What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
In the process of downloading Dragon Age Origins. The second one looks like it has been Mass Effected (and I already own Mass Effect thanks), and this is the sort of game where I find the phrase "simplified combat system" to be legitimately terrifying. I've seen the first games combat system in action, and it's already perfectly suited to my tastes. Anyway, the first game, Origins, looks like a blast, so try it I will.

Today...
Went Kayaking today with my cousins. Good fun. Sunscreen did it's job and stopped me from getting more burnt, though it doesn't entirely relieve the sensation of sun on burned skin. The burns are healing at a good pace too, possibly because I spent last evening trying to see how much aloe vera my skin can absorb, and I plan on repeating that. What I really want is a vat of the stuff, slightly warmed, like the Bacta Tank from star wars. On the upside, I've gained a considerable tan boost that should last for a while. Not really the idea way to get one, but I'll take what I can get. Also, you people might just be a little crazy, and there are people who don't know what a cassette is because their parents are young enough that they never had them in the house, though I wouldn't expect their spawn to have really entered the workforce yet. I'm waiting for the day when people wonder where the phrase 'hand up the phone' comes from, once wall phones have ceased to be a thing for a while.

Today...
Went up to my cousins for the day to take part in their yard sale, and also an opportunity for my parents to stash the stuff they didn't sell in my uncle's attic (wont need to pack the trailer next year, maybe). For me, that means a chance to see my closest cousins (that is, the only cousins close to me in age, being 2 and 4 years younger), which given the lack of seeing them back at easter, was quite awesome. For bonus points, they are visiting another aunt tomorrow, so I will see them again, and again later on this week when we go have some fun on some zip lines, which all in all, means I'll probably see more of them in under a week than I normally see of them in a couple years. I'm actually pretty excited about it, because I've come to realize the last couple times that I have seen them that I don't really know them. I normally only see them for a few hours in a semi-formal setting, and while we get along and we talk, it's been a long time since I've had a day or two with them (actually, it's been a little over 9 years, counting back to the time when I spent a week staying in their house, though I only ever saw them on evenings).

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
Wow, that's super expensive. The most expensive I have ever seen in Canada is I think Mech Assault for $72 for the xbox. Or so my memory tells me. Games have gotten cheaper than that though, now release price tops out at $60. I'm still not even sure that GTA 5 will exist on PC, or if I want (assuming they do port it). Aside from the affront to the porting gods that is GTA 4, the whole group of 3 people that you can switch between has me really turned off from the game. The only thing worse than playing a GTA game as anything but the driver, is being part of a group. That and from what I can remember, I am going to have the same problem as in Lost and the Damned where I can't relate to one of the characters. I can't relate to the biker culture, and the authority issues, and the society is out to get me thing. I'm also going to say that I don't like using motorcycles in general in the game, because I drive like a lunatic, and thus get hurt. I'm also not a fan of hogs in any sense; I very much prefer the wrist rockets in every way. I am withholding final judgement though, even if I don't sound like it. I'm definitely skeptical, and I'm definitely going to investigate this one before I consider spending money on it, but I am also optimistic that it's not the disaster (to me) that has formed in my head (the last time I read about it was awhile ago too, so I might have old information). I really hope I don't hate any of the characters though. I can't get through another GTA game with a charecter I don't like (actually, I still haven't beaten lost and the damned. I've done 4 two or three times, Gay Tony two times, and Damned is just over half).

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
Suddenly I am eternally grateful for the System my University has, which is where all the assignments get posted, all announcements are made, all the marks go, and so on. Not that I wasn't already happy that we have a centralized system, since I get to interact with the Computer Science program, who has their own systems (this being my major), and it is a royal pain for me when they use them. Just because you are the computer department doesn't mean you have to be special flowers and make everyones life more complicated. I'm a pretty big fan of people who walk from out of nowhere into the road, even crosswalks, without looking at all, even using their ears to listen, and don't bother turning on the flashing lights. I assume it's people who have never driven and have no concept that they might be difficult to see, or how long it takes a car to stop. I'm starting to get a real hatred of driving in the city back again, and it's because of stuff like this. Also, the fact that maybe one in 10 intersections here has marked lanes in the city (as in, arrows designating direction), so everyone has fun with that guessing game.

What are you watching?
I got my parents into Babylon 5, so mostly that  Actually having a bit of fun with it, since I haven't seen the first two seasons in a long time. Of course, waiting my favourite episode of season 3 is also killing me (Severed Dreams).

What are you listening to right now!?
Something to start with: This one has always sounded really fun (to play) to me, and having actually had the opourtunity to play this one myself (well, my part of it), I can confirm that is is even more fun than it sounds. http://youtu.be/eoD2y7U0kdo Lastly, I'm going to admit, I am not an Elvis fan. That said, I have always thought that this is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard, along with songs like Let it Be (which is quite possibly my favourite song to sing).

