Yeah yeah :P Guess which acronym I use more. And thanks for the heads up.

Administrator Roles
I only listed those that have an active role in the decision making process. That would be Silverion plus the active administration team (the Quadrumvirate). ISP Tech is a member of our technical team, along with Silverion, MageUK, and Neminon. Neminon is our staff, IPS Tech is a memeber of IPS Technical Support, as the name would suggest. EhrenTemp does forum skin work for us, among other sites. Daigon is essentially Silverion's advisor.

Administrator Roles
The administrative team has recently been doing a bit of reorganizing, and it's about time that we made a post explaining to everyone what it is that each of us are responsible for. While the team is, as a whole, responsible for each of these areas, we all have our preferences and specialties, so these are the areas where we focus most of our energies. If you have questions or concerns for us, and are not sure who to send them to, then @Xena_Dragon or @Randox are usually your best bet. Owner - @Silverion He doesn't talk much, but as the owner of the site, the rest of the administration team reports to Silverion, who gives us our direction and mandate. He does not field questions, preferring to let the rest of the administration bring issues to him as needed. Systems Administrator - @MageUK MageUK is the man who keeps everything running. You won't see him very often, he does all his work behind the scenes maintaining our server, carrying out site maintenance and overseeing software upgrades. Crew Administrator - @Xena_Dragon The day to day operations of the crew fall to the Crew Leader @Baffler. The crew administrator oversees our website, and provides technical and administrative support for the crew leader, as well as joint leadership on larger issues. Queries regarding the crew and site can be directed to either Xena_Dragon or Baffler. Forum Administrator - @Randox The forum administrator oversees our forums, and is primarily responsible for the moderating team. The forum administrator also handles most of the account problem reports. Offence Appeals are a joint process between the entire administration team and super moderators. Any queries about the forums or the moderation team can be directed here. Queries about the rules can be directed here, or to members of the moderation team. Secondary Groups Administrator - @tripsis The secondary groups administrator oversees all our other branches of staff, namely the editorial panel and TMHT. Any Queries about these groups can be directed to her.

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
I still haven't gotten back to DeadSpace 3. I just...I just can't deal with the ubermorhps. Quite frankly, I don't know how I even fell in love with the second game, I don't typically get any enjoyment from being startled or stressed like that, and there are parts of the game I dread playing through, that I in no way enjoy. right now I am on a bit of a mass effect binge. Trying a couple things different, though I feel that on computers I am RPG impaired. I find it difficult to make choices that widely differ from my own, there are choices I simply can't make, and I don't think I'll ever be able to be a renegade (not that I don't take renegade action fairly frequently). Still massively enjoying it though.

Commercials that are tailored to your interests are fine. That's an improvement. Commercials tailored to the conversation you are having right that second are creepy, and if they advance it to making sure you pay attention, that's evil.

Taking java again. Fun to get back into this, would help if I had gotten myself back up to speed first, or at least had a full nights rest. Oh well, got through it. It looks like this class took in a lot of people from the preceding class in the previous term which had a different teacher and might have gone a bit further, so the toString and equals methods we are expected to write were new to me. That's cool, though having the first lab right after that class was less so. Computer was having a fun time with saving, loading, compiling, and running programs, while working fine for every other program doing everything else. Probably spent a good 15% of the lab, or more, waiting for my computer to do something. Definitely going to be working on the labs ahead of time again if the computers are going to be like that. Appreciate being able to sit back and read the Java book while working too.

Advertising purposes actually. Microsoft has a patent on something to scan your emails, texts, and browsing history while watching you with a webcam or kinect device to gauge your reaction, and feed you ads based on what it is seeing and hearing. Verizon has a patent on a cable box that does pretty much the same thing. It's not likely that it is uploading anything it sees, but it's going to get pretty creepy when the TV starts feeding ads based on what you're talking about your text messages. As it applies to paying attention to commercials, another patent comes to mind. Apple has one where they could lock up your iphone while it feeds you an ad, and you can't use it again until you complete some task that demonstrates you are paying attention. I am thinking something in the same vein, even simply making sure you don't leave the room for a pee break during the commercials.

Spent part of the weekend with my brother. He had a party last night during the hockey game, mostly for the husbands of all the women attending a friends bachelorette party. Fun times. Also helped him finish off his lower deck and a couple other odd jobs. Also got to drive the Yukon XL for a bit. BIG freaking truck. It's both much longer, and a bit wider than anything I have driven before (it fit the foosball table in the back seat with space to spare). At least a few feet in length over my parent's SUV (Pathfinder), and maybe 4 to 6 inches wider. Drives quite nicely. Also, it has the same "I'm a boss" feel to it that a Hummer does.

Interesting situation. Microsoft naturally gets a cut of new games sold for their system, so I can see why they wanted to stick with it. This doesn't really deal any blow to the march of DRM though, it just puts the consoles on pretty much the same footing, so that DRM on one will be mirrored on the other since it can still be required on both. Works nicely for Microsoft and Sony who can now stand back and let the games take the heat instead of the consoles.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Maddy, one of the beautiful things about this thread is that we are a lot more free than your friends are to offer our honest opinions. Of course, we have less to go on, so at the end of the day, there is definitely some balance.

