami until 10yo or so, ocala until 17 then joined the military.

Hope they don't date someone you don't approve of just to piss you off.

yep,

hmm the world is crap, granted [cabbage] happens, and it didnt happen to you. How would you like it if I went and followed you round every second of your life? constantly judgeing you... freedom is the thing you dont seem to grasp. The best way to learn is from your OWN mistakes.

basically if your a good parent they wont end up doing what you described will happen. trust is a very strange thing, the worst feeling in the world is knowing you broke someones trust and it really hurt them.

im 16 and my parents arent strict, im writing to you now at 1 am, my mum will prbably be down in a min, telling me to go to bed but my parents allow me to make my own mistakes and i learn from them, granted i go to parties and get a lil drunk sometimes but not completley drunk, i know the limits and because my parents are relativley leneant with alchol i dont go crazy when i see some, im responsable enough to know when ive had enough because ive not had my parents telling me its the drink of the devil and what not so i can decide, granted if i came home 1 day with a tatoo they would go ape [cabbage] because i abused their trust and i know they would never trust me again, but if you get what i mean thats the right balance. trust someone and they usually make the right choice, afterall we only live once.. who wants to be caged and have mummy hold your hand the rest of the way through life.

and another thought, how are they going to react when theyre 18 and you can't controll them?

Oh, the way you described it made you sound like you were an attractive white family living in Harlem

some of you guys have to grow up. lordkrohn1626 seems to be the only adult point of view in this post, and i have to admit, i was going along with the OP until i realized lordkrohn1626 was right in everything he said

you guys make it seem like a crime to care about children. Dont give the can't-grow-up-on-their-own bullcrap, the kids that need the surveillence usually deserve it. no one actually ends up not being able to decide on their own

I could claim to be an adult with kids in order to make my views sound more credible

So let's say we put sensors in your shoes, your car, on your computer, and your cell phone so you parents know everything you do. Would you like all of this monitoring equipment then?

Hell, we might as well strap a camera to the child's head.

Kid's will always be against more monitoring, but once you grow up you'll realize it's kinda' necessary. You kids are naughty little brats these days and need some discipline, so if your parents want to find out that you were down at the river smoking pot again, they should be able to know this and beat your [wagon] so you stop acting like a moron.

Just my 2 cents.

Most of the stuff being invented is being put in place for kidnapping deturrents, anyways. Which noone could say is a bad idea. But I'm also all for the "8-15 shock collar", because that age group kinda' needs it. I know I wasn't as bratty as kids today are when I was 8-15, and I'm only 20 as it is. My neighbor's kid is like 10 and told me to "Go f*ck myself" because I told them they should watch where the walk because it was icey and they might slip and fall. WOW. Sorry boss, better go drop my pants and get to work. My mistake!

Im sure we have all heard or seen about internet/t.v./video game parental controls, and sometimes that understandable. Im sure some of us have also heard about the micro chips put in cars to track kids. But when i was just watching the news, something blew my mind. Tracking devices on the bottom of shoes. Like seriously, what the [bleep]? When can we end all this. Think how these kids are going to grow up after being tracked, traced, held back and followed their entire lifes for any wrong doings.

And if your kid can drive, meaning they are atleast 16 years of age, do you really need to have a tracking device put in the car?

I think it's great...and you know why? same reason we should care less if the government is tracking our internet usage, phone calls etc....if you aren't doing anything wrong.....why would you care?

If my 13 yo daughter tells me she is going to the movies, and i log on to a site that tracks her shoes...and she is across town on the interstate.....knowing she had possibly been kidnapped/abducted by some sicko would be kinda helpful don't you think? watch the news much? seems like every night some piece of crap is snatching up some young teenager and running off with them...and it isn't to take them to the movies either.

..or how about your son decides he has met the love of his life via the internet  and jumps on a bus to go to kansas to meet up with "erica", who of course turns out to be 52 yo "eric"....being able to track him and turn that information over to the police could be nice don't you think?

