  1. It is. Lrn2putintutorialSquareEnix. Anyways, you gain jobs randomly (okay, not "Randomly" but without being alerted) and you have no idea what they do. I hate tutorials. Well, optional tutorials never hurt though. I just like finding out what to do on my own when I first start a game. In FF7 I've been training in the Sunken Gelnika and morphing enemies into stat sources. Cloud's level 80 now. This game takes so much longer to level up than 12 did, but at least the weapons were pretty easy.

I just graduated so I won't be going to school next year, but for those of you who are going - good luck. The budget cuts really impacted our school big time last year. They couldn't pay for substitute teachers. If your teacher was absent, you went to the auditorium along with all the other classes with absent teachers so it would get extremely crowded - and on top of that, it was supervised by only two adults. It was a circus in there. I can't imagine how bad things will get if schools lose even more funding than that.

I just made plans for tonight, tomorrow, the next day, and the next day. For once in a very long time I'll actually have stuff to do for over half a week! This is a record for me. :P
  5. Well I most certainly didn't mean we would be able to completely extinguish these problems 100%, so I apologize if it came out that way. We definitely are capable of minimizing it and making steps forward though. Yep, very true. But at the same time it's also in our nature to complain and look for solutions to our problems.

    Can they swim? :?
  7. I don't know why, but I don't really find celebrities hot. Just the fact that the whole world knows them is a major turnoff for me.
  8. As long as there is free will we can get better. We have made some steps forward. Racism was a more prevalent issue - it still might exist today but it isn't nearly as extreme as it used to be. Churches would kill you if you played a note that was supposed to represent the devil - nowadays people find that kind of thing ridiculous. People were burnt for being witches - pretty much everyone today knows that witches aren't even real. I think we most certainly are making progress, just not enough. We still have a long road ahead of us, but I believe it's possible. Sorry but I can't listen to that. It's Papa Roach.

Current theories on the age of earth and the age of the universe point to extraterrestrials being more likely to have lived longer than us, not the other way around. According to Wikipedia, the earth is about 4 billion years old and the universe about 15. I would think that this means if we found other life, it would be more likely that they have formed in the 11 billion years earth hasn't been around rather than the 4 billion years it has been.
  10. It might sound like circular logic, but I agree. A positive mentality is the only way to break the cycle. I can't stand when people say nothing can change how bad the world is. That's the exact reason why we don't see much progress - because people tell themselves it can't happen.

If this was the worst things than death thread then good post but since it isn't .... Well, it's still more pertinent to the thread than your post... or mine.

You guys are making a great impression. When you compare how long us earthlings have existed to the time the universe has existed, we're really just a tiny blurb. It's much more likely that the aliens have existed longer than we have, meaning they probably have more advanced technology.

Because they declared others as less than human for no reason. We're just playing by their own rules, except we give a little more compassion because we don't just do it to innocent people like they did. And a lot of people pretended/seemed to be successfully rehabilitated, just to go back into society and make the same "mistakes". So either we allow criminals a second chance and risk more innocent people getting killed, or we don't allow them a second chance and risk guilty people who would have been successfully rehabilitated getting killed. It's a matter of who you have more compassion for: the innocent or the guilty. But that being said, no matter what course of action you take there's no such thing as a perfect victory.

True, but do you know every single thing about the food you eat? What about other products you use on your body such as medicine and toothpaste?
  16. I only played Tilt n' Tumble, and while the idea was cool, the execution was not. That game bored me to no end. But to be fair, I think Kirby is a cool character in SSB.

Yeah, I suppose you're right there. It is more of an emotion thing, although I still think there's room for the rational argument to be applied too. Yep, true. Nurture is also responsible for people going insane. And even if the baby did have those genes, the important thing is whether that baby would act on them or not.

Being realistic doesn't matter in the least when we're talking about hypotheticals.

Correlation doesn't imply causation. There is no way to prove or disprove prayer with statistics. There are too many "divine factors" to take into account. For example, what if god only answered prayers to a specific kind of people, like ones who made a lot of sacrifices in their lives or something? Not the best example, but I'm sure that paints the picture.
  20. No no. My opinion is that choosing abortion should be legal and they don't have to have the baby. However, when people say that wearing a condom but still getting pregnant isn't considered "getting knocked up" or "causing the pregnancy", then I think that's just a dishonest way of deflecting the blame off yourself. And also, I don't think abortion is morally right, but it can be the lesser of the two evils which is why I say it should be legally okay. I think it's fine if they don't have the baby, but when they pretend like they're not the ones responsible for causing the conception, then that's wrong. This is what I was arguing against:

If someone flames you and you flame them back, that's following the eye for an eye principle. A lot of you say you don't agree with it, but I've seen differently on TIF time and time again. You are saying we're trying to show off how hardcore we are and that we would never do anything to those people if we got the chance... fair enough, but nothing is stopping me from saying you guys are showing off how "morally righteous" you are, and that if you did get the chance to do something to them, you would. If someone murdered your whole family and you had a gun in the house, you wouldn't say to yourself, "I hope they get the help they deserve," - you would kill them. It can go both ways. Let's not make ridiculous assumptions about each other though.
