Where do you f2p'ers train?
I basically trained from lv 50-some to lv 78 (in rsc; in rs2 I became lv 80 because the levelling system was completely overhauled) on guards in Varrock palace, which was about 20k xp max at the time (don't know the current xp). From lv 80 (in rs2, I was 78 in rsc) I trained on moss giants in lv 38-some wild until I was lv 97, and then I quit RS for a year :-$ . When I came back two months ago I started training on ice giants in lv 48-some wild, and have trained there ever since. It's decent xp (both for meelee skills and prayer, but sadly many people seem to neglect the latter), decent drops, and you never know when you might encounter the poor soul who thinks he can take you on ;). ~Mardvk

why do some peole use the same world no matter what?
People like a little certainty in life. I've never played on any world except world 12 in RSC, but sadly, with the coming of RS2 world 12 became members. Ever since then I've been homeless . ~Mardvk

when did you make your first million?
I believe it must have been back in the days of yore, in RSC in 2003, presumably somewhere along the lines of level 50 - 55. I made it through a variety of methods, which would include most prominently mining thousands of coal ores and fishing thousands of raw lobsters and selling those for cash. Man, it certainly was a pain certificating them all. I can only imagine the nightmares my buyers must have gone through ;). ~Mardvk

What's your favourite skill?
In case you couldn't guess, it's mining :). It's one of the few skills that actually hasn't changed much since RSC (as in: it hasn't been overly simplified unlike smithing, cooking and crafting with "cook x" options) and is still one of the more difficult f2p skills to level - and as such likely to give you RSI due to the large amount of clicking involved, but that's not a good thing, is it ;). ~Mardvk

rares
I'm afraid I'm not entirely up to par with the current prices of discontinued items, but I believe santa hats would indeed be the cheapest wearable items at roughly a little over 10 mill (11 - 12 mill?). Halloween masks would vary around or above 50 mill (50 - 75 mill?), while all party hats are over 100 mill (with the most expensive ones at a few hundreds of millions). Please take in mind that these prices are extremely vague to begin with and are only ment as a general indication of the price range; the actual prices will vary according to the "nature" of the discontinued rare items (for example: blue party hat is more expensive than green party hat). I haven't got the slightest clue as to the current prices of non-wearable discontinued items such as pumpkins or easter eggs, so I won't attempt to guess here. I hope I was able to be of help. Happy hunting, ~Mardvk

99 Cooking, f2p
Short answer: For f2p, lobsters would be most cost-efficient. Long answer: It is true that swordfish give more xp per single unit cooked, but as you say; they are also much harder to obtain in larger quantities (especially sufficient quantities to take you all the way to 99). Taken into account this scarcity of sufficient quantities it would be much faster to use lobsters, as these are usually available in fairly large quantities at once. Using swordfish might also prove to be a whole lot more expensive, but I'm not up to par with the current buying-selling prices of swordfish; so you might value a second opinion on that one. As other people in this thread have rightfully stated you might be able to stike it even between buying/selling prices for lobtsers (buying raw 250 and selling cooked 250), but that might take a while, and if you're in a hurry might not be worth the trouble. Have fun attaining cooking 99 ;). ~Mardvk

Would You change your Rs Main Username if you could?/\/\/\
It's not that i'm not happy with my current username, but, if possible, I would like to change my name to "Marduk Kurios", the name I wanted in the first place when I started playing ("Kurios" is Greek for "Lord" or "God"). Sadly, it's a thirteen digit name, which means I had to settle for "Marduk God" and currently wouldn't be able to change it anyway. I suppose it could be worse  . ~Mardvk

mining line
I don't mean to go all "Mr. wise-guy" on you here, but isn't that exactly what they did with skills as smelting/smithing, cooking, crafting and whatnot? I mean, the "cook x" and similar functions also imply that I only have to click a few times and then can "go get a drink" :?. It wasn't like that in RSC (but let's not go there). I'm not a fan of the basic idea either, though. It sounds it will make mining easier (you can pre-click 25 times or so and then watch your char to the work as someone here said before, whereas now you have to click every single rock in turn), and to be quite honest mining isn't already the hardest skill to begin with... ~Mardvk

