WRITE FOR THE TIMES - SUBMIT A GUEST ARTICLE:

Remember, YOU can write an article for the Tip.It Times! You can apply to write full time, or just submit a "one-off" guest article any time you want! Our editors will work with you to ensure that your article is ready for publication. All guest articles can be submitted to @tripsis or any other Editorial Panel member. For more information, including details on how to apply full time, read this forum thread: http://forum.tip.it/topic/209138-how-to-write-for-the-tipit-times/

I'd like to remind people of the rules pertaining to Times threads:

[hide=Read these rules before posting in this thread]

Rampant flame wars have taken control of virtually every week's times discussion topics. The following guidelines must be followed when posting on this topic. Posts that ignore these guidelines will be removed.

1. You are invited and welcome to express like or dislike on articles and a particular author's writing style. It is not acceptable, however, to flame or personally insult an author. Posts that aren't anything but an attack will be removed from the topic.

2. Spelling and grammar errors can be reported to tripsis by PMing her and they will be fixed promptly. It is not necessary to post them on the discussion topic.

3. Off topic posts that do not discuss the content of that week's articles will be removed. This is not the place to discuss the direction of the times, how much you love or hate the times, etc. Off topic posts will be removed.

By keeping within these guidelines, Times discussion topics will mean more for the Panel and Administration than just a place for flame wars. Flame wars do not provide any useful feedback to the Times, which is mainly what we're aiming for with these topics: feedback.

This policy is effective as of now, November 17, 2010. Any posts prior to the creation of this policy may or may not be removed according to the new guidelines.

[/hide]

[hide=Submitting Crossword Puzzles]If you want to submit your own crossword puzzle, it's quite simple.

Simply provide a word list (about 10-20 words) with their corresponding clues. Then, message @The Floating Pen with the word list and it will eventually be published in the Tip.it Times![/hide]

When replying please make sure to clarify the article you are replying to! Thanks!

If you spot any typos or mistakes in an article then please PM them to @tripsis. :)

Enjoy the articles!

Is anyone able to confirm whether the new J-mods have run of the mill j-mod accounts? I had thought it was just a graphical thing where they got a gold crown, and maybe just p-mod powers, on their own personal accounts. i.e. no banstick, no rotten potato. (Odd sentence...)

Regarding crossword:

Where clan you find the the only interactive chairs in F2P?

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

The only thing I found misleading is the SOF question...

I think the

[spoiler=Part of Crossword Answer]'XP'

Should be removed....

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be?~ Marianne Williamson

I could be wrong, but I would imagine that they get normal J-Mod accounts. Since their roles are similar to those of CM J-Mods, and CM J-Mods have "Run of the mill" J-Mod accounts, I would guess that they would have regular J-Mod accounts as well.

We'll wait and see!

CM Mods also work on-site and can't log into their jmod accounts outside of the office IIRC. This was changed back when another jmod was hacked.

If they did have a typical jmod account, they wouldn't be able to log into their RS accounts because they do work off-site. Since they're running the social media aspects of RS and that would undoubtedly involve them being online, it stands to reason that they don't have typical jmod accounts...which kinda renders the whole article's premise sort of null and void.

I see what you're saying, but SilentC0re (Mod Silent) is going to be working from the Jagex Headquarters. Do you think he would have a regular J-Mod account and the others would just have a crown? Or would they all have restricted moderator accounts?

What I'm saying is that we probably won't know unless one of them tells us :)

That is what I was thinking. Since they don't really need to interact with the games core any more than they have done in their previous years of video making. Really they're being recruited for the things they've done without any j-mod tools.

Does it matter if C0re has a regular account and the others do not? If he's working onsite he's likely under the same restrictions that the rest of the staff there are. If he's not under the same restrictions, it's most likely due to the fact that he is restricted as the others would be. Of course we won't know unless they explicitly tell us, but we can make reasonable conclusions based on what we've already seen.

What's the point of highlighting possible negligence or a leading question of power abuse when these are already concerns we must face with any other jmod? What's the point of even venturing down this path of discussion if not to insinuate that they're incapable of performing their duties as well as any other joe schmoe that Jagex hires in their very-high-turnover CM department?

Saying that things could go wrong is like saying it could rain in the summertime. Of course things could go wrong, but how is this any different than any other time? The only aspect of it that's different than what takes place every day - working from home - already exists. The article references Mod Mat K's oldschool streaming from home.

[spoiler=some clarification]xp is actually part of that item's name, go look it up

that being said, since all of the generic lamps were converted to prismatic naming conventions (perhaps after the creation of this puzzle) one might still get confused
