What movie(s) did you last see?
Took a look at Blitz, looks good. Not available on Canadian Netflix though, and while I know of a free way to work around that, it's a bit of a pain (I also need to wait for a slot to open up apparently), so I might look at just getting it for real. As a general rule, I like most of the movies Jason Statham is in, though I did give Crank 2 a miss. If you like the actor, probably a lesser known movie of his (guessing, though just because it was unknown to me doesn't mean everyone else on Earth has already seen it) is The Mechanic (2011). Also, Death Race. Death race is pretty awesome. It has a very minimal plot so there is more room for racing cars with mounted weapons (because lets face it, that's what your watching the movie for). The second Death Race is pretty good too, maybe even better, though it doesn't have Jason Statham in it.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Wasn't an option. To be effective, it had to be a certain strength, and I react to it with the amazing combination of euphoria and anxiety. I actually had to stop it for another reason as well, since it can lead to certain complications that would be particularly bad for me. The medication that has ultimately replaced it is much nicer anyway.

Today...
A point about female biology. When the female body is pregnant (or thinks it is, as is the case with birth control pills), the preference for MHC (Major Histocompatibility Complex) is reversed. This is a fairly big deal, since MHC determines whose scent you find attractive (human pheromones), which in turn would seem to have a pretty big bearing on who you fall in love with. Probably a good chance that this is a big factor in higher divorce rates, since people get married without her ever not being on the pill, finding out that their bodies think they are totally incompatible only later, when they go to have a child.

Looking for a New Game? Ask Here!
Today I pulled out Sega GT 2002 for my xbox, and I have to say, I really love this game. I also have project gotham, which I am decidedly less fond of. I am wondering if anyone had some ideas for a racing game in the vein of Sega GT that I might be able to get for the computer. Nice car selection, and not feeling like a total arcade game. In particular, I am hoping to be able to get both Nissan and Lotus cars.

What movie(s) did you last see?
I liked District 9, but it's one of those movies I find you only watch once. I have no intention of ever watching it again. After the surprising find of triple dog, I looked in the independent section on Netflix and found Video Game High School. Definitely recommend it to anyone who likes games, as long as you life comedies, and don't expect the movie to take itself all that seriously. Roll with it and you shall laugh.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Heh, I was on a drug for a week a while back that caused euphoria as one of the side effects. I'm with you, that while that might be kind of an awesome feeling, it's not entirely pleasant when it lasts to long.

What movie(s) did you last see?
Urgh, so did follow the typical arc. I was hoping that since we already did the whole self doubt thing, we might not do the lose powers. Too true, it's a terrible way to make a movie, and I wish super hero trilogies would cut that out. I watched triple dog tonight. Not going to lie, while the plot itself is great (I liked it), the script is not. Or rather, the script was written by someone who tried to be hip, and you're either going to laugh or cringe. Everything else is good though, the plot, and the acting in particular, though I did note some reviews talked about a lack of interesting background, presumably because they require their movies to spoon feed every detail to them, rather than leaving the viewer to ponder things, or accept that sometimes characters exist for the sole purpose of facilitating the story. I'm not entirely sure how it got an R rating. I assume the review board collectively got up on the wrong side of bed that week. It's also not a thriller. It's just kind of fun, though it also reminds me a tad of the movie States Evidence, which I really wish I could find again (minus the part where it goes all Hamlet).

What book are you currently reading?
I stopped liking e-readers when I noticed how many of them require you buy the books through them, rather than reading any file in the proper format you happen to have. I have zero interest in downloading books I do not own. However, my personal collection of about 20 years of age is several hundred novels strong, and I am not inclined to buy books twice. Well, there are a few I would certainly be willing to throw some extra money at the author for sure, but I am not inclined to pay for the privilege to read my books on an inferior, if more portable, platform (I prefer to read paper. I'd like to be able to take a few books with me when I travel, without the part where my carry on weighs 10 lbs. There are also nights I might prefer to not risk dropping a large novel on my face when I fall asleep at 4am because I can't put it down). There is also the point that I loathe the idea that say, Amazon, could delete my book library on a whim like they did to this guy (and as much as I use it now, I am wary of the same thing with steam). Of course the solution is quite simple. PDF is a free format, readable with a free program, and on a playbook it can serve as an e-reader, so yeah. Problem solved.

