Where in the World is Tip.it?
I'm happy to add people onto the map if people want to PM me their location, or place it here and I'll do just the same. Thanks stevepole.

Political Poll
That's not the question I asked. You said social services were swallowing money better than any RS sink or something like that, yet you have no evidence for this, so am I and the rest of us to assume your political beliefs are formed essentially via assumptions and half-truths? I agree we should never have gone to Iraq or Afghanistan. I said that at the time, as did many Labour Party members and voters who marched in Hyde Park before the Iraq invasion began. What we're doing in Libya right now is frankly anyone's guess, but whatever it is, it's gone beyond the 90-day limit set by NATO.

Political Poll
How about social services, who are already suffering from years of underfunding and consequently don't have enough staff in local government to cope. Are they "swallowing money"? Money presumably which they don't have.

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
I looked on another RS fansite recently and in its OT section it had a board for RS blogs. Gave me this horrible image of teenage guys logging off RuneScape, updating their blog as a form of escapism, then logging straight back on again.

I'm not sure "swallowing money" is all that great a euphemism for "saving lives".

This tweet: It's spelling, idiot, and ironically that sentence lacks a full stop.

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
Me and one of my girl friends (notice the space?) about four years ago once agreed, "When you're saying 'lol' in real life, you know you're spending too much time on MSN." Using it on purpose therefore proves you're trying too hard.

An eighty point advantage over his teammate, it's worth emphasising. Alonso is the highest non-RB driver now and he's already conceded defeat.

The F1 Thread 2012 Season
Tut tut... cheeky! Team orders... Nothing wrong with them of course, from a technical perspective. But Horner would do himself the world of favours by coming onto the BBC after the race and just admitting it was because Vettel is ahead in the championship, and stop with this business about 'the team' and how the racers are free to drive. It's painfully obvious Webber is acting as a second driver.

If you were the perfect version of yourself...
I'd find it very difficult being perfect, given a lot of what drives me in life is trying to find some meaning to it, and we learn the hardest lessons through our mistakes not our triumphs.

It's not like my identity is all that hard to crack, really, if anyone actually tried. I'd give you my email address via PM is this was needed.

We already have laws that prevent people from dumping litter before they find a bin. I'm not sure why some airy-fairy, intangible and generally confusing idea is needed to stop people from littering... unless of course what we're actually admitting is there'll be less police officers to enforce the law.

Where in the World is Tip.it?
Judging by the fact that Will lives in Norwich, and his was vandalised... the perpetrator must have come from Ipswich. I will post this green and gold Canaries scarf as retribution: Shame really. One idiot who presumably came on here after using the main site for help on RuneScape, supplied to him/her by thousands of volunteers hours and completely free of charge, decides to repay the community of that website by trashing a light piece of fun.

A New country is born
I'm sure it'll be like the Democractic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea, who are colloquially known as North and South Korea respectively. You can go all over the world and find weird official names for sovereign states.

Political Poll
Because it is my belief that Labour in principle best supports the concepts that people who inherit more and earn the most from society should have to pay most back into society as a means of social progression, and that those who aspire to make more of themselves should not have their opportunities decided by who they were born to or how much their family owns, but by simply whether or not they have the talent to realise that potential--recent figures from Oxbridge suggest we haven't done enough when it comes to sending people from less wealthy backgrounds to our top universities. I also advocate the welfare state, as a means of providing shelter and support to those who are experiencing financial hardship. I also believe that fairness is a goal in itself that requires no further validation, and that this should not be interfered with because of idealogical dogma. By contrast with the Conservatives, I do not believe people should just be allowed to inherit their family's wealth from generation to generation, because this isn't the basis for a progressive economy where the disparity between rich and poor is reduced. I also do not believe that a reduction in public expenditure helps those who are capable of lifting themselves out of poverty, but are unable to do so because funding for local projects has been scrapped--an example of this is how the JobCentre recently has had to drop its promise of work experience to 16 to 24 year olds who are long-term unemployed (six months plus) simply because they can no longer afford to make such opportunities available; or the scrapping of Educational Maintenance Allowance for those children who attend further education coming from low-income families. Tory plans for married couples to have tax breaks are fundamentally unfair to those parents who have to raise children on their own, often for good reasons such as death or a 'healthy' divorce, and it's obvious such plans are driven by the Tories' idealogical dogma about the sanctity of marriage and thus the Church than they are about keeping families together and making sure children are raised in a loving and supporting environment. In addition, this 'Big Society' idea is a scandal, when funding for charitable organisations, particularly local ones, has been all but eliminated. The Conservative government wants more people to become volunteers--I don't think there's a political party alive that would honestly say they want less people volunteering in their local community--but they won't provide funding so that they can be trained.

