That option was removed by ipb when we upgraded. I remember a tech admin saying the default for displaying could potentially be increased if the default was too low, but I don't know for certain.

Yes we can change the limit but it would change for everyone.

 

The reason it was done is for search engine links and for making it easier to find posts. When everyone has the same amount of posts on a page, it means page 3 for you of a topic is exactly the same as page 3 for user X. Before, this wasn't the case as it could vary a lot depending on how many posts per page you were using.

Why is that a problem?

 

Because if you search for something in Google and it shows you a page of TIF, you click that link and have a TIF account and a different number of posts per page, then the post you want probably won't even be there, even though you clicked through looking for it.
