I guess it has a lot to do with where you are cause my theater checked both at the ticket counter and when I went into the theater. You have no reason to be annoyed. You were expecting to be rejected, and it was your fault for even trying without a solid backup plan (if Bond was sold out)
  2. Saw some youtube video. Kinda relates to this. In one part, an asian kid has about 10 classes I think, gets A's in all but english, which he had a B+ in. Then his mother goes on about punishment for B+ and concludes with... (warning might be a bit racist to some people) "Timeout? No you don't deserve a timeout. That's what white people do. Back in Asia, we have something called knockout." Haha, knockout hella funny, but don't think he deserves a knockout for one B+ though... Well, some kids just need a beating You do realize that movie was a joke? Well from what I read, from your brother's point of view, he said his dad "promised" he would watch the dvd with him, no one mentioned when, so the promise wasn't really broken. But... if you make a promise you should keep it. Many times parents promise something, forget, reminded by child, forget again because there are no consequences. If the dad really did break the exact "promise", he should really think about what he can and cannot keep. The "stealing the adaptor after calling your dad an idiot" was a bit too much I think. Uh, it was watching a movie, I'm sure something like that could wait an hour if the kid really wanted to watch it with his dad.

Yeah I watch and I like it a lot (I only watch the anime though, don't read the manga). Unlike Naruto, the filler series to me is actually pretty good. I thought the series got really interesting around episode 25 or so, so you're in for a treat if you're already hooked. I just hope you're watching the Japanese version, not the English.
  4. I mostly just watch sports and the occasional tv series (like lost) and I can see a HUGE difference between normal and HD. I've become sort of spoiled with it and find it annoying to watch a normal channel on a big screen (smaller screens don't matter to me as much). Even the sound quality on HDTVs is better than normal channels; I am able to get all the normal local channels + a few others (TNT, WB, Discovery, and a few others) on HD so I think it's really worth it. To some people saying they can't tell the difference, when you're on a HD channel, it does not always mean the show is being broadcasted in HDTV, so there will be a very very small difference in picture quality. You'll notice when you see HD if you're watching sports though.

Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinions, you three clearly do not know the first thing about the mindset of someone who commits suicide. It is not just the feeling of wanting to be free, or of sadness, it is the feeling of being completely trapped and not being able to talk to anybody about your problems. Most suicides occur in men, and most of those in young men. This is because young men are the worst at communicating and discussing their problems. They bottle it up until they cannot cope. It is not a matter of being weak, or cowardly or selfish, it is a matter of sheer desperation, something which I doubt you, or many people have experienced. People used to be prosecuted if they tried to commit suicide and failed, because it was seen as a sin and something that the person ought to be made to pay for. Nowadays the human mind is understood better and psychologists have realized that these people need help, not punishing more. Can't you three take the same view? For the first bolded part, isn't committing suicide taking away the 'trapped' feeling? Getting rid of the need to talk to people, cause frankly, once you're dead, you can't really talk. I think you might've misinterpreted my post. By no means did I want to punish suicide-prone people. Helping them out and preventing it from occurring would be the most ideal situation. However, I still believe that it's selfish of them to commit suicide without regarding the feelings of those who care about them. They may not think it's a selfish act, but it really is. Many parents spend years and years nurturing a child, spending so much of their time and putting through the effort is order to support them. Just to think that after 17 or 18 years of all this, establishing the relationship and the happiness and joy of having this child, the love and all, would be wasted because that kid decided to commit suicide. Somewhere out there, each person has somewhere that cares about them. A lot of the people who think the contrary are looking at the negative moments with parents, friends, teachers, and such, and not at the portrayal of affection that has occurred in the past. Death is definitely one of the hardest things to cope with, but killing yourself over something like that is the last thing you should do cause it only leads to more suffering. I don't find suicide cowardly, I just think it's just a inconsiderate thing to do to those that have sacrificed so much for you, and care about you dearly.

