  1. Not true. You are required to be Muslim by heritage, but if you believe in Christian ideology...I personally know one such person. No, you either believe Jesus is the son of God, or you don't. It's as simple as. Religion is not hereditary, unless it's forced upon you, which doesn't strike me as particularly American anyway. What facts are these? That he sat on a charity board for this bomber? Oh damn, is that all you've got against him? Palin makes him sound like al-Qaeda's second-in-command who's really on an agenda to overthrow the federal government and turn the US into an Islamic Republic. But then she also calls abortion "murder", she doesn't seem to have a problem with her campaign receiving dodgy cheques from failing banks, she doesn't seem to have a problem with opening a third front on the War on Terror, she seems to believe that a bridge which she claimed was vital for prosperity is no longer needed, she doesn't seem to recognise global warming is in part a man made problem, she seems to believe being governor of the least densest state in the Union for just two years qualifies you for VP, and she seems to believe a degree in journalism means she's more qualified than fully trained scientists in deciding whether polar bears are endangered; so frankly, it doesn't surprise me she'll also blow this out of all proportions. If you, along with the neo-cons in America, prefer to be scared into a vote through misrepresentation of opinions, rather than look for a candidate with rational answers based on Planet Earth, then you go right ahead and vote for the Palin-McCain ticket (no typo). But don't sit here and wonder in four years time why America has lost its global authority because the world is sick to death of those neo-cons controlling our economic system and invading countries they have no right to invade, on the basis they're more "moral" than the rest of the world.
  2. See, there's one thing I just can't get about this whole pastor thing. They accuse Obama of having a dodgy pastor in a Christian church, and then you get some people going about saying he's a half-Muslim (like such a thing exists anyway). Note the bold: you can't really be both. ...Are these people unable to comprehend simple logic, or are they just plain stupid?
  3. Homebrew on a Wii connected to the Internet receiving updates = bad idea. Same goes with AR and any other non-licensed software you can think of. As for MKWii, I didn't mind it. I think the online play was a lot better than it was on MKDS. Snaking has been, to all intents and purposes, removed, which makes it easier on the fingers. The only thing stopping it from being a proper contest instead of a random result are the items. I'm fed up of blue shells appearing from no where when you're about 30 seconds ahead of everyone. If they can't catch me, that's their fault.

I was playing last night on Basic Brawl (I know, it's horrible training but the FF's down -.-). I've never had any problems on that, and it was laggy. I think it was their servers. I got kicked off at one point.
  5. The odd all-nighter doesn't actually hurt a great deal. You'd be amazed how many people are still in libraries at 1am studying or completing coursework because they've put it off until the last night. Take some Red Bull to stop you turning off. Don't make it a regular occurrence though, or you will burn out eventually. My only study tip would be to get a highlighter, or a pen and ruler, and just make the points that are important stick out from the page. Then write them out again on a notepad and see how many short notes you can add to it, or if you're a visual learner, make a mind map or something. It helps put the information in the mind and it also tests how much you can actually remember so you can tell where you're weak. But yeah, should really have done this a week ago.
  6. Wouldn't the world be better if we just moved to metric? Because counting in twelves and fourteens is so much better than tens, obviously. OK, there's twelve inches to a foot. 5" is about 150cm, so each foot is around about 30cm, meaning each inch is about 2.5cm (rounded down, it's actually 2.54cm). As for weight, here's a converter, but there's fourteen pounds to a stone, and 8 stone is about 50kg (slightly more, actually, but we'll round down), so each stone is about 6.25 kilos, making it 2.2 pounds to every kilo. Rain, so long as you're healthy and you can still go through everyday life without any physical difficulty, you're fit and you've nothing to worry about. I would imagine every NFL player is technically overweight, but they're not technically unfit because they can still play a game of football. In fact, many would argue they need that weight to play effectively. Being overweight =/= being unfit. They are two completely different terms. Same goes for being underweight, although that's more of a worry because the symptoms aren't as obvious as the symptoms for being overweight.
  7. I know you don't like me replying to you but, meh... :P Let's reverse the roles here. A country (strike that, alliance (Tip.It needs a tag)) invades wherever you live. They completely destroy your infrastructure, set up a government of their own moral values, and remain inside your country after realising they've unleashed anarchy. Wouldn't you just start to care about the countries that have done this? I know I would.
  8. :o good idea  16th b'day party coming up too  Don't worry about it. Seriously. There is SO much more to life than relationships. Just have a good time. If you get with someone, yippee, but don't kick yourself about it if you don't. If people are judging you for not having a girlfriend, what does their opinion matter anyway?
  9. You mean there are people who actually believe Obama has links with terrorists? Wow... I had Tip.It down to be slightly more intelligent than that.