...or your daughter is 15 yo or so and says she is staying over night at a friend's house, but in reality that friend's parents are gone for the night and your daughter and her friend are going across town to a college party at some guys house they heard about....sounds innocent enough right? I won't even bother to spell out what happens at these things....drugs, [bleep]ed drinks, forcible procreation...etc....checking up on her might save her having to go through that...and this EXACT situation was a call i went on as a reserve police officer, it was a noise complaint, we roll up in 2 cars with 4 officers and there was at least 200 ppl in this house, in the front and back yard...they scattered like bugs in the light when i loudly proclaimed "let's check their IDs and if they are underage, arrest them"..then we searched the house in an effort to find the owner so he could be cited and secure his/her house which had every single door wide open...we found 7 teenage girls hiding in various spots...oldest? 16 yo. Think about that for a sec. When we got ahold of the parents to come pick up their daughters, 6 were very concerned and had been told the standard lies...and were horrifed when we showed them the 6 kegs, over 40 large empty bottles of hard liquor, 4 bags with different amounts of pot, pills everywhere, several boxes of condoms, a [Forbidden] video was playing on the large screen tv in the living room...quite a party...but not what the parents wanted their 13yo-16yo daughters at with 18-25 yo guys. The one other parent was a piece of crap, and actually threw us an attitude about why we were detaining her daughter (we arrested the daughter for refusing to identify herself...a misdemeanor crime in most states, and a mandatory arrest) she finally said who she was but that was after she was in custody. The parent didn't care and it was obvious her daughter was the product of that....sad really.

In closing...if you have nothing to hide, why would you care that your parents had the capability to "track" you? Now as far as 16 yo and having a license, privacy blah blah blah....i was 16yo with a license once, I know how my friends and I drove...I know the dumb things you do to impress one another......my son is 15 yo, when he turns 16, and wants to drive the car to the "mall", you can bet I would love to know if he was doing over 100 mph sometime during the trip...i could correct that behavior before he gets killed, or kills a family of five.

Ok I understand What your saying but I am 17 and I do drink but not with 200 people at a house party I just drink witth 4-6 friends in the woods most teenagers do that and thats why we don't want to have our parents know where we are I know alot of teenagers make stupid choice's but alot of us drink responsibly ( even though its illegal ) We never drive drunk We know our limit and we don't drink every single weekend...

Ok from what I know this is true for 85% the teenagers I know

The only reason they work and go to shcool is 1 gain there parents trust and 2 spend money on alchhol/drugs, gas and food.

I can guranteei f any of my friends had tracking device's in there shoes The would get new shoe's and if they put a tracking device in the car they would find away to take it out... I Am sorry if I offended any one this is my opinion on things

Yea, parents need to get off their [wagon] too, but it'll at least take the "guess work" out of parenting. :P

And yea, I'd like a shock collar for those kids across the street. I'd hit it just for fun to keep them on their toes. Little bastards.

Thing is, if you impose severe restrictions on your kids they will grow to resent it, may even get rebellious due to your "oppression" of them, and end up even more likely to get in trouble. Just teach them common sense and make sure they know what's what and what not to do, and then let them free. Oh, and train them in some form of martial art - with a name that sounds like an Asian food with orange chicken and crunchy veggies - so they can protect themselves.

Just my view.

I got a remote control dog zapper and it's turned my dog into a right little angel. If I hear him barking and jumping around out there it's just *push button* "YIPE!!" and then silence.

They would probably work wonders on children.

Make sure the martial arts isn't full of bs. Like if you can get a black belt too quickly for that type of martial arts. Given the chance, ALWAYS RUN!

No mercy, kill them fast, and a bunch of other ones(don't recommend these but...).

Oh and learn something that teaches you how to use an opponents power against them. No point in spending years learning martial arts if you can't take down someone bigger and more powerful than you(not skillful).

(Btw, what do you think about the martial art wood chopping, is it really that hard or as great as it seems?)

If you track your kid, you are telling them "I don't trust you enough to let you make your own decisions".

Kids will make mistakes, but hey, if you don't let them lead their life, they will hate you for it.

Your job as a parent is to make that child grow and lead them in the right direction, not to live their life for them.

I think just going out makes them frightened lol

For example, my parents won't let me go to a thrash metal concert. Why?

Because when water forms into crystals, they are incomplete crystals when listening to rock music.

I wouldn't. That's the point. For dogs, it's not like it really hurts them; it's just a quick zap to tell them they're not supposed to go there or do something that they did wrong. Basic training.

This is kind of a stupid reason to go OT though :-s . I mean, it was a joke earlier in the thread, and my response was more or less a joke as well. No one's going to put some frikking zapper on their kids neck... it was a joke.
