  1. The problem with that though is they already use a colouring system to identify which crossbow you're using.
  2. To be even more fair, the wild dogs are no problem once you hit 127 :P You also have two great spots to kill fire giants in the chaos tunnels. Nearly always empty as well. Heck, there's a lot of great places for a few slayer tasks in the chaos tunnels which are rarely used. If you have good defence, or are able to heal enough, fire giants become more of a 'sit back and read the forums' sort of task in the tunnels, too. The only rooms which tend to have people are the gargoyles (probably cause you don't have to use any portals), dust devils and black demons. All of which are along the way to bork. I'm sure people are simply more comfortable using those portals, which would explain why so many other great rooms are empty.
  3. The first time I tried pking, I had no idea what the skull on my head was or what it meant. So I decided to logged out and figure it out latter. When I came back the next day the slayer skill was released. I figured the skull over my head had something to do with the skull on the skill. So for an hour after that, I ran round varrock telling every one that attacking someone in the wilderness would unlock a new skill.
  4. http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Tale_of_the_muspah Nope, it gives no def exp as a reward nor does it require a level in it.
  5. 19, my birthday isn't too far off though. The average age is roughly where I had expected it to be. A few on the younger side, a few on the older side, and the majority in their teen years. I think it would be very interesting to have actual data on the average ages of runescape players. Not the stuff jagex tells us, but the real numbers. I wouldn't be surprised in the majority of what people believe to be the type who are 'ruining' the game, aren't people under 12, but really just a bunch of teens. Most youngster that I've encountered seemed to be more absorbed in their own affairs, barely realizing what else is going on around them. The teen years are usually where your changing, and you start comparing yourself to every one else and every one judging you and the rate that your body is changing. Wouldn't surprise me if that's where most of the hostility in runescape actually comes from. I mean, men in the gym lockers thinking "every one else looks more manly than me", so he goes on runescape and does stuff to make up for it. Girls whispering throughout their groups "that girl still doesn't have any breast?! She looks like a little boy!" which in runescape would be "that level 137 doesn't have bandos!?! what a noob!" There's also that whole "I'm indestructible" sort of mindset that goes on. Also that attitude about how every thing is so critical, important. Every thing is ruined just because of some terribly small change (points to RSOF recent updates).
  6. it means less than once a month. You know, like 0.5 times a month, or once every 2 months, or 6 times a year for example. I don't see what's wrong with not eating fast food. You must be tired. :P
  7. Next weeks update; New foods and more revenue for jagex. Care to take a guess? Seriously though. I was sort of surprised when I seen this pool. A while back I had always felt as if jagex considered speaking about brand names to be blasphemy. Not in the literal sense of the word of course.
  8. YOU WIN THE INTERNET! =] That is a huge find... IF this mysterious force really is an earthquake. I've read all posts in this topic and I'm still not sure whether it's a quake or not. The only thing I've seen is a red glow... Considered this possibility, but why did the emote happen to everybody? not just people who finished WGS Could just be something to make the entire event seem more epic to everyone. Something so massive, that it would be ruined if you only seen a few people here and there doing the emote. Jagex could have really wanted to hit the ball on this one. Seeing that they're acknowledging fan sites and the community more, and how people talk they may have figured "what the hell, every one's going to know about it anyway". Could also be a new way of jagex to be thinking. They may be trying to make the story lines appear to be moving forward with everyone, as if they're all part of the world you're in. This also makes sense seeing that lately, jagex has really been changing the way that they've been doing things. The code to make it only hit a select few could have been broken, and so we all got it when it got triggered. They're just keeping quiet about it. With this being done in ftp as well, it could be linked to the new skill. Jagex did say the new skill will be like nothing that has ever been done before. So some strange world event like this could fit it perfectly. It's just that since the skill will be so diferent, it's probably going to be impossible for us to know until the skill comes out. Maybe every thing you do with the new skill effects every thing else at the same time? I'm still leaning with it either being a hint for f2p\ftp -> fairy tales part #, or jagex trying to make the event look extremely epic for those who'll be able to do the quest. Something of a 'treat' for those who are so dedicated to the game. They'll be able to live the storyline with better immersion than every one else.
  9. I think you're turning nothing into something. Probably. I'll just let it go. But it's still just surprises me some people can be fooled with nothing more than cheap parody. I guess the majority of posts are making fun of it anyway. Ah well, back to the topic.
  10. It took a while before the Dark Squall was confirmed to be real. Dark squall? An NPC who's been found teleporting around the Chaos Tunnels. Many people considered him a hoax, but he turned out to be real. [/hide] Yes, but it was something unique, with more than one person claiming than just him and his "friends" to have seen it and making threads about it. Not to mention the runewiki is made by the very same, and only person to have made the claim of seeing this. Plus it's been a few days of this claim. You wouldn't think, with the thousands of mindless people who play this game, at least a few would be willing to wait around until they see her and take a picture by now? With the amount of people who play, there's bound to be more than one person who would have seen her by now. There's no reason jagex would release such a tease to only one of its player. Also, does no one see how this is a complete mock up of Kuradel? I'm ashamed tip.it! For years I've been lurking these forums, never have you been this gullible! I'm about ready to believe you're gonna tell me that that word isn't in the dictionary any more too. Props to the bunch who don't get fooled so easily. I wouldn't call 3 pages of posts very gullible. It's not the amount of post, but the content within the post. A while back, just about every post would be disregarding this based on the evidence at hand. Now you've got people "hoping it will be released soon" and a bit of speculation on what updates this will bring to the game. Don't get me wrong though, a bunch of people do claim it's a hoax and I gave them credit for it. I've just been noticing a certain trend among tip.it over the past few months and it's sort of disturbing. It's almost like a bit of the stench of the RSOF's is starting to taint this place more and more as time goes on. Am I the only one who thinks this whole jagex and the fansites thing isn't turning out for the best?