I honestly think that people that commit suicide are selfish. While they try and escape their lives, they cause pain and suffering to those that cared for and about them. to dark_ice - you talk about how much pain you went through with your dad dying, now just think of the pain you'd inflict on those who cared about you if you chose to commit suicide.
  7. Driving in bad weather depends a lot more on the drivers ability rather than the vehicle. Last winter when the roads were covered in snow, before even the interstate was all that clear, I made it to work just fine in my little Chevy Cavilier. I have about 10 minutes of country road driving, which involves a lot of twists and turns and hills, about 10 minutes of interstate driving, which was still had a snow on it, and about 10 minutes of city driving, which involves a lot of stopping and starting. I made it to work just fine. On the way to work I remember seeing a few vehicles on the side of the interstate and in the medium. I remember two SUVs, at least. I remembered these because of people saying how much better they are in the snow. It took me longer to get to work than the normal half hour because I drove cautiously, and I made it there just fine. Maybe they do help somewhat. The most important part is still the driver. I understand and agree with you on the point of the driver playing a large role in driving in such conditions, and I just realized that the main issue here isn't necessarily driving conditions when it comes to cities (I don't think London has the same types of roads I have here). My driveway for my house is a pretty steep hill, and when it snows/ices, the only car that is able to get up it easily without slipping back down halfway is the SUV, which is what i mostly put the basis on. When it comes to the real road, I think that extra bit of protection/assistance given with an SUV is enough if it means something between life and death in harsh weather conditions.
  8. There also tends to be the weather factor which contributes to the justification of having a SUV. Where I am, roads are very windy in some areas, and then we get snow/ice every year during the winter, and a SUV is really helpful for both traction and getting through these places (granted, I think some AWD sedans can do it too, but suvs are usually more powerful so it's easier to go up a hill).
  9. - clip - Wow. That's what I'm saying you moron. I AM ONLY 14 I turn 15 in a month, I'm saying I don't need other people my age to tell me what to do. I didn't say "an F" I have a few actually. I'm getting mad because you people are assuming that I'm an idiot. No, I'm not. I don't try, because I don't care. How am I related to nad? Hah. I laughed at that..I'm nothing like my parents idiot, I'm a little bit like my brother...but then again we are totally different to. I guess you are the dumb one if you think I have to be the same as my brother just to make him my brother. If you don't value the opinions of those your age, then you have no hope whatsoever. They're at the same point in life as you, so they know exactly what you're going through which people older (which include many of the so called 'at most 15 year olds' that posted things for you) aren't, however they still have been there and done that, so their input is just as important. In regards to the relation comment, you're just making a bigger fool of yourself. Two people who are related by blood, same parents, inheriting different variations of genes from the same source, only a few years apart in age (which means you guys must interact pretty often) and being in the same living environment, and you expect to be completely different. Wow, that makes sense. Whatever, I'm done arguing, nothing seems to get through that thick skull of yours. You say you're not dumb, just a lazy person with a terrible work ethic, well do us a favor and prove it.
  10. hahaha oh wow, this is hilarious. First you come, flaunting your failure, making yourself sound like some toughass, "im gonna enjoy my life maaaan, highschool is all partyy, i dont caree about school or my grades" seriously, you're the one that needs to grow up around here. You then say that people make assumptions on how you are in real life. See, this is where you make yourself appear stupid, simply because you act like it. You blatantly tell us your outlook on school and your future and all that great stuff, and then when we comment on it, you flip out and say we're making assumptions. Ok buddy, whatever you say. Make up your mind when you tell your exaggerated stories, you say you get F's, now you're saying you only got "an F". Alright, good for you, people are trying to at least make your life somewhat easier in the future, and then you criticize these "at most 15 year olds" (when you're only 14 yourself). If you start out with a crappy attitude, expect a crappy response. Jesus Christ, how are you even related to Nad.
  11. Don't worry sam, it'll bite 'ye in the arse when your older. Oh well, Guess some people need to learn it for themselves huh? Anyways, as far as the origional topic goes, I currently have no clue what my grades are. All I know is i'm not doing "satisfactory (d or f) in Alg and my 2D design class". I'll see what happens in the end of the semester. to anyone who hasen't realized, YATM=my little brother. You should probably set him straight before he ends up living in your basement.
  12. I don't even study. 9th grade Uh, unless AP for you stands for something else, I really doubt that you're taking any APs at all, especially in the 9th grade. Algebra II isn't offered at the advanced level cause it's...well...algebra II AP stands for 'Advanced Placement.' Algebra II is normally a Sophomore class, but it is offered to Freshmen who took Algebra I early last year. Every school I've been at does that. Alg. II is kinda sorta advanced because I am taking it when a lot of people are in Alg. I. See where I am, AP (which also means Advanced Placement) is a college-level course with an exam towards the end of the year which can get you college credit depending on your score. Algebra II is not a college-level course cause it's simple math. Also, I think the order may be different in math where you are from other schools, cause instead of Algebra --> Algebra II we have Algebra --> Geometry --> Algebra II. Simply put, I think your classes are honors/gifted, not AP
  13. I don't even study. 9th grade Uh, unless AP for you stands for something else, I really doubt that you're taking any APs at all, especially in the 9th grade. Algebra II isn't offered at the advanced level cause it's...well...algebra II

So you're blaming yourself then? i knew that was coming but i didnt expect it from some kid who is just trying to be funny and has probably never even posted on the same topic as me prior to this one Oh don't worry, I've posted on many of the same posts as you, and have read many of your posts around the forums recently. Doesn't mean this is my first name here ya know ;)