The Falidore Massacre
Hello, Try not to generalise, especially when it's only based on your own rather biased opinion. Also, there is no need to call someone a blatant liar for no apparent reason other than that you do not agree with them  . Not everyone is so weak-minded they have to give in to every single thing that comes across their mind. I can tell you that I wouldn't have went on a rampage just because I had the chance. How? By remembering that I'm not the only one playing this game, and that there are others as well. Fun is good, but not at the expense of others, and that's what Durial probably "forgot". Of course I would have been tempted to do so, as would have been anyone. However, there is a big difference between being tempted and actually following up on that temptation. Take a guess why I haven't massacred anyone recently. I agree that he's just a normal human being. He's probably an average teenager, who doesn't really think about the consequences before he acts, as do so many his age. However, that doesn't justify what he did, nor does it justify the fact that people seem to go out of their way to make up the most incredible excuses ("everyone would have done it") for his actions. He was at fault, he knows he was at fault, and he will reap the consequences. The Nazi's were only human too, after all. But does that make up for their actions? I surely think not. ~Mardvk

a durial321 interview (attack abuse bug)
I can't really be angry with him, since he's obviously some immature kid who things he's acting cool and doesn't know any better. Sadly, he's not the only one out there, taken from the many "positive" replies of the mindless masses. "Oh, you're my hero!" What I am angry about, however, is the sheer amount of people trying to make up downright stupid excuses for what he did. I can assure you that most certainly not everybody would have acted as he did under the circumstances. I can think of at least one person who wouldn't have acted that way: me; and I know many others who wouldn't have either. So please, stop generalising and stop trying to make up excuses for what happened. He was at fault, he knows he was at fault, and he will reap the consequences of his actions. Fun is nice, but not at the expense of others. That's what many people don't seem to realise (from which I can only conclude they're not mature enough). Some people should really think before they post something (this wasn't directed against anyone in general, but I do put serious questionmarks as to the maturity of someone who calls Durial123 his "hero"). As for everyone claiming this is as big as the "big ol' p hat dupe of yore", that's simply not true. The sole reason this is as "big" as it is now (and I assure you it isn't all that big to begin with) is because everyone is talking about it. It's quickly becoming a self-fulfulling prophecy: the events themselves are hardly "legendary", but just because so many people are talking about it being "legendary" in a way makes it "legendary". Most people who make unsubstantiated claims it's as big as the p hat dupe weren't even around when that happened anyway, so they don't have a foot to stand on. Yes, these are uncommon events that won't be easily forgotten and will probably continue to function as the focus-point of attention for some time to come, but that's all. Unless, of course, the mindless masses get their way (which they have a tendancy of doing)... ~Mardvk

The Doomsday Massacre
I agree that it's a fairly well-written story, but the point of the thread continues to elude me. Do you wish for a discussion to take place about it, or merely to inform people? Pertaining to the contents: this seems to becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy rather quickly. It isn't nearly as "legendary" as the p hat dupe back in RSC in fall 2003, but it's getting hoaxed up just because everyone is saying it is  . I doubt most people who are claiming something like that were even around when the p hat duping occured... ~Mardvk

what items have you had the longest?
I lost the account I started playing with in early 2002, but on my current main account (started end of februari 2003) the item's I've had the longest would probably be: -my rune pickaxe (bought the day they were implemented, I can still remember the huge crowds standing around in the dwarven mines trying to get their hands on one). It's of great sentimental value too, seeing I used it to get 60 (mining guild), 85 (rune) and 90 (current level) mining. Between breaking it dozens and dozens of times and nearly losing it in the wilderness a couple of times; it's still the only pickaxe I use. I would still have my sleeping bag as well, if only they had been transferred to RS2 as well :(. -the hammer and tinderbox from Tutorial Island (although finding them back is nigh impossible seeing I collected hammers and tinderboxes as a newb back in RSC and I currently have dozens of them in my bank). -The very first r2h I ever bought. -my bunny ears and scythe (Easter and Halloween 2004), although those aren't very usefull, they're good for showing off. ("What's that on your head? Is it a members item? Etc.") ~Mardvk

|~PETITION~| more bank-space for free version of runescape!!
The point for f2p not having "enough" (though one can debate as to what would would be "enough") is precisely so this would be an (additional) incentive become member. While I, as a medium level pure f2p, agree that a few additional bankspaces would be nice, I don't see them as an absolute necessity. They form only a minor inconvenience that can be easily resolved if you're a little creative with the provided bankspace. Make no mistake; I too have experienced difficulties with the limited provided bankspace (especially since I'm a skilltotaller and as such "require" many different items), but I managed to get by so far, and I'm sure I will continue to do so. Of course, it requires flexibility and the ability to make a selective choice of the items you wish to keep. I, for example, had no other option but to throw away my untradable "fun items", such as: bunny ears, scythe and whatnot, in order to squeeze everything into my bank. Taking this reasoning into account; I'm afraid I won't sign your petition. Kinds regards, ~Mardvk