  10. Using 11 stone 6 lb, and 5"11': You're right in the middle of the good zone. Nothing heavy about you whatsoever. The calculator's here if you wanna double check: http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/magazine/in ... index.aspx
  11. This is my third attempt at writing this post, heh. I can't really think of a way to describe how RS totally destroyed the life I once had, and once enjoyed so much. [hide=Long post]I used to be quite an outgoing chap. Hard to think of it now. I'd go out at least once every weekend. I was physically active, and I gave everything my absolute 100%. I was also quite confident, I had a group of around five mates that I kept in touch with. I was on MSN pretty much every night, hours on end, talking to people and listening to music. Otherwise, I'd be out. Easily the happiest and most content I have ever been. That changed though, so much. Physically, RS forced me to stay at my computer for hours on end and this was not helpful for my eyes or my back. After playing two years of RS, my back is now sore near the hip. My eyesight deteriorated rapidly as well. Being hooked onto RS meant that I wasn't going out as much as I did in my high school years, and as a result, I put on weight massively. I went from 8" (50kg) when I started college in 2006 to 10" (62kg) upon leaving college just two years later. Without RuneScape I've have probably stayed out as much as I used to, so if I hadn't ever come across RuneScape, I'd probably be in much better shape than I am now - in fact, staying off RS is already having an effect on me personally. I'm starting to lose weight (I'm hoping to get to about 52-55kg again), and my eyesight has stabilised. My back hasn't stopped seizing, so I'm presuming that's probably permanent damage. Socially, I also took a knock. You hear it all the time, but at the age of 16-18, you're growing up faster than you ever will do in your life. I'm not talking physically, but mentally too. This is where you start to remove abstract opinions of "black and white", and started to say things in a tone of gray. It's a confusing time for everyone, even the best of us. Because I spent all my time on RS, I started to become a recluse. Aside from my family, my girlfriend (I met before playing RS) and her family, I don't think I interacted with anyone in real life. Can you imagine that? Going through life talking to just seven people outside of work/school? I did, and let me tell you, it's a [bleep] miserable existence. When you need to get away from it all, or if you want to go out somewhere, you can't because you've been left behind playing some stupid game. The relationship between me and my girlfriend ended. Now what? Absolutely no one. It's only since quitting RS completely that I've started to become more confident about communicating using the spoken word, and started to interact with people outside. I can talk to complete strangers now and not have a problem. The thought of doing that a year ago would probably have sent me into a nervous wreck. Now, yes, it wasn't just RS that caused those things. There were other things as well. I started to isolate myself from music and almost all forms of reading. This made me very closed minded and hostile towards anything 'different' to myself and the way I live my life, which in turn, made me quite bitter, angry and generally unpleasant. I have to accept responsibility for my own actions, and the way I was so weak-minded as to let this addiction take such a chokehold over my entire life. The transition from high school to college was hard too. They were inextricably linked in the way my lifestyle changed almost beyond recognition. But if you're asking where I'd be without RuneScape, then the answer is the last two years of my life - the happiest two years for many, many people - would not have been as dark as they were. I never want to be in that confused state again. The fact is, if you get addicted to drugs, or alcohol, cigarettes or even sex, violence and gambling; people refer you to get help. Support's free on the NHS. If it's something like that, something tangible, people care because they see the addiction for themselves. What happens if you're addicted to a game though? Nothing, because you're hidden and not talking to anyone while you're doing it. That's why it's so important not to let yourself spend hours a day on this game, or any game for that matter. It ruins lives.[/hide]
  12. There's no biological need for many things in the world, yet we still have them or do them. Doesn't make them unnecessary at all. Unless you're arguing that hunting in this day and age is an absolute necessity for survival, that's a completely redundant point. Not even pro-hunting campaigners argue that it is a necessity. The closest they come, in general, is that it is necessary in order to "control the countryside".
  13. You do realise sport goes on throughout the year, don't you? I mean, if you want two sports that go together to instantly fill up a calendar in the UK, there's football and rugby league. Football plays through the winter, rugby league plays through summer. There's a whole load of other sports too. To prove my point, the NFL thread is averaging about 2 posts a day. The advertisement sticky is averaging less than one. Given there are more sport events than the NFL, and more countries in the world than the US, I think it's reasonable to have a board for sports, and other physical activities and general lifestyle+health advice.
  14. Not trying to flame here, but what's wrong with hunting? Hunted animals are often eaten. If we didn't breed certain animals specifically for the purpose of eating them, you would have had a point. We do, however - there is no biological need for us to hunt animals in the developed world anymore.
  15. Depends how it's taken. I'm not gonna harp on about how "DRUGS ARE EVIL!!!" because I don't believe in that, but that statement is just gross. You'd be pretty stupid to argue that taking Es every weekend is safer than someone who drinks the equivalent of one or two pints in the same timescale. Plus, I can see a drink of alcohol being served and I can see exactly what's going in it. If something dodgy's going on, I can have someone check it out for me. No chance of that with dealers. With alcohol, because you get drunk over a number of drinks, you can gain a more accurate picture of where to stop, while with drugs, it's often all in one shot, and you can't control whether too much is going in. Taking them both at the same time is definitely not the epitome of safe either, which I suspect is something a lot of people would do in a bar, unless it's one of the non-alcoholic ones (re: the real raves, not the fake ones where everyone goes to get wasted on alcohol).