I wouldn't mind serving jury duty, especially for something interesting. Preferably before I have a career going. We had one a while back where a whole bunch of people didn't show. It was so bad (as in, holding up cases because they didn't have a large enough jury pool) that the judge sent the Sheriff's onto the street and just started rounding people up, which they totally have the power to do, and provides a compelling reason for not walking past the courthouse. I should also clarify that in Canada, Sheriffs are the court police primarily handling court security and prisoner transport. A LOT of people have gotten some fairly hefty fines out of it, which is nice to see in my opinion. You really should not have to send the police into the streets to round up random people like that. Today I found out that our hot water heater was leaking. Not sure for how long, though it managed to turn the basement into a sauna. I didn't stay for the whole thing, think it was the pressure relief valve that just sort of gave up. Interesting day though. I see that Tim is in Fiji, not really sure what to make of that (read the blog, helped, still not sure though). Do try to have fun though. Beautiful place I'm sure, and it's always nice to get away from the world for a bit.

I thought listerine was methanol (the stuff that makes you blind), hence why you aren't supposed to swallow. Then again, that seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen, so I'll have to read the label next time. I am getting a bit tired of waiting for summer. Going from awesome weather with sun burns to long pants and jackets from day to day, with way too much rain. Kind of tiring. Want to get one of the jet skis back in the water. One from last summer is missing a part, which is find by me, since that means I can probably make sure its the red one going in this year. It's probably the most suited to making the trip into the ocean. Nice throttle control, and the most reliable engine. It's also got more power than last years.

All Things Paintball // Airsoft Thread
I can't really understand not wearing a full face mask. I get shot in the face all the time in paintball, it's the nature of the game and the way I play it. I am going to get hit in the face a lot. I figure at this point, I've already had enough facial injuries that I don't need to tempt fate. It's been stepped on, kicked, and hit with the points of flying wooden swords (that one was stiches, just in time for hockey camp no less).

We used to have heavier restrictions on retail stores being open on Sunday, and I think the reasoning was protection, ensuring that those that wanted to could go to church. Now we have so called Sunday Shopping, which allows the retail stores to open if they choose within a certain times, though there might also be something in there about not being allowed to force staff to work Sunday. Some stores open, some don't, since Saturday by far outdoes Sunday in terms of retail. I don't think the restrictions ever applies to grocery or corner stores either (anyplace you could get food), and gas stations have always been open every day of the year.

hey answer me this
I only take issues with evolving less precise language. Pristine has been misused so much that it now has clean listed in the dictionary, which is a shame because english doesn't have any other words that mean what pristine does, which is original condition. And no, mint condition isn't the same either, since pristine allows for restoration, which is probably why people took it to mean clean. Pursue is another one. If by chance someone manages to use that word, it is sometimes helpful to know if they think it's a synonym for browse, or they know it means the opposite. I browse for cards, my Mom purses them. On the other hand, foreign languages have plenty of words that English could use, as we have no words ourselves. Languages focus on things that are important to them, so you end up with languages that have words for very specific concepts that other languages require entire phrases for. An absolutely beautiful one is Neidbau (German), a more general form of the english 'spite fence'. It's a building that is often of little value to the owner built for the purpose of inconveniencing or angering the neighbors. Perhaps more relevant to this thread is Pilkunnussija (Finnish), meaning A person who believes it is their destiny to stamp out all spelling and punctuation mistakes at the cost of popularity, self-esteem and mental well-being. Of course, people who speak the languages correct me if I am using either of those words wrong.

Isn't needing a new motherboard for a laptop essentially needing a new laptop? Yes and no. It's a printer situation, sometimes its cheaper to just get a new printer than it is to buy more ink. Also, Tornado watch seems like a valid reason to not have people on tall flimsy structures that are exposed to the elements.

Does Battle Front look good, or did everyone just start drooling when they saw it? I'm interested to see if a new developer can do something neat with the game, or if it will be another clone or a disaster. And to be fair to Battle Front 2 being largely a clone to the first game, the first game was mostly perfect and didn't need all that much changing. As for the prices, if you are a console gaming, I think that's pretty reasonable. Relative to a PC, I find the consoles get a much better performance on the dollar. Given that I have a PC that I am looking at making a gamer PC once again, I think I have to take a pass. Also, I'm still not sure how I feel about game presentations at E3. On the one hand, that's sort of the point, and I certainly like a picture of where they think they are going (that Ubisoft is going in that direction is more than a little concerning to me). On the other hand, much like movie trailers they distort the truth a lot, so I find them to be very poor indicators of whether I might be interested in a game or not. Unless its a space game. Show me some pictures of space ships shooting each other and I'm sold.