A little help would be useful!
Would they perhaps mean these? They can be found at the runescape main site, just scroll down and you'll see them in the left column, near the bottom of the page. ~Mardvk

New mining experience idea.
I fully agree with Bauke. Mining is one of the few remaining skills where one actually has to put in an honest effort in order to gain high levels. Most other skills nowadays seem to have the "auto" option (cook x, smelt x, craft x,...), which kinda takes away the satisfaction you get from gaining higher levels. While I agree with the topic author that mining isn't as easy as most other skills (though I personally wouldn't qualify it as hard), I believe that's exactly where the satisfaction comes from. I like it that way and would hate to see mining made "easier". If anything, I would like to see it made harder! I remember when, in the early days of rs2, crafting was hard in f2p (in f2p silver symbols was the best way to gain crafting xp, but you had to click and craft every single bar seperately), and getting 70 crafting was considered an achievement. I got 70 crafting the hard way when only a couple thousand people (and perhaps not even that many) had 70 crafting. After a while they made crafting much easier (by implementing the "craft x" option). And now almost 20k people have 70 crafting, and it isn't even an achievement anymore. Of course the topic author isn't suggesting a "mine x" implementation, but I believe the general idea (to make mining easier) is the same. I would hate to see that happen, as it would pretty much ruin the fun of having a high mining lv. ~Mardvk

Addy rock
While the higher level rocks such as adamantite and runite take several minutes to respawn in optimal circumstances, the average respawn time of any type of rock, be it iron, coal, adamantite or runite; is influenced by the number of players currently in that world. In general, the more players that are in a world at the time the adamantite is mined, the faster it will respawn. It has been quite a while since I last mined adamantite, but if I recall it right, it takes about 5 minutes to respawn when there are roughly 1000 people in a world. I'm not entirely sure on this information so you might value a second opinion; but I hope it helps. Kind regards, ~Mardvk

About being banned...
One year ago, a good (p2p) friend of mine was approached by a lower level player which asked him for advice on some quest. Since my friend didn't have the time to guide this lower level player through it all, he directed him to this very helpfull site (tip.it). For some non-apparent reason he was thereby reported by someone for advertising inappropriate websites and was temporarily banned. He sent in a ban appeal, which was answered after 2 to 3 days, after which his account was unbanned. The moral of the story: people report you for the darndest things. If what you say is true, and you have explained yourself thoroughly enough in your ban appeal (which I take is the case); it should be clear to Jagex that you were not in fault here. They will get back to you as soon as possible, which may take a few days though. I sincirely hope you get your account back as soon as possible. Kind regards, ~Mardvk

The worth of noncombat.
Most of the ppl that only train combat tend to think they've got something going for them. "Whoop die doo, I'm lv 100 combat with a whopping 5 mill total xp as a member. I own you, lv 97". Pathetic. Since combat is comprised of the easiest skills ever (with the exepction of prayer, magic and ranged), I tend to turn away from it. To distantiate myself from the ppl above I train skill total. ~Mardvk

They should have a "free members day"
Yes, I couldn't agree more. If you want something, you have to pay for it.; that's just how the world works nowadays. I made the post for two reasons: 1) Most members tend to generalize f2p'ers as greedy a-holes. That's just not true, as I have proven in my previous post. There are extending circumstances that prevent ppl from getting members. Of course, that does not excuse them to go expecting member stuff for free, as that would simply be hypocritical. 2) - and this is not directed against everyone here, but against those who recognise themselves in my description - I'm kinda fed up with those f2p'ers that constantly whine for free stuff whilst expecting not having to pay for it. However, I'm equally fed up with those p2p "pro's" ( ) that constantly whine about "f2p noobs wanting free stuff" when there really is no reason to go say that. Obviously, this was an honest suggestion and how good or bad as it may be, it was never intended to "whine about getting things for free for f2p". And yet, as soon as some ppl even read the post, they made the decision for themselves that "it just had to be one of them f2p noobs wanting free stuff". ~Mardvk