Why was the Ike using Aether when he like <-----------------------------------------------> this far away from the edge?
  17. Most religions (including Christianity) are greatly misunderstood. Think how we feel. It's common in most aspects to judge a book by it's worst pages. Why restrict this to religion? Most ideologies are misunderstood by the common man. Think how I feel as a socialist being constantly linked to Stalinist Russia. Exactly. Which is why when you remove the vain "Stand up for yourself" macho attitude, the War on Terror is quite possibly the most ill-conceived idea of the 21st Century.
  18. Not really any good FPS on the DS, if I'm perfectly honest. I suppose you could say Metroid Prime. As for RPGs: The World Ends with You Pokémon D/P/Platinum (Future release) Animal Crossing: WW Final Fantasy: III/IV/XII And a whole cornucopia of others...

Not even Mr. Hacker could pull off this epic combo. I love Santi. 6jwYwtbQF-Q (It's a bit slow loading up)
  21. There's nothing wrong with that. We all have our tastes. What would be wrong is you going up to a fatter person and saying "You should lose weight or no one's ever gonna like you". Equally, it would be wrong to tell a thin person to fatten up. People should just learn to accept people for who they are, or else just don't bother commenting at all. Beauty is only skin deep and all that.
  22. My normal three-year old DS, with no extra jacket, has fallen from my 5" tall high bed about three times, as well being dropped a good dozen times after it just slipped through my hands. The most it has to show is a slightly damaged hinge, and the corner of the top screen's protector is starting to peel off. All of which is superficial and has no impact on how the thing works.
  23. That's strange, when you said this in your opening paragraph: If you step out of the "I must defend my country" stance, you'd actually realise there are far more terrorist organisations across the world than al-Qaeda. Some of them *shock* are even bigger. Some of them *shock* have no intentions of killing anyone. Some of them *bigger shock* have looked to America for fundraising. It is no hidden secret that American civilians bankrolled the IRA, and you have the audacity to come on here and tell me what terrorism is? You haven't a bloody clue about your country's relationship with terrorism. America only started caring when 9/11 happened, and it suddenly realised it could no longer go on without condemning those who disrupt the rule of law without suffering massive bad domestic and international reputation. It is also no hidden secret that the IRA only really came to heel after 9/11. The Good Friday Agreement before that was immensely fragile, given the tempestuous relationship between Sinn Fein and the DUP. I'm in no way suggesting America was ever pro-terrorist, but for what it's worth, it's only cared for 7 years. You coming on here and giving me a highly generalised image of your stereotypical terrorist? Ridiculous.
  24. First off, I don't personally feel it's acceptable to judge anyone based on first appearance. Regrettably, first appearances mean a lot and sometimes I think people have trouble just controlling how far that prejudice goes. I think your target in regards to sexual attraction towards skinny females is slightly misguided though (remember, girls can like girls as well, not just guys ;)). I personally am not attracted in the slightest to the 'perfect image' of a girl. It looks plastic to me, and it tells me nothing about what really matters on the inside. Actually, I lie - it tells me they're emotionally unstable, so have to appeal to popular culture in order to feel accepted. However, that's true of a good 95% of people. Few people in this world have the confidence to look at themselves and think, "I don't actually care about what others think of me. I like myself for who I am". I'd like to think I'm one of those few - having my own style and being different to everyone else is something that's immensely important to me. But I've seen people around me succumb so easily to what others feel. Friends being worried about their face, their hair colour, if we're being totally frank and mature, about breast sizes too. The fact is society has an image of the 'perfect person'. Some guys like that image, and that's their business. I'm not going to attack someone simply for liking their own image. We live in a world where that image is constantly bombarded onto us without us even realising. When I go to the supermarket in town, it's like the perfect example of Eugenics. All the till-workers are girls, jet black haired with highlights, around 5"8'. Every day, I look at the papers, and it's there with the Page 3 girls on the front cover. It's the people who seem to believe that everyone must conform to that image, and if you don't, you're either a social outcast, or you're just weird. Guys who pose on MySpace looking for blonde girls and whatnot, guys who spend their time trying to get their girlfriends to adopt that image just to please them. Those are the people you really need to be aiming this thread at. Fortunately, not many of those people are on Tip.It.
  25. Well, you say that, but I know I don't have that problem and I know about half my rational thinking mates don't have that problem either. Just like I don't blame all Americans for the current economic crisis; I blame the system, and the bankers who went drunk-crazy on Wall Street. I don't blame "chavs" for youth crime and teenage pregnancies; I blame the misinformed, careless idiots that participate, whatever their class status. I don't blame the Qu'ran for al-Qaeda; I blame the sick men who've twisted its common interpretation and formed an independent ideology of pure hatred from it under the banner of Islam. I don't believe vengeance is human nature. I believe the desire for justice and fairness is human nature, but I don't believe those necessarily manifest themselves in the form of hatred and vengeance.