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
If you're me, then yes. My biggest problem with previous 3D titles are the AI traffic limitations. Their set path doesn't allow them to pull around you if you pull over to the side of the road, and they don't obey physics, ignoring things like a vehicles maximum speed or handling characteristics in turns, and sometimes it's really obvious that traffic is cheating. In this respect, GTA 4 is much more immersive than previous titles. I do however miss the planes, being able to tow trailers with big rigs (this has only ever been in 2 and SA from the games I have played, which is all the PC ones from 2 onwards). Things like that. Also, I prefer the SA map, it has more than just a city, which can get sort of boring. I also find the story a bit more flushed out, and the wiring to be a step up. Not that I have anything against the previous titles here, I am easy to please. All that said, I still like to goof off in SA, partly because it actually has the police off cheat, which means I can role play (I have a mod for that in GTA 4 which allows me to actually arrest people and stuff when I am being the police). Also all the planes, and varied terrain. VC is fun too, I love the easter eggs. I do not love GTA 3 though...it can be quite annoying I find. 3 more than any other has hostility issues. If you beat the game, most areas of the map are extremely hostile. VC toned it down a lot, and SA toned it down further. 4 has no gangs though, so no area of the map ever becomes hostile to you, which I love.

Things That Make You Smile :)
I like a thunderstorm every now and then. Temperate climates don't get many of them, and they tend to be pretty weak (and extremely rare. We might get four in a year). I suppose this sort of fits into my liking the heavy rain storms (on the caveat that I do not like more than a day without sun, so they have to come and do their thing, then move on).

Things That Make You Smile :)
I think I prefer the bed myself. On the same line though, memory foam. Stuff is fantastic. Also, the sound of rain on the roof. I think the best I've ever had was out camping, and it rained hard enough that I decided that rather than go for the tent, I'd just fold down the back seats in my SUV and sleep there. One of the most relaxing nights of my life. Also, perfectly dry

I had that problem before, expect it was a neighbor, and she complained to the police. That got settled in court. I won. Racism ultimately solved that problem (when she phoned the police on someone else who happened to not be white, and he went to apologize in person. By some coincidence, the for sale sign was up the next day). As an aside, there is an account problem link at the top of the forums, for things like being unable to post.

No, I don't have the grid view. If I ever did, I didn't notice. I've had whatever for a while now. I'm talking about the list on the left side with little grey numbers by peoples names if they have something new. Sometimes I click on subscriptions to I can see what's new without visiting channels, but normally I just channel jump.

What is your "go to" alcoholic drink?
Vodka would be my mainstay, usually mixed with Cranberry, sometimes Orange Juice, and a couple times in Lemonade (Orange Juice has the most ability to disguise the flavor, Cranberry is better for pacing. Lemonade just means I didn't think ahead and had to run to the corner store). I'm also partial to the Blue Hawaiian cocktail (essentially a blue pina colada). Other than that, mostly wine.

I still have the subscriptions box. I don't need to see what they posted, I just need to know who has something new. I ignore the what to watch, since for me it often ignores recent content in favor of something someone posted a few years ago (more importantly, I normally watch playlists, and what to watch next doesn't do that for me). It works though, I have a routine.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
If the friendzone is a thing, it's not something you can put yourself in. It's the name given to some peoples inability to accept that a given person having feelings for them is not always something that is, ever has been, and might never be, a possibility. You aren't Orlando Bloom, don't flatter yourself. Maybe she just wants a friend, maybe something more (unless she has clearly signaled one way or the other). Whatever the case, from your very brief description, I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say that actively not talking to her is probably going to be taken as snubbing her, which is not a fantastic way to make any kind of friend. Life has given you a present. Enjoy it

Today...
Weird experience in traffic today. Making a right turn at a set of lights, there is an old lady crossing from the other side. Not anticipating the movement speed of the 90+, I sit and wait for the 30 seconds it takes them to cross the street (and honestly, I don't really begrudge the time, wasn't in a huge rush). Then, as she exits the street and I start to go for the gas, she turns and walks right in front of me (that is, through the side of the intersection with a green light, where she wont be visible until she gets past my SUV, the second lane in). I don't know if she was blind, or out to lunch or what. I know that my brain got completely tied up just understanding exactly what was happening (and double checking that I was awake) that I didn't really do anything but watch, until that part of the brain that handles driving decided the way was clear and started a right turn. At this moment a lady whose brain wasn't pulling a complete blank started to run for the old lady, deciding that the best route was right in front of me, so that was cool. At that point my brain made the call that this intersection was a crazy zone and I drove away. I'm not sure what happened after that, other than apparently no one got run over, so that's good. I suppose if this ever happens again, there is now a mental note to roll down the window and say something. Fun times.

Today...
I said laptop, not 1970's muscle car. :P Although, if it literally melted down they'd definitely have to get me a new one. Heh, that's what I was thinking. That's how you start my dads backhoe. I assume Eagle Scout is comparable to Chief Scout in Canada? Congrats on that, an accomplishment to be sure. Thats about where I stopped. I did a year or so after Ventures, but honestly it was mostly camping, and one really good game of Risk. With a different Venture leader, and a different group of people, I might have gone on. I might have at least stayed a while longer. My one regret is that I never did anything with Fantasy Camp as a Venture (usually there are a couple challenge areas done up by the Ventures), though I did do the Venture equivalent (less fantasy, more shooting small cannons and obstacle courses).