    So you're blaming yourself then?
  16. calling us fools with your attitude on grades is very ironic. sure you have more semesters to pull it up...but an F counts as a 0...and you need certain courses to graduate = summer school to make it all up which = less of that fun you talk about Lol buddy, I still got time to pull them up. An f doesn't count as a 0..I live in america..Where do you live? What do you mean 0. This is dumb I'm done argueing about this. I do what I please mmk? I don't need people I don't know on the internet to lecture me about the way I live my life. If you're gonna pride yourself off your failures, expect a response; you'll look back on this when you start applying for colleges (and realize how limited your choices will be) and kick yourself in the [wagon] for it. In order to be successful in something like skateboarding, you're gonna need to be the best of the best, so have fun with that.
  17. Rockin' by Alphazone the original mix
  18. (sorry about the utubing, but I dunno how else to show you guys ) The second/prominent song in the video. I've been trying to find it but trance songs are harder when there aren't any words. The comments also didn't help in it either. If anyone knows the song or knows a place where I can find out (like a forum that has people that can identify it) I'd really appreciate it :). Edit: found it.
  19. Hooray, it's fixed now :D. I think I just needed to clear my cache/cookies (I thought clearing private data would do so, but I guess not >.>; I just did it manually). Now the images load fine. Thanks both of you for your help! Edit: Oh dear, I spoke too soon. Tip.it is fixed but sites like espn still have that problem
  20. Tried to disable google web accelerator, problem still persists. Opera works fine, however I don't feel comfortable with it so I would rather use Firefox over it. Made a new profile, problem still there, im gonna try and find if there's programs that may be interfering. Thanks for your help, I'll keep trying other things to maybe fix it.
  21. In the last couple of days I've been having problems with Firefox for some reason. I downloaded the new FF2, and this problem arose several days later, so I am not sure if it's a FF2 problem or not. Many images/sites aren't loading correctly and it gets annoying after a while. Incorrect loading of site. Pictures not showing up The only add-on I have installed is the google accelerator, and I've had it for a very long time so I know that's not it. Also when i log into places such as Tip.it or other sites (yahoo, etc.) for some reason I get logged out repeatedly and am required to constantly log in even if I say to remember that I am logged in and stuff. If anyone knows a solution for this, tell me, it's much appreciated.
  22. True, and that's why I try not to eat as much of that as I used to. Also, I'm not even going to bother argueing about this anymore. So far this a a forum full of gamers vs Issy and me. It's probably because he's asking for what game he should buy, not how he should become a humanitarian and make everyone feel better.
  23. But why do you hate it? Making up for all those years of those people being oppressed? It's unfair, we had a discussion on it. It's not right to judge people based on race or sex. It should be based on your intelligence, your work ethic, etc... And as far as making up for all those years. I'm not to blaim for slavery, I wasn't personally there. My ancestors came to America slightly after WWII from Germany. I live in the north, segregation wasn't huge there. Why blaim all white people for the mistakes of their ancestors. Blaim the responsables ancestors, or blaim the ones alive that were there and did something. I hate when people use that arguement! It's reverse discrimination. I hate when people like you make it all about YOU, as if affirmative action ever blamed anyone for anything. No one ever said this was someone's fault, you did. Uh, why is affirmative action there to begin with? To benefit for past discriminations against minorities, or to give them the opportunity due to a lesser environment conducive to learning? I don't see how it's hard to take away the race aspect of it all, and replace it with economy and their conditions. Picking someone for a school or job doesn't happen in 10 seconds, you need to take in all the factors, which includes how they have been disadvantaged, and race in itself isn't one; it's their ENVIRONMENT. Promotes diversity? Nullify a bosses power to choose employees based on certain characteristics? Ok you're right it does do those things. But does it do these? Giving jobs to more qualified people, even if they're majority race. Promote effectiveness in tasks done by people who got in because of their race, but are unqualified? So let's say Harvard was getting ready to accept applications. Hypothetically: On one hand, you have an African American, 4.5 GPA average, President of his/her school, on the Crew team, and spent over 500 hours doing volunteer work. Let's say on another hand you have an Asians, 4.0 GPA, President of his/her homeroom, and spent only about 300 hours doing community service, but was one of the best to enroll. Harvard, in a way, must meet a race balance or risk being called a "racist school" even though they might not be. They are short on Asian students, and have a lot of African Americans. So then to not be called racist for having a low amount of Asians, they give the Asian student a little leeway (although in real life it might not be "that" much of a difference) It's better to play a smaller role than that of a bigger one. Tell me what's worse, a business with only 3 different races(just an example, could be more or less) that can achieve the task set on-hand and more. OR A group with one of every single race (improbable but not impossible), but some are underqualified for the job but were the highest in their racial class. I'd pick the second. The only problem with this is that you make it sound as if if you're a certain race, you're automatically on a set limit of intelligence. Just because you're black, doesn't mean you can't achieve the same intelligence as an Asian or a white person, it's all about the person's culture/background which contributes to their working atmosphere, and as a result how much effort they put into their education. Sure, the guy is the best Asian that applied, but that doesn't automatically mean that they're qualified for the job/admission. If there was someone that was a complete idiot, but they were the "best of their kind", would you hire them over someone that you know would actually contribute to the working environment, despite there being many people like them? It just doesn't make sense to me.
  24. You missed the post that started the whole thing
  25. See, the difference between what occurred in your mother's situation and what's occurring in schools nowadays are different IMHO. Where I am, people are fairly well off, and thus the economic hardships that many black people face in other areas isn't relevant. As a result, I believe that they should be judged with the same expectations as any other student be cause really, they haven't had anything weighing down on them. In your story, the woman was not even given a chance; she was simply tossed into the no interview pile based off her name solely. To solve the issue, I believe that the concept of Affirmative Action should be based upon economic/living conditions where AREAS instead of race would be the supporting factor in giving lee-way to students that aren't necessarily scoring to expectations.
