Tip.It Times Presents: Guthix Skiller
I don't undertand why so many people are slating this article and the view it portrays. Since level 3 I have always tried to be self sufficient and supply my own needs. Having played classic, I made a new character when I came back to RS last year and made myself a vow that I would always put any money I earned into skills, and not buy flashy clothes or treasure trail items. I haven't quite stuck to that so far, but it still remains in my morals. The first skill I trained other than combat was probably Mining, you only need a pickaxe, and you're all set. I mined 5k iron ore for later use. I made a plan to smelt that iron ore, smith into knives and use to train my range. I also completed the Shilo Village quest to mine my own rubies and make my own rings of forging. I eventually made my 25k iron knives and still have 5k left. A project I started from level 40 combat has netted me 80 Range, and being self sufficient makes me value skills more. I try to maintain a decent skill total for my combat level, my main goal at the moment being 60+ in all skills and 1600 total before 95 combat. I don't go emo if I gain a combat level though, as combat adds to your overall character potential also. I'm not as extreme as you however, when it comes to gathering my own materials, I will mine my own gold to smelt for smithing levels, cut my own wood for fletching (most of the time), thieve my own gems for crafting and kill my monsters for my seeds. Before I wanted to buy 4k pure essence for 60 rcing, I had 2 routes I could have taken. Mine it, or buy it. I chose the latter, as mining it is excrusiatinly boring, and 400-odd-k will turn into 1.2million after I'm done crafting, so it wasn't a big concern to me. If I can turn raw material into profit, and the exp from gathering it myself isn't that significant, I buy it. The time to gather it will add up in time not gathering it but doing the main objective with the material. Ugh this post is getting long with me rambling, so I'll end it here. Awesome article Ard, I saw you cutting trees in Gnome Stronghold the other day. :D I admire your skills, share secrets plocks. 1 Last thing. Kill (slayer, prayer and combat) for seeds, farm while slayering, use herbs/seconds for herblore, food for slayer/agility (strawberry baskets), use potions from Herblore for Slayer or Beastie fighting. Mine, smelt the ore and either smith or craft, use smithed range objects, high alch crafted objects. RC for runes, use runes for magic, or go back and use runes for superheating while mining/smithing. Just some chains I use, too many to list. :XD:

I think it may be worth mentioning the that with the new update (Tower of Life), you can now easily obtain the likes of eyes, red eggs and unicorn horns by killing the monsters that you make.

Party Hats - The Only Tradeable Skillcape?
You clearly missed the point. The thing is that you can convert a party hat into time, and you can convert a skill into time. Then you can compare them to see whats the greatest achievement. Its a personal calculation though. So its not a universal formula you can use to calculate whats greater. How did I miss the point? :-s I was just saying that someone with 20k in their bank cannot go out and purchase 99 cooking as someone with 10mil can.

Quick 'Tip' to saving Millions on your way to 99 Firemaking
I did this method from 40-65 firemaking. Yes, it is efficient if you are on a tight budget, but if you want speed, this is certainly not the route to go. :P The best time to buy is Wednesdays-sundays, as when there is an update, all shops empty, but later on in the week, a large stock will be there. Once there was 156k willows in the store I was fming in.

Party Hats - The Only Tradeable Skillcape?
Yep I agree. Alot of people who have rares stashed away in their bank can buy several 99s. If you have the fudning for a buyable skill, then it is yours. That is why I respect pople with 99 fishing, mining etc, as you cannot buy those skills.

Favorite/Worst Mini-Games
I think Temple Trekking has alot of potential actually. You can get 666 pure ess from rewards and similar with coal and stuff. I have never personally tried it out, but during the time it was released and everyone was slating it, someone posted the rewards and they really aren't bad. Mage Training Arena is my fav.minigame. I got bones to peaches there and Infinity boots and I'm now training to 94 magic in the enchantment chamber. The games can be fun, give lots of magic exp, and have awesome rewards. I'm slowly resenting barrows, lately my chests have been item free, I'm talking 30+ runs. :( Trouble Brewing is great, it's a load of fun, good cooking/crafting/firemaking exp, and you get cool clothes. I don't understand why everyone hates BA so much, I personally think the rewards are awesome, and the gameplay is fast paced. The only problem is finding a decend, noob free team, but when you do find one, you can get to and kill the queen very fast. Sometimes I find CW dull, and when training with PC, boring. So these would be my least fav probably.
