Wehrmacht
Welcome to my melee training guide. This guide will guide you along as you train your character and also teaches you on how to find a good training spot. I hope that my guide will be able to help you! And enjoy reading it! The Fundamentals of effective melee training This section will guide you on your choice of training spot. It help you decide the training spot that will be the most effective for you, that is, earning the most exp you can get. There are a few factors affecting the effectiveness of your training The factors are: [hide=The level of the monster you are training on]The level of the monster you are training on is very important. If you train on a high level monster, you will be earning less exp as you will tend to miss or get hit too often. If you train on too low a level a monster, you will not be able to earn the most exp you should be earning. A rough guide on the lowest level monster you should be fighting is this. The monster should be at least half of your level. Which means that if you are a combat level 50 guy, the lowest level monster you should be fighitng is one that is level 25.[/hide] [hide=The amount of monsters in the training spot]Too little monsters, will result in you waiting for the monsters to spawn, and thereby reducing the effectiveness of your melee training. You should find a spot that has more than enough monsters for you to train on so you do not have to wait for the monsters to spawn. This ensures that you earned the most exp you should be earning :D[/hide] [hide=The amount of players training at the same spot as you]A spot that is too crowded will result in you competing for the monsters there and also the monsters there will get wiped out faster and then you will have to wait for them to spawn. You should choose a spot that is not crowded that will ensure you a constant supply of good exp.[/hide] [hide=Accessibility]Is the training spot near a bank? Although this is not as impt as the rest but you still need to watch out for this as you do not want to train at a spot too far from the bank so that you will be able to restock your supplies whenever you need to.[/hide] [hide=Armoury]Well, wielding the best armour and weopans will ensure you earn the most exp you can possibly earn. So wear full mith if your def lvl is 20,full addy if your def lvl is 30, so on and so forth Weopans? for weopans, i suggest the use of scimmy. i tried both scimmy ,baxe, and rune long swords and scimmy gives you the most exp her hour as compared to the other 2 weopans! Example of the best melee armour you can wear in F2P: You should try to get a set of full rune along with a rune scimmy ASAP along with a power or strength amulet. I prefer strength amulet though, i prefer to hit harder.[/hide] [hide=Combat styles]Actually i dun really want to add this section to my guide cause it is really common sense, but since a few ppl have asked me to put tis up so here it is. To achieve maximum effectiveness, you should train and keep all your combat stats around the same level. So you should use the attack style to train the stat you want to. If for example you have too low a def lvl but high att and str lvls, you cannot last at your training spot cause you will get hit very often. So train all stats equally before going on to the next area to train. For your info, low level players, from levels 3 to 50 should concentrate more on att and def first as you should get better armours ASAP plus this is the part of your runescape life where you are most vulnerable to death, so it is good to have a high def and att lvl which will reduce the chance of you dying.[/hide] [hide=A Summary Of The Stronghold Of security]This dungeon meets all the factors stated above(read more abt the factors above^) and it is also the best training spot for All F2P of all levels. The dungeon is found in the middle of Barbarian village, jus south of edgeville. This is the location: [/hide] This Next Section Is All About Training! [hide=Melee training from levels 3 to 10+]Fresh out of tutorial island and want some action? Well The only place you can fight and win and not lose health is.....Chicken farm! lol. This is about the only place you can train without losing much hp. It is located jus north of lumby castle, but you must first cross the bridge.Just walk out of the castle and the bridge will be infront of you. look at the arrow on the picture. No food is needed, you will recover the hp you lose faster than you lose it even with only 1 def. Once you have reached the bridge, cross it and walk north till you see the farm. This is a good area as not only do you lose hp, you get feathers too which worth quite a lot ot a freshman, which can get you some basic armour like iron or steel. Train at this area from lvl 3 to 10-15.[/hide] [hide=Melee training from 10-25+]Done with chickens and want to kick some harder-to-kick butts? Then come on down to the Stronghold of security! It is located in Barbarian village. Once you are there go down the hole in the middle of the village, and you will appear at this place: Once you are there walk straight up, look at photo^. And just simply go pass those 2 doors and TA-DA! The goblins! Train there till you reach a lvl of 25-30 and wear the best armour you can.