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
That's crazy talk! (Also, do not google image seach 'crazy talk' if you were planning on sleeping tonight. Don't say I didn't warn you, and you're welcome for the nightmare fuel) Sees_all is correct as well, though there seems to be an exception for 'first person to fall asleep on a trip'.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Well, I'm glad the two of you got the whole arguing the same side at each other out of the way, because I had a post I wanted to make, but I need some posts between me and the one that sparked it, or I just look silly (at the risk of still looking silly). In brief, all human relationships are self serving. We all get something from having relationships (and this is any kind of amiable social relationship, and it also applies to at least one side of an adversarial relationship as well). We form communities because simply put, we get more done. Rather than having each person, or even each family, try to figure out all this stuff for themselves (stuff being technology, economics, politics, etc), we pool our resources, allow people to focus on their strong suits, and increase our net gain. These are the advantages of being a social creature, which we keep alive partly through needs/desires that are part of our genetics (some people do cope just fine without any human interaction. Others certainly start to lose it after a few months of total isolation, and I expect this would be the majority of us). My point though, is that it's also co-operative. That we can, and do, serve ourselves by serving others. Now Mugi is right about sticking in an unhappy relationship. But we seek relationships out, and we make compromises, because other people have/are things we need, and this is how we get them. I'm also interested in the discussion of happiness. If you take happiness to be the release of endorphin's, the brains own feel good drug, then you can't be happy all the time unless your brain is seriously broken. It's specifically designed to reward you, and then cut off the supply to make you earn the reward again. If this didn't happen, we would all turn into Pandas. Perfectly happy to sit on our asses all day, every day, doing the absolute bare minimum to stay alive (bamboo is not their staple food. Panda's are carnivores, bamboo is like plan D). The only reason they aren't extinct yet is because we think they are cute (because they totally are), so we artificially inseminate them to keep the species going (I'm not sure what has actually gone wrong with that species, but I think it illustrates the point nicely). This doesn't mean you can't be content, satisfied, or otherwise pleased with yourself and your life, but I think the idea that you can somehow be happy all the time is fantastically ludicrous, and it's that expectation, that people think there is some magical mood where you are farting rainbows and your brain is full of sunshine and teddy bears all day, and they are missing out on it because they haven't figured out the secret yet, is what makes people unhappy, or at least makes them think they are. The closest thing to that is probably mania. When I read Mugi's posts, to me it seems less like constant hits of happy (as I use the word. Given how much the meaning has changed over time, I'm not the least bit inclined to criticize or correct how people use the word), but he has worked out a, I suppose system, to organize his life such that he can consistently enjoy it, and I think what Muggi calls happiness is what I call enjoyment. The one I see tripping people up is the belief that there is some secret way by which your head can be full of lollipops and sunshine all the freaking time, without lifting a finger, and they are upset, they are decidedly unhappy, because they don't feel this way, not realizing that biologically, you can't feel that way without the aid of a mental illness or brain trauma (or possibly being reincarnated as a Panda). You have to work at that one. Once you make peace with that, you can move on to actually enjoying life as it is, safe in the knowledge that your not really missing out on anything. Just some hopefully mostly coherent thoughts.