They should have a "free members day"
Lol. When I read the first post, I thought it was an honest suggestion (that should be replied by honest answers), not a thread to invite all those EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL ( ) p2p'ers out there to come here and whine their cabbages off about f2p that shouldn't get anything because they don't pay for it... This is the best laugh I have had in ages. I agree with you that, if f2p'ers want something, they should become p2p, but putting it like this is just cabbage. Let me explain to you why I myself refuse to become p2p: 1) I don't have nearly as much "free" (don't mind the pun  ) time on my hands to become members, as much as I'd like to. I am in college right now, and I can play about 2 hours during the week, and maybe 4 during the weekends. Now, you can say what you want, but I want my money's worth if I am to become members (which I would not get now). 2) I find f2p far more of a challenge to me. I can assure you that there are thousands more that feel the same way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As for the idea, I myself find that it would do no good; it would only "damage" p2p'ers (as has been mentioned by some). Furthermore, I find that there is already enough of an incentive to become members. ~Mardvk P.S. This post is not directed at anyone in particular, but is ment for the general public. And, of course, no flaming intended. Have a nice day.

Put a level cap on F2p
Taken into account that there are like 30k topics in this place, can you blame them? First of all, its funny to see this old thing is still around. Or is it a new post with an old title? Who knows. Anyway, the fact is, without f2p there wouldn't be p2p. Whereas f2p can be regarded as a "demo" of RS, p2p can be regarded as the full game. There are some glitches in the comparison, but in general, that's how you might put it. And be carefull with them generalisations. It's not 'cause we're not p2p that we don't have ambitions in that direction. Some of us actually don't have time to spend hours a day on RS (hey, one has to get his money's worth!), so spending 5 bucks a month on a game you play like five hours a week (weekend, gotta love it) seems rather foolish, and there are many ppl whose parents won't allow their offspring to pay for an online game - somewhere understandable. And now let 's get this thing locked, lol. ~Mardvk

Put a level cap on F2p
Have you ever cared to take into consideration that there might be other things that prevent people from becoming p2p besides the sheer unwillingness to pay for a cartoon game? For instance: Some parent are rather... conservative, and don't trust the internet. Thus, their offspring are forbidden to pay to play. If by one of your previous posts you insinuated that those unfortunate souls should try to get it behind their parents' backs, your wrong. I, for one, will never lie and deceit to be able to play a cartoon game to the fullest. However, you are right that there is ample opportunity to do so. Some people are willing to pay by creditcard only. For those people, the sheer unavailability of many creditcards is very frustrating, and it prevents them from becoming p2p. Again, this in itself is not a reason not to become p2p, since there are plenty of alternatives. You joke about it, but there still are people to whom 5 bucks a month is an investment they cannot afford. I am thinking of certain students, who have to turn every penny in order to make a living. There are also many ppl who simply cannot afford to spend hours behing a screen playing an online game. Most ppl tend to have jobs and extracurricular activities, and when they do have some time to themselves, they must spend it on doing some "basic stuff', like cleaning the house, cooking, ... There isn't all that much time left to play once you're finally done. There is also a certain number of players, like me, that has decided to never take up membership. This, not because of some technical problem, but from principles. I have pretty decent stats as a f2p, although I'm certainly nothing to brag about, but i have decided to remain f2p for as long as possible. I will never say never, but the chance that I will become member in the future is slim. As some ppl have mentioned before, here you're someone if you have decent stats/skills. When you're member, being someone is/can be a lot harder. Not to mention any of the thousands of remaining problems... I'm sorry if my opinion is taken offensive by some ppl, this is just how I see it, and I believe, with me, many others.

Coolest RuneScape Names
Personally I find my name cool (I say this because I've heard thousands of players saying they hate their name). I once saw barbarian as well back when Iwas a noob... I used to ponder why i couldn't attack this particular barbarian :P The coolest in-game names I've seen so far ar G O D and Panzer Pure. I like Panzer Pure coz it makes me think on a tank on legs :D.