  12. FTP is the nooby new skool reference though. Decent up standing people and Jagex themselves use F2P and P2P not FTP and PTP I've always been using FTP rather than f2p, and members instead of PTP or P2P. I've never seen the point of chat\leet-speaking within an acronym. F2P, P2P and PTP just look silly to me. :P
  13. I may be looking too hard, but there has to be a reason why free to play got this as well. Not much points to there being a new skill, so if they update would be for free to play as well, it would have to be something that we don't know about yet. But the way the seers say something new, and how practically every other possibility we know about points to members. really tells me this update is going to be for members. I believe free to play didn't get this event as a way to tell us it's also a free to play update, but as a hint instead. Both "Free to play" and "Fairy Tales Part 3" share the same acronym "FTP". Mind you, the quest has a 3 at the end. Though the bigger part of the quest name "Fairy Tales Part" is shared between both current quest. As I said, I'm probably just looking too hard. But it does explain a few conflicting issues.
  14. You may be right, but they're easier to obtain. You can trade your points in directly for them, instead of hopping to get lucky and receive one as a reward. Not to mention 5000 points isn't all that hard to get in vinesweeper. If they suddenly do become worth a few mill street, it certainly wont last as long as mints are lasting.
  15. I'm not that big on making videos, but this feature does seem very promising. It should be useful to get a better view of those other places you can see in dungeons. Especially that wreck near Zilyana. I hope it wont have too many limitations to prevent that though.
  16. That one is more interesting than it looks. It's probably just a flier that went down there. To me, it hints that theses pages are not all that ancient. Maybe some sort of magic in the caverns are making them age more than they would outside. Could not have been deliberately aged like the bronze items we gave to simmons, otherwise he wouldn't have bothered ageing the flier as well. They can't really be ancient, otherwise how would this page get in there? Bob can't be that old.
  17. Well, maybe if it's just a simple one kill bonus that you can do when you get certain types of tasks. For example, if you get a dagganoth task you can have the option to kill each king once for 2.5k slayer exp each or something. But if you return, or try to kill them again, you'll find that they give the regular amount of exp. Kq could be 2k, KBD could be 1k or something like that. This way bottles wouldn't be created, as most people wouldn't see any reason beyond that one kill for bonus exp. It still allows for a little more variety, as well as a bit of a reward for those willing to take on the extra difficulty.
  18. As it was said, "Guthix should remember well that for every balance there is a counterbalance". From what I can tell from the followers of guthixs, they seem to be peaceful, more one-with-nature sort-of folk. Every thing being said about Zaros seems to point to Zaros being the counterbalance of Guthix. His big cities for example. They seem rather similar too. Well, not really similar. Something such as what Saradomin is to Zamorak, is what Guthix is to Zaros. I'm sure you get what I mean. Could be possible that Armadyl goes along with Bandos as well. From what little I know, it would seem possible with Seren and Flamtaer (that deity once worshiped around Mort'ton, before the icyene arrived I believe).
  19. Level 96 atk -> 122 Level 97 str -> 123 Level 98 def -> 124
  20. But there are people who are willing to pay to play classic. Many of my friends claim they miss it, and are no doubt going to be very happy about this update. I know at least one player who would no doubt pay for servers. Right now classic is only for players who logged in within a certain window of time. When that happened, it was p2p only (a lot of f2p users where botting in it so it shut that down). I've never tried logging in when my membership last dropped, so I couldn't tell if it's still p2p only. I'd assume it is though.

  22. I'm just glade that they're still keep the two current private runescape servers. I don't use my account there, but I'd hate for some people who've been playing it for years to suddenly get ruined by cheats, having their amulets of accuracy suddenly being added to the game again. Let's not forget the trolls who just logged in to flame others who play and enjoy it.

  24. Excuse me, but Pure Ess was round years before Infinity Stock. It was one of Jagex's moves against RWTs that backfired horribly- many of them resorted to stealing credit cards and becoming members to access better gold makers. Right, I realized this now. I'm aware of what they said it was about, however they also said they were planning the updates of late 2007 for years before. Even with my error, it's still plausible that they had thought about this in advance. They could have also used the year 1\2 between the updates to test what rune supplies would be like. I'm thinking they're doing another test because the ge didn't exist before, and they want to know how a unified market would effect it. It does seem a lot less likely now though. But still, returning ess to it's original ways could make up for the lack of supplies now. Sorry about my mistake though :P I was trying to find the news posts on runescape, but I couldn't find the one about pure ess. I read "On 10 December 2007, many macro users disappeared from the game" on a fansite talking about pure ess, so I figured that was the date it was released. Though I found the news article now. http://news.runescape.com/newsitem.ws?id=571 and http://news.runescape.com/newsitem.ws?id=919 for those who may be interested.
  25. Making pure, and regular essence one again would definitely benefit our economy now. With these new shop stocks, and how every one is complaining about a lack of runes, it should be enough to promote runecrafting. It would help resupply the runes that are being used every day a little better. Since the pure ess update happened after the infinity stock update did (about 1 or 2 months after), it seems very possible that pure ess was planned for a system that we no longer have. A system were the supply of runes would not be dependant on player supplied runes any more. Instead players could easily go to a store and buy as many as they wished. I'm pretty confident that jagex does what they're doing. Doing the shop update first could simply be a test jagex is doing. It could be to see how badly the rune supplies are effected in this pure ess system without an infinity supply of runes. I think it's possible that jagex could be considering switching back, depending on how the rune supplies react in the coming weeks.