Political Poll
I've yet to meet any politician I completely 100% agree with. I think they're all wrong to varying degrees. But at the end of the day, I'd rather see my Labour MP representing me in the House of Commons than a different party that I fundamentally disagree with, such as UKIP or the Conservatives. At least with Labour on the basics, I agree. The detail I'll argue about later if I feel strongly enough about it. Don't you see what I'm saying? To not vote against someone you completely disagree with is to offer the same level of tacit support to someone you do half agree with.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I don't know about any body else but... if I was suffering from a lack of experience I'd want things to be going as slowly as possible, not rushing in there like the proverbial bull. I'm kind of worried to be honest because if she does happen to find someone willing to move as quickly as she is I'm afraid it'll turn into a runaway train crash, or worse still, she'll find someone that takes advantage of the keeness and doesn't really care about the emotional consequences. I mean, people 'date' for a reason, has she never heard of taking it slowly? But this is all digression really. At the end of the day, what position are you in? She's 200mi away so dating is impracticle. She's a little bit... clingy, shall we say, at least she's full of something that doesn't endear herself to you. Is there much going for this relationship before it's even begun? If the answer is 'No' then... just tell her politely to get lost. IDK make up some semi-BS excuse like, "I live too far away and I'm focused on school because I don't want to mess up my chances of going to uni, so maybe we should just move on." Make yourself seem vulnerable and make it look like you've got a decent enough reason for GTFO-ing out of there and she'll probably buy it without taking it too personally. EDIT: I just read on the political thread that you're from the UK. I previously assumed the US, but 200 mi in the UK is a HUGE distance. I worked out how much it would cost me to get on a train for 200 mi from Preston and it's upwards of £80.

Well if you fear being alone with her it's not like there's anything to chase anyway. I agree with tripsis. EDIT: Ten push-ups for me.

Political Poll
This is true, around one in three youths carry knives on them and Glasgow as well as some northern cities have some truly appaling figures for knife crime. However, the UK also has one of the lowest youth homicide rates in the world. Recently it's "tripled" as the Telegraph put it, but arguably that's because numbers were low to begin with. The homicide rate in the UK is relatively much smaller than the appropriate figures from the US; in 2009, just three out of 52 states had a lower homicide rate than England & Wales. It's something of a red herring when people try to compare British gun control laws and apply them to the US anyway. British gun ownership was never as widespread as it is right now in the US, particularly amongst poorer social classes which, perhaps ironically, experience higher levels of crime. It's a totally different culture. Anyway, this can be discussed in the upteen gun control threads OT has seen over the past few years. I'm just pointing out just because gun ownership is restricted in this country, it doesn't mean people go around stabbing people instead necessarily.

Or run for election yourself (age permitting), since the only person on this whole planet who'll ever completely agree with you is you.

Political Poll
I don't want to sound harsh, given this is a survey thread but... that's silly. Politics has an impact on just about everything you do in life so to say "I don't care 'coz I care about other things" makes no sense whatsoever. If you care about other things, you care about politics. If I told you that your country is about to accept two million economic migrants when your hypothetical country has an unemployment rate of 10%+ and youth unemployment around 50%, I reckon you'd "have political views". If I told you that your country is about to cut all funding from health and social care projects and direct the money towards defence and military spending during a sustained period of peace, I reckon you'd "have political views". I can understand apathy about political parties and if no party really represents your viewpoint, then fine. But apathy about politics itself is nonsense and counterintuitive.