Today...
Welcome to my world. I post probably a little over half of the posts I write, and still the terrible ones squeak through late at night. Actually, it's something I've started to pay more attention, the difference between how I am when it's a nice sunny day, and how I am when maybe I haven't even seen the sun since I woke up (not because I wake up at 8pm, but because we get enough fog or cloud cover this time of year you don't see the sun every day). Apparently some of the more pleasant facets of my personality are solar powered

13-May-2013 - The Nexus
I prefer the social methods, even if it means giving up an xp rate, or even gathering any useful resources. Training any skill is boring. I like talking. I am extremely pleased to see they finally fixed the cloning hatchet/pickaxe thing. Not a common activity for me, but probably my top item. I figure the reason this isn't f2p is because it covers pretty much the entire span of free prayers, except the final 3. This is a problem if people are using f2p to see how they like the game, because of what happens next. I imagine that perhaps gaining a few quick levels burrying, then getting all these levels fairly quickly with the new game, then trying to bury bones again would be a bit of a shock, and not in a good way. In members, there are other methods that can take over, matching or exceeding the xp rate, so that you don't have a massive drop in speed all at once, which f2p lacks (because the person who set the xp rate for the original prayer skill had a vendetta against fun). That's my best guess. That said, I imagine that part of the overall inconsiquential nature of the update in terms of game impact, is because it's someones first project. It's a learning experience, so in that sense it is logical to give it such little impact. Still, I do agree, it could be a nice thing for f2p to have, even if it only gave out the xp to say level 30 or 35.

What book are you currently reading?
Since my parents have started watching game of thrones, I figured high time to pick up the books. Of course, I now have 6 episodes to get through before next weekend (more if they watch one without me, since I'll be watching it to catch up). I can certainly see the sheer number of characters getting chapters getting interesting to say the least, though not entirely unexpected given the scale of the plot and the number of concurrent plot lines involved. I am only 5 chapters in (was reading for a bit in the afternoon), and enjoying it quite a bit. I am looking forward to reading it on more rest though. I am tired enough that my pacing is a bit slow.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
@Ginger The best way I have ever seen that phrased is simply "Your first time is going to be a humiliating disaster, no matter what you do" These are the things they don't teach you.

SMC Barricade g 2804WBRP-G
Does the fixed computer have a wireless card of it's own that is simply out of range, or are you hoping to use the router as a wireless receiver? I took a look at the router, and it seems that it's quite typical in that all it can do is share an internet signal. This means it's only useful from the modem end of the connection. Whether the computer you are trying to reach is itself wireless or not, your best bet is probably a wireless repeater. I have a DAP-1360 myself, which seems to work quite well. If the PC is wireless, you want it set up as a repeater to extend the range of the wireless signal, meaning you want it about halfway between the computer and router in a position where it has a good signal to both. If the computer is not wireless, and it's not that far outside the routers range, I believe many of them (such as the one I use) can also act as a remote access point. You would place it someplace where it can get the signal, and run an ethernet cable back to the computer, making it a remote wireless card (it will only work for a single computer when used this way). For the printer, I believe there is a way in windows to make it a shared device, which should allow other computers on the local network to access it through that computer. It's not something I have done in a long time though, so I wouldn't be able to walk you through that. If the printer could be moved, that router I believe also has a usb port where the printer could be connected. Also, depending on the printer, many of them have some form of networking capability, be it ethernet cable, wireless, or bluetooth.

HTML5 beta discussion
The name escapes me, but the fmod who created a linux client for the Java version has been running the beta on linux as well. I believe support is still quite patchy though, since you are a bit at the mercy of the support for your hardware.

Unless you have the worst car insurance policy ever, writing off a car means they compensate you for whatever the car was worth, which is quite common since cars involved in accidents quite often are worth less than the cost to fix them (fender benders and other low speed collisions are exceptions, but pretty much anything at road speed is a guaranteed write off). In the United States, a speedometer is allowed up to a 10% margin of error in additional speed, and allowed no margin of error for under reporting. As a result, all speedometers will overestimate by design, to make sure they are compliant My understanding is that this tends to be worse in newer luxury cars, with many older cars and economy cars being the most accurate. As you said though, if you really want to know, use a GPS. They are significantly more accurate. I am unsure of the margins for other countries, but I would expect them to be similar.