[/hide] [hide=Melee training from 25-40+]Once you have reached a combat level of 25-30, you can now proceed on to kill minotaurs. These beast are just above you, They are east on your compass if you are at the goblin training spot. Go pass the double doors and you will find numerous level 10 minotaurs awaiting you. Tis place is usually crowded, but as you can see from my pic, it can be quite empty too, just go some world hoping till you find the perfect world, it wont take long. Train at this spot from lvl 25 to 40 plus or 50 if you wish to, as it is a very good training spot, and wear the best armour you can. Food recommened is trouts.[/hide] [hide=Melee training from 40-60]This next training spot is also found at the first level of the Stronghold. These monsters are minotaurs, just that these ones are slighty stronger, which levels are 12 and 27. The Fastest way to get there is to take the portal on the first level. Once you have taken it, just follow the map shown below: Just simply go to the place which is circled in red :D and you can start training. Food recommended is: trouts[/hide] [hide=Melee training from 60-80]Ah..At last you have been promoted! You can now proceed on to level 2 of the Stronghold where you will face stronger monsters. To get there simply go back to the entrance of the dungeon where you will see a portal. Enter The portal and you will appear here: Walk to the ladder that is going down, and simply go down the ladder. And there..you have reached the 2nd lvl of the stronghold. Once there, You will see 2 doors infront of you, just simply go through it and you have reached the lvl 30 zombies training spot! Train here till you are lvl 80-85. And to be able to last here for a quite a period b4 going back to the bank to restock on your food, i recommend a defence level of at least 50, to be safer have a defence level of 55. Food recommend is trouts, bring abt 3/4 a inventory, depending on how long you want to stay.[/hide] [hide=Melee training from 80-95+]The next training spot would still be at level 2 of the stronghold, but this is where you will earn better exp! :D This training spot is filled lvl 44 zombies and lvl 41 flesh crawlers, making a very good spot for training, one of the best i would say. To get there simply go to the portal which is at the entrance of the level 2 part of the Stronghold.Once you enter the portal you will appear here: Walk south of your compass, as shown in the picture, and you will see 2 doorsm go through them both and turn right. You have reached it! And start fighting! :D These guys auto att you, so is a good spot for AFK training but the thing is, when they stop attacking you, how do you get them to auto att you again? Okay the trick is to run all the way north to the next set of double doors, wait there for 5 secs then run back, they will start auto attacking you again! yay! To Train here effectively, i advice you to have a minimum of 60 defence.Or you will need quite a bit of food, but trouts and salmons will do thou.[/hide] [hide=Melee training From 95-113( 113 lvl is assuming your prayer lvl is 1)]This place would most likely be your final stop of your melee training life in runescape. In order to reach here, all you have to do is to go down the ladder at the 2nd level of the dungeon and you will appear here. Just walk through the 2 doors north of your position. And you will have reached it It is the best place to train to the max level of 113(assuming your prayer lvl is 1). It has loads of lvl 50 spiders and from what i calculated, You earn more exp here than at the flesh crawlers at lvl 2 of the stronghold(Only if u have the recommended stats).Making it a very good training spot for high lvl F2P players. To train here effectively, i recommend a minimum of 70 defence, but the best would still be 75-80 defence for the best results:D Since the spiders have quite a good defence, i recommend an att level of 80 to 85. Food recommended: is Salmons, lobsters if you plan to stay for a long long while.[/hide] [hide=Training to 126!]Well as you guys know, even with 99 att str def and hp. You cannot reach the max combat level of 126. I will suggest a few ways you can reach 99 prayer, although this is not a prayer guide.. The fastest way(assuming your prayer level is 1): Buy 868963 big bones, bury them all, you will jump from a prayer lvl of 1 to 99 :D But of course that will simply cost too much( 340mill..) So this is the best way in my perpespective: Go to the chicken farm in Lumbridge, kill the chickens there and bury the bones. You guys might say, why not moss giants or hill giants? Okay here is the answer, abt 3 bones equal 1 big bones. Do u kill 3 chickens faster or 1 giant faster? Obviously is 3 chickens right? And even if it is not, there is always competition for giants, so you will have to wait for the giants to spawn. But it is still up to you at the end :D And all the best![/hide] [hide=Final word]This guide is meant to help