Anyone know what I'm talking about?
I believe all them funny symbols came about when we moved to the phpBB3 format. I think they're supposed to be hide tags. The hide tags developed after we switched over are not the same code as the hide tags before. Presumably, everything inside the hide tags got mushed up into those symbols too.

MTV Europe awards
Well if she's only eighth, why is she nominated? The Dark Side of the Moon alone has sold more than she has in her whole career. I voted Green Day. I'm not voting for someone from St. Helens. Sorry.

Dude spends 5 years to make a DS game = Bob's Game
Well, see, this is quite interesting. I'm not sure whether it can actually can be published as an official Nintendo-endorsed game. Nintendo's develop support program only covers companies who already develop games in a team, and who have specialised in certain key areas: I suppose he could publish it as an unofficial DS title - it's not like that's not happened to Nintendo before. I wouldn't get your hopes up on this being published on anything other than homebrew though, unless Nintendo relax the rules in this case.

Nintendo anounces DSi
That's only the interior camera. The exterior one is 3 megapixels. Given, that's not exactly overwhelming.

$700bn Wallstreet Bailout REJECTED
Silver bullet? No this is far from it, like I said it's far from desirable, but the alternative scenario that would occur if the bill is not passed needs to be avoided at almost all costs. Hopefully the bill being passed second time round will mean that it's in better shape when it's actually passed, but this is not the time or way to punish greedy bankers. Remember it's innocent shareholders who are hurt just as much as the risk takers when the value of their shares is wiped out such as with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. ...My heart bleeds. They knew the risks when they took out the shares. They go down as well as up. For the matter, I despise the shareholders who come on TV and whine about how they've lost their investments when a company goes bust, as though it's anyone else's fault but their own for taking that chance. On the other hand, there's a single parent struggling to make ends meet because they've defaulted on their mortgage, or because the price of utilities has shot up and there's no windfall tax (and those companies are making quite a few quid themselves too, by the way). Those are the people we genuinely need to be helping. A recession is coming. Many of these banks will go bust with or without a bail-out plan. The extent to which this bail-out will actually help is also in question. Remove all the ideological arguments of capitalism vs socialism; regulation vs free markets; democracy vs totalitarianism, and there's reason enough to question this Bill, or at least take a long time considering it (which is a luxury we don't have). Add those arguments, and we're in serious doubt. Frankly, we need money flowing around the banks. The problem is much of the money lies in the hands of the few. This is absolutely the right time to squeeze money out of them, pump it back in for liquidity, and set a precedent that this form of running an economy must never happen again.

$700bn Wallstreet Bailout REJECTED
I really don't think we should underestimate just how badly not only the world's financial sector but also many other industries will be hit if the bailout is rejected entirely. Once every large American bank starts failing (which they will) the stock market will crash further, millions of investors (average Joe's with a few shares) will lose their savings. Larger companies, Ford, General Motors might start going under taking thousands of jobs with them. And all for what? Some nicety about moral hazard? I don't see how you can think that the rest of the world's economies are so insulated from what would be the almost complete collapse of the financial sector. The bailout is currently the lesser of two evils. There is boom, there is bust. Bail-outs, tighter regulation, more stringent enforcement - they don't make one iota of difference to that basic rule. I support this Bill because I'm not naive enough to believe that if the world economy does suffer as a result of this Bill's rejection, that it won't be the poorest who are unfairly hit hardest. I hope this will soften the blow, albeit, the rich bastards that put us into this position will still get away with the millions they earned for their own irresponsibility. It is wrong to believe this is the "silver bullet" people are hoping for. Don't join the 'faith before facts' crowd.

Life plans/dreams after grade 12?
Good move. You'll be able to go in as an undergraduate for 4 years instead of 5 so you won't really lose any more time. Just watch out for finances though. You don't normally get government grants for a second degree. Might be an exception with Medicine but research it. :?

Your Environment...
I live in quite a populous area right in the heart of my city. Sadly, there's no real 'community spirit' here - that seems to have died with the closure of pubs since off-licensing came into place, and as society has evolved in all areas of the UK. That, and we've always been quite an introverted family anyway. A few students live here from the university in my city. It's also one of the most ethnic parts of the city, if not, the entire country. Just 50% label themselves Christian here, while 25% are Muslims, and around 5% are Hindu. It is also a source of immigration, mainly Eastern European. I love it here though. It makes a nice diverse atmosphere, and that was reflected at my primary school. Everyone gains an understanding of each other when we have to mingle with one another. As far as I know, there have few racially motived attacks here, although crime itself is slightly high on average with the rest of the UK. I would pin this more on poverty and a lack of economic opportunity, rather than race issues. Few elderly people live here. The homes here were built in Edwardian Britain, are mainly terraced, with a mix of council houses, and are easily below £100K in worth, which seems to attract young families.

Jagex Attempting to Stop Monopolies?
Welcome to the cycle of authoritarianism. Organisation puts down limits, people find way around limits; Organisation puts down tighter limits, people find way around limits; Organisation puts down tighter limits, people find way around limits...

Inability to pay tax =/= lower classes. Another misuse of the term "middle class". You are only part of the middle class when you no longer have to work in order to live. People in the middle classes are typically successful business owners and chief executives. Above all else, basic social economics should tell you 75% of a population cannot be part of a middle class, as that would leave only ~20% to work for them. Even if you take one business to one worker, that still leaves over half of them without any at all.

Well, that was easy. Nice to see Berbatov finally opening his scoring account, and Rooney continuing from the weekend. In reality, we should have buried at least five.

I like this conversation. This proves the need for building societies to remain exactly that, instead of the Tories solution of allowing them to "demutualise" into banks and putting themselves into financial impossibility (re: Bradford & Bingley - yeah, I bet they wanna work with Labour on that one). If you wanna solve the problem of debt, don't force everyone to take a bank account with an overdraft limit, and don't allow them to take out money they simply do not have, or take out mortgages they cannot repay. Building societies ensure both.

New Nintendo DS for Japan announced by Nintendo
Depends on the size. I need a new DS, and I've been thinking of a black Lite for its sweet design and backlight. I have an iPod, I have a camera phone, I even have a digital camera already. I don't need all this on my DS too.

Yep, let's blame all "social breakdown" on chavs. A bit of scapegoating never hurt anyone.

To the Tip.It Crew, who will no doubt search for a formula to these limits against Quest Points earned, I don't think there is one. Judge for yourself: [hide=][/hide]

Next skill that's officially been killed - Prayer
pretty much said it all :) It has made a once respectable skill that required numerous clicks even easier, that is the point being made, not how I feel. and ginger jagex has already made it so that you don't have to waste time talking, The Gilded Altar has been the best way (by a country mile) of training Prayer ever since the Construction update came out some... 3ish (?) years ago. The ectofuntus temple has nothing to do with the Gilded Altar, and thus, has not made the skill easier. Clicking is not a skill. I'm sorry, you're just not convincing me there's any skill involved there. If you wanna look at what's killed Prayer, look at the Gilded Altar, look at the increases in xp, look at the fact you can earn millions of GP an hour in this game, and look at the availability of Dragon Bones in the market.

Why do they have to hit bottom to recover? You don't seem to understand the bailout. The bailout will allow the banks to confidently invest again, then allowing them to take in more loans, which will allow them to loan people money to buy houses, thus, solving the housing crisis. You don't seem to understand real estate either. This is a great time to buy real estate, just not sell. Similar to it's a great time to buy stocks, just not sell them. You're making some pretty bold assumptions there. Who says this will actually restore confidence enough to avoid a depression? I'm looking at the stock markets at the London Stock Exchange now and I'm seeing frankly irreparable damage to confidence in the banking world. Would $700B (or lower, as it will now be for a re-vote later this week) actually restore that confidence enough?

American Terrorists
Yeah, I got that, and the statement applies to many other governments too. The point I'm making is that terrorism is not always related to guerrilla warfare. Nor is it necessarily with the intention of killing or injuring anyone, let alone civilians. Some of the IRA's most successful campaigns were targeting the railway lines. No one died, but people couldn't get to work and it was a general nuisance. Terrorism is exactly what it says on the tin - the spread of terror for political or religious motives.

God Dammit Cancer
My mum had cancer (I can't remember which, I was tiny - I think ovarian). Thankfully it was diagnosed early and it was removed with laser surgery. It still made her weak though and she never truly recovered to full health after. It is an awful disease.

Bailout, American economy, and failing businesses
I said conservatives, not Republicans/Democrats. Your aimless titfortat on this thread shows what the real underlying cause for the rejection of this Bill is. The real issue here is not Republicans vs. Democrats, or she said this and he said that; it's the simple matter of a general election coming up in a month's time, and congressmen don't want to have to go home and say, "Well, we could have saved spending your taxpayers money, but we decided not to. Vote for me again please!"

Smash Club.
You do know ISPs have an impact on connectivity, don't you? That's why I can face Caxis with near no lag at all, and Crazy with enough lag for him to go literally crazy in frustration [1]despite being on the same connection. [1] = or fall back on rules which don't actually exist.

Huge thanks to Abelmisi, and all the other mods, who put the effort needed to maintain this thread initially. Also, in FC's, you might wanna note the Brawl Club also contains the Friend Code's of active TIF Brawlers. There's no tourneys going on for a while either.

Good games for the Wii?
Microsoft bought Rareware years ago. Since then, they've not allowed any releases onto anything other than the Xbox, apart from the NDS.