I won't deny a certain satisfaction to the high marks, I certainly enjoy them myself (I consistently do score at least one A+). I should perhaps say that, if faced with the option to go have some fun, or spend another 3-5 hours getting that A+ instead of an A, then perhaps you should consider having some fun. There is also a difference between getting lower marks because you don't know something, like say losing points on your math assignments, and losing a few points because you didn't spend hours making your English paper absolutely perfect. In other news, I got an A+ today from my computer course I was taking, which is fantastic news for me. 90.6%, so I'd say I pretty much nailed it (closer than I would like, was making me nervous, but I landed on the right side and get that extra .3 so yay me). Also got my computer setup at last. Been missing this. No desks for it anymore out here, so it's a fun setup. Also cleaned it out a bit, which mostly means I waved the vacuum at some fans, got duse out of the bottom, and removed the cpu fan to clear out the heatsink. Didn't have any compressed air unfortunately.

Not making friends your priority doesn't mean not making a lot of them. If you have a grade requirement on a schollorship, meet that. Most scholorships past first year will probably require a 3.7, as will a lot of employment opourtunities at the University (tend to pay poorly, but can offer very valuable experience, which is a very valuable commodity). I will also so that good marks tend to be a door to good relations with professors, which can very easily lead to connections you can use to get better jobs out of University. I would phrase it that your priority should be to set yourself up for the future. Marks are a gateway to perhaps a first job, less student debt, and world connections. Friends will probably be less important. People tend to drift apart after school, and most people make friends within their neighborhoods. So I would still consider freinds to typically be a short term focused goal, and something that should no be pursued to the extent that you sacrifice your future. On the flip side, there is very little to be gained being a strait A+ student vs an A- or even B+. The marks mean very little out of school, and you can open the doors with less than a perfect GPA. Sometimes the difference in work between a B and A isn't going to be worth it. Balance.

Today...
Got a new phone, sort of over the moon about it. It's identical to my old one, minus being in much better shape. Got it off a guy who still had the original freaking packaging, so that's always a good sign, and my SIM card lived, so that's good too. Some of my appointments are even still there if they were tired to a certain email address, an unexpected bonus. On a weirder note, I'm thinking the cellphone holder has been through the washing machine more than once, so both it and the phone are impregnated with the scent. I can actually smell it on the nightstand in the morning, so I'm glad it's a scent that doesn't bother me.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I suppose this is sort of contingent on it being established that you are infact on a date, but never leave the date without a plan. That is, never end with "I'll call you". If you do, imagine my avatar hitting you with his paper and saying "bad". If you want to wait two days, fine, but establish that. "I'll call you tuesday" for example. It just removes the guesswork. Apologies on the next comment, this caught my eye and I don't want to forget about it, but I am not awake enough to properly follow. I saw the comment about the conclusion being that you want both a mother and father figure, but ideally not living together, and I saw the implication being because then you don't see them bickering with each other. Now, my mind would immediately jump to divorce as the go to reason for that circumstance, and from what I have seen, that would be self defeating because of parents in that situation fighting, openly, for their children's affection. If you don't have the animosity that leads to using your child as a weapon against your former partner, either through a more amiable divorce or other circumstance, then I can see a point. I would have to wonder how the favourites dynamic plays out with two or more households as opposed to one (children have favorites and will prefer one parent to the other. I am wondering how the parents deal with that in a separate versus joint environment). I suppose I could also point out that the assumption that the children of parents who live together will see their parents fight is about as fair as my immediately jumping to an image of divorce where the parents hate each other, openly. I think both happen, and quite a bit, but not always. I guess my issue with that type of discussion is they become too broad. Children notice things and not others, so even though any couple will have conflicts, I think how that manifests would be more important than the fact that the conflicts exist. I would agree wholeheartedly that parents yelling at each other isn't helping the kids, but that type of conflict is specific to certain personality types as well.

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
Perhaps it wasn't a teacher, or perhaps my description is corrupted by the one my friend gave me when he explained the ability. It was Scan I think, to examine the enemy, not like a laser eyes attack. In any case, good to know which game that was. If I were to ever play a Final Fantasy game, I might look at playing that one first.

Fair point, if I put a password on it, the phone won't dial anyone even if I hit the keyboard lock on the top (which my torch did every once in awhile). And yes, the torch is fairly large, or at least quite long. That's why I was so amazed that the Q10 is larger still. Looks like I am going to pursue getting a second hand torch if I can get one is reasonable shape. Heard on the Radio something about EA being taken to court over using players likeness without compensating them. On the one hand, I like EA even less than Blizzard right now (Simcity 5 is making Diablo 3 look good, which you have to admit takes serious devotion to not caring about your customers), so I'm sort of happy to see them getting screwed (especially since they really should be licensing the likenesses. That's sort of how they justify releasing new games every year), on the other, I have to figure they will just pass it on to their customers. In happier gaming world news, I did find out that Taleworlds is creating Mount and Blade: II, and they are still dedicated to being on good terms with their own fans. Sounds like it's a long ways out yet, even to get to the point where they really start talking about it, but I am excited nonetheless.
