Orpheus
You'll need to burn an .iso file on the disks, as that's the filetype they use. Use Nero for it, if you can get a hold of it. I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal. OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.
Howlin0001
ok but how do i do that if what i said above happens when I put the disk into the drive without doing anything to it myself?
Orpheus
ok but how do i do that if what i said above happens when I put the disk into the drive without doing anything to it myself? Let me think... you need a burning program, then it'll take you through the steps of burning files onto the disc. If you have it in .iso format, you could use Nero to burn it. Otherwise, you can use ImgBurn, which does everything, from creating .iso's out of files on your comp, or creating an image of everything on the disc. It'll even burn files and folders onto it. Howlin0001
Ok but all I want to do is copy the videos from the video cam to the disk and I have a programme to do that but since the compute is saying there is no space on the disks I can't. EDIT: Should I mention that it was working grand with the Philip type disks a few days ago.
OldJoe
You couldn't try connecting the drive to another sata port on your motherboard or try it on another computer? A wha wha whatide what? (I'm have no idea with comps really.) THere are usually 2 or 3 sata ports on your computer's motherboard. 1 is for the hard drive and the others are for DVD/CD drives. What he is suggesting is to switch the cables and plug into other ports. You could also try new cables. Are you using dvd-r or -rw? sloter
You could try updating the firmware on the drive its self. Also updating the driver windows uses for it.
thrash-boy
i would first try and update the firmware of your drive. if that doesnt work i would switch dvds. note that the brand of the DVD means nothing. all dvds are made in a few factory's across the world in japan/Singapore/china etc. they are then put in separate packaging and sold under many different brands. the quality of the disc is all about who made it, and how good they make them. for example, CMC Magnetics produces discs that are sold by HP, Imation, Memorex, Philips, TDK, Verbatim, Staples, Office Depot and more brands. CMC media is one of the worst quality you can get, and should be avoided like cancer. I did have a page that had a list of a ton of brands of disc and who manufactures them, but i cant find it.