Doubt anyone actually believes that, and if they do I doubt they'd post it on facebook. I've seen too much satire of those "kooky" tea partiers and right wing "nut jobs" to trust a sourceless wall of text on the internet. Hey, you know what would be fun? To dress up like my political opposite, join their protest and pretend to be racist idiots to try and tar them all. You don't think that of the 7 billion people on this planet there are at least a couple that roughly fit that bill? That's not my point though. I really mean only that, given the earth population, the variety of backgrounds, and a garden variety of mental illnesses, there are some very scary people that I don't really care to meet. It's actually quite comforting that most of the people you might consider to be your regular lunatics are not even close to that level crazy. Oh, and never doubt what people will publish. There is a rather famous/infamous book collection in the united states, that combined with its author, sort of demonstrates what I am thinking about. The actual post from facebook itself that was quoted reeks of satire, and is actually quite funny if you take it to be such.

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
And the creepy post of the year award goes to TTanT. @Saq, at the very least your supposed to draw inappropriate pictures and phrases on them before you leave. Permanent markers are the standard, though if you are particularly artsy, Henna has more staying power. Should someone fall asleep in the sun, the tradition is to write in sunscreen.

.
It's also just a little bit scary that there are people out there who do believe that. The crazy people who make it difficult for everyone else who is roughly on their side, because everyone else can point at the crazies as justification to assume that everything after 'pro gun control' is just the sound of crazy.

Today...
Sounds like quite the day Distracted. Wouldn't tell any authorities you were going over the limit, though the gps might be able to snitch on you, since insurance companies will charge you more for a very long time if they know you speed (they already charge you more for being male, no need to justify that to them :P). Normally it's an issue for speeding tickets, or pretty much any citation about your driving. Still helping my parents with packing up on weekends. I listen to my phone at night as part of how I sleep, and here the thing I set it on has a bit of a lip, which I assume is why it's not on the floor constantly (I have a headband with speakers in it). I assume that's teh problem anyway since I had to start putting it under the other pillow at their place because I kept turning over too much and having it land on the floor, which I'm sure is brilliant for it. Also started watching the Game of Thrones with them, so I guess now I don't really have a choice, I need to start reading the books, so at the very least I'll be trying to get ahead since we are already 6/10 through season one. Steve, awesome getting the camera you are after. Curious to know why you were after it though, unless you have a camera collection I don't know about.

Divination - one of the new skills reported by IGN
I am going to assume, for my own piece of mind, that it will not resemble the daily challenges we already have, because that sounds like the nightmare slayer only aspires to be (slayer being hands down one of my least favorite skills). Not opposed to a skill that gets trained through many or all of the other non combat skills, I just want it to be entirely open ended, not restrictive like slayer. I am about to cross the point where I only have to train skills for questing, having accomplished all my current personal goals. Since I don't care to train most of the skills in the game anymore, it would be quite a downer if a new skill walked into the scene and had me start training the skills I hope to never see ever again, or at least for a very long time.
-
Today...
That sounds more like a Siberian Husky  You've obviously put a lot more time and effort into training Ammo than we have into ours though. We (and everyone else I know who has one) settled for house training and giving them enough exercise to keep them from eating all the shoes. Any commands we taught them were kind of hit or miss about whether they felt like obeying at the time, or wanted to play instead.

Divination - one of the new skills reported by IGN
While I remember it, having been reminded of the pending skill reworks, I am just a tad put out that we would get new skills before they fix construction. Of course, I recognize that the number of people who are such big fans of the skill are comparatively tiny compared to most skills. Still, this is part of the reason my house is not complete (the other part being I have not secured a money tree yet). So yeah, get on that. I am glad to see people have ideas about the skill that don't sound totally ridiculous (as in, things that would fit into the game). That will hold me over until I find out what it is I suppose, as a sort of hope that this will be alright. I say this because my initial reaction was to face palm and laugh for a minute. Also, my scale of respect for arcane disciplines (cool factor, not necessarily utility, as this tends to be quite specific to the fantasy setting) is roughly as follows: (lowest) Divination - Everything Else - Necromancy (highest) I'm also still very much on the fence about Jagex having the players shape the future of the game. On the one hand it could be very cool. On the other hand...I am perhaps lacking a little faith in our collective choices.

Future Update Discussions
This weeks teasers are up. Looks to be the new prayer training.