I think we can all agree that, whatever the reason for not being able to pump your own gas in New Jersey, it's really stupid. I imagine driving the Carrera must have been. I've ridden in one before, but at the time I couldn't drive stick. Even that was pretty amazing. I still get a laugh out of the lack of cup holders (for anyone who has seen the intro to the movie Bad Boys).

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
Mass Effect is pretty awesome. The first game might be my favourite, though it lacks the armour customization of the third game (the second game does not count, it has less armour variety than it does weapon variety). I do miss the specter center in the other games, and the Mako. And unlimited ammo. These were all good things. Beat Portal again, this time with commentary. I love hearing about their challenges in training the player, especially in a game that is such a great example of it.

how to motivate my sister
Nothing to do with taboo, but it's the sort of armchair psychology that the every person can observe in their daily life, even inside their own head. The thing I am considering is that generally, weight comes from life style. Now, as far as I can tell, most people do generally only make major changes on their own when it totally hits the fan, if even then. Usually, people change for other people, but the catch is that you can't ask them too. Other people are usually the impetus, but if you don't make the decision for yourself to change, then the change doesn't stick. This is much of the reason that I advise not making someone defensive, because the last thing you want them to do is rationalize their behaviour, which is exactly what someone on the defensive will do. That's my reasoning. Also, given the concerns about an eating disorder, I'd assume she already has self image issues, though perhaps I am assuming too much.

how to motivate my sister
I suppose a couple thoughts occur to me. I'm just going to go with Hedgehog on this. don't single someone out, or you'll cause them to instinctively become defensive, which is counter productive. From my own experience (though my issue is the opposite. If I eat badly, I lose the ability to absorb any nutrients at all), the best thing you can probably do to help is clear the house of food that doesn't fall into whatever you are aiming for. That is, make it harder to eat poorly by reducing the availability of the unhealthy food, to give her own self control a helping hand without insulting her.

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
Yeah, the reviews have me iffy on it as well because I'm wondering about these bugs. Honestly though, I jsut don't like dealing with the flight controls, because as awesome as the freedom is, I pretty much just use thrust and strafe, and maybe a bit of rolling. If I were to put more time into the game, I would definitely create a new profile for my mouse to deligate the up and down controls to it, as well as allowing myself to perform the rolling that way. I'd also be able to map all the weapons to it. I guess my other issue is that I have a lot of space games, so at this point, if something isn't taking my breath away and sprinting down the street with it, then I'm not going to buy it. I don't have anything quite like this, but I have games that, taken together, are quite similar. Project Freedom and Starpoint Gemini are the ones I am most reminded of, for combat and mining respectively. On that note, I see there is a Starpoint Gemini 2 coming perhaps this year. The first game has an even more abysmal ranking of 46, and I can certainly see where people are coming from with that. It's not a great game, but it could be. My issue was that I didn't care a lot for the campaign, and the sandbox got really boring when I got myself a Dreadnaught that was only rarely running into any kind of trouble. It could take on space stations, and it was a rare sight to meet enough enemy ships in one place to give me a fight where I could possibly lose. Really, it was like Starfleet Command 3, which I own, and SFC3 is a much better game, even if I have to sacrifice a virgin to the pagan gods to get the game to run, and then only by the light of a full moon. Indie game with terrible russian accent and wooden inflection, or command a Klingon Negh'var Heavy Cruiser to glorious victory (all Klingon ships are awesome to pilot, being light and fast. Vor'cha has the best name though). And now I want to play SFC3, maybe have a fight between the Scimitar and a borg cube. If you can find a copy of the game, I highly recommend it if you are a Star Trek fan. Unlike the previous titles, they actually had the licenses for the proper ships, so they are the actual ships from the show, including some that aren't seen much. The only one I really notice as missing are the Valdure class Romulan ships. Their biggest ship, barring the Scimitar, is the D'deridex, the Romulan Warbird.

how many warning points do you have?
The admin rolls a successful saving throw at +15 against your goon ban. Do note that I did not suggest this game be carried on in forum games, though ban the person above you would be pretty close. If it was interpreted that way, my apologies, since that would make one question my sanity. Also, I don't think I ever properly posted on this thread. I have 0 warning points, though I think perhaps my 3rd to 5th post on these forums was removed for, very deliberate (it was ruining my joke), censor evasion, and I got warned for it. I don't know any jokes that don't break at least one rule here :( I would also never be allowed to post a transcript of anything I have ever said while playing Mario Kart. Well, there is one. But it's a pun, so it doesn't count.

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
I tried the demo for Miner Wars, and I am very glad that the Meta score gave me pause to do that, rather than buy it after seeing jefmajor play it. A lesson I have learned long ago is that he can make just about any game look good. I'm not sure about any bugs or whatnot, not having gotten that far into it, but it's not the game for me. It looks cool, and it's a neat and ambitious game to be sure, but I probably wouldn't get more out of it than say Project Freedom, which I already own and cost me like $5. I think I am going to hold that money in reserve for Kinetic Void when the alpha gets to a point where it looks like I might want to jump in and continue to mind my time with games I already own, such as Sims 3 which I have not played enough of.