those who needs help in combat training. And i hope it did help you :D Also, my guide is not perfect and if you think you have better ideas on the training spots or tips on effective training. Feel free to pm me. And since my guide is mostly training in the Stronghold, and if you do not enjoy training there and want to find a new training spot, i suggest you use my tips on the factors affecting effective training to find yourself a new spot. :D All the best to all you runescapers out there![/hide] [hide=Credits]Me= For doing practically everything swordb88=For teaching me how to use the forums better, or else my guide would have been a complete mess. Stronghold of security=Without it, i could have never make my guide Tip it=Took 2 pictures from there haha[/hide]

luluu247
good gide, 8.5/10 =D> but shouldn't you also suggest that while fighting flesh crawlers, u should stick on auto retaliate because they always r aggresive? i do that and i don't have to click once \

Lets_3ekout
You say you train at the last location to 126 combat, yet you forget for 126 combat you must have extremely high prayer (I forget exact ammount, 98?). Last I checked, spiders don't drop bones and even if they did, normal bones to 98 prayer? Ouch. You could provide some alternatives, I'm sure SoS isn't the only training area in F2P. Not bad guide, just needs some refining and corrections. OmidSan
Great guide and i have found a way to get a more prayer exp then you said in your guide and it is FREE. There's only one risk though. Revernants or whatever they're called. if you go right by the greater demons in like 46 or somethin wild. To the east there's like a lot of big bones to bury. Or you could go to boneyard where there are so many big bone and bone spawns that You'll be burying all the time and won't have to wait for respawns. other than that. Nice guide. I'll start pkin at stronghold of security rather than like lessers. =]

Wehrmacht
good guide. there is one suggestion i can make though, which is explaining which attack style to use and when to use it. hey, good suggestion there, but is kinda common sense, as in you use diff attack styles depending on which stat you want to train, so is up to the ppl who are training. But anyway, thx for the suggestion :D appreciate it.
avrilavigne
very nice guide, i rate it 9/10. explains everything i need to know, and the big difference from tis guide compared to other combat training guides is that it teaches you how to train effectively, i like that a lot, keep up the good work. Hasaple2
8/10, as you should have a way to make money using melee so we can afford armor. I am currently following your guide and i have no clue how i will afford addy armor. Don't ask me for what I do for fun.Anyways, what I do for fun (besides RS) is to tear up assignments I get and then try to re-create them. It's so much fun =D.(I also like differrent things.(and purple ))
Zaaps1
Great guide. Just a note, for the level 70-96 people, another great place to train are the level 48(?) zombies. They are far better than the 30 ones and are agressive. Another good place is the room on the north-western most corner, the fleshcrawler and zombie mix. Level 43 fleshes and 53 zombies. These are agressive until 106, in which case only the flesh crawlers are agressive. Although you'd probably want to go to giant spiders at 100. ~It's Super Effective! I am currently following your guide and i have no clue how i will afford addy armor. Okay, you can check out my money making guide which is also in the tip it forums under archive of wisdom, considering that addy armour is cheap, tis shld be a good method of making money. Go to the skeleton mines in the wild, north west of edgeville, spent around 1 and a half hrs mining there, you have enuf coal to sell for addy armour. I hope you update it when Summoning is released to "3 to 138" lol ;) yeah, that will be really cool man, but we will have to see first as summoning will most likely be a members skill and tis is a f2p guide, so we will see. truffoo
good guide. there is one suggestion i can make though, which is explaining which attack style to use and when to use it. hey, good suggestion there, but is kinda common sense, as in you use diff attack styles depending on which stat you want to train, so is up to the ppl who are training. But anyway, thx for the suggestion :D appreciate it. If only common sense was common. Nice guide ... but I think suggestions around combat style would be useful, although your defense level suggestions are probably more useful to most. My suggestion is to keep attack and strength relatively close together, then bring up defense to an appropriate level before moving onto the next tougher monster. Although my stats don't currently show it ... I rate attack over strength. Better to hit lower more regularly than higher with more misses. Defense gives you staying power which would hugely speed up your training. On the whole, it is common sense, but sometimes people don't think when you expect them to  WARNING: Prone to ramble ... but you probably already know that!1% F2P : 99% RL